I'm a newb. Had some general questions.

I ordered my stilts a while ago. I'll be receiving them on tuesday. Only problem is weather is lookin grim. So i may have to put off. I had a couple of questions.
1. I bought general electric tape to wrap up my spring, should about 5 or 6 coats be enough? and i have two 77 foot rolls, will that be enough to cover them with that many coats?

2. Im in the middle of my weight category, and i bought not the next size, but one after, so two higher than mine, is that going to be alright, i heard only buy one size up.

3. I know i will be shunned for this, but i didn't get pro-jump, i got Air-Trekkers, they were the only things available where im located at. Any info or ideas about quality of them?

And hello to everybody on the forum, hopefully even though i dont have pro-jumps, i wont be shunned, id still like a forum to come talk with people and this one seemed to be the best!

1. I would use something thicker for the under layers such as gaffer tape, duct tape or hockey tape. I used to use 3 or 4 layers of gaffer on my projumps.
Finish with a nice layer of electrical tape on top in whatever design or colour  you want
2. You might find the springs hard to compress at first but bare with it and you will be fine. Shouldn't cause a major problem.
3. Australian? It really depends on the exact model but they are ok I think.

Is gaffer tape that thick almost cloth like material tape? And i got the new 2009 model, the Extreme one. Has pro-cuffs and snowboard bindings.

yer air trekkers basicaly are the same thing

so ur fine with that and yes gaffer is the tape with like cloth or string in it to make it stronger

what i did was keep the buble wrap that coems with them on then put 3 layers of gaffer folowed by maybe a black layer of electricains then finish off with a layer for desighn

OR

get a old bike tyre take metal wiring out pearce it with a few holes and make urself some bike tyre covers

tyre armour ftw, im skeptical these day as to if tape actually does anything, i have really overdone a set of springs before, gaffertape, then a few rolls of electrical then tyre armour, and they still go, if a spring is gonna break it will, tape just stops chips when your a noob bocker and banging your stilts together loads, in my opinion anyway.

I never new you taped springs to stop them breaking..or holding when they do break. I just thought it was for protection for when you bail and stuff

Yeah, i was always under the impression it was for when you own the springs with a hard object.

I've got some massive chunks through the entire spring armour at the moment, right through the tape aswell.

I think it's time for some extra protection.

I dont even know how i did it though, as i've still never fallen off, and havnt clanged my springs off eachother since about my first half hour of use.

My Bocks are comin in the mail today, i think im just gonna forget about the tape and head out to my bike shop and get a tire and use that for the armor. Seems to work much better, But now i have 3 rolls of different tape. Hah, good thing its not expensive. Im so excited to get them, but the weather is cold and rainy so i wont be able to use them today. Just decorate and protect.

well...I have like 4/5 layers of gaffa tape on my springs and it works really well. Tape/tires is only for protection. I think if tape is done right they work as well as each other. But I doubt tires get as scruffy looking as fast I would have tires if I 1) could make them 2)get red/stripy tire..cheaply

The tape isnt wasted....You can use it on the support rods, knee bar or the bars on the cuffs. If you are going to get a tire then you should make some tire socks too

Its probs a good thing you have time to protect because most of the damage is done to bocks within the first few hours

ive had my springs 2yrs and had no probs with em, no tape no, armour FTW
But Ive Got a Few Scufs On Rubber So a Roll Of Tape Is gonna Be needed

I got my stilts a few days before aidan and i only live 4 or 5 doors down the road from him so hes not had no one to bock with....
Infact i was out with him earlier this evening
And all 3 of us were out last night
