Longer lasting rubber soles
« on: August 26, 2009, 03:37:17 PM »
Tip from Lothar of SpeedJumper...

He suggested a way to increase the life of your rubber soles by visiting the cobbler! In Germany it costs him approximate 7-10 Euros per pair.

Most cobblers should have a choice of rubber you could choose from so you could get the best type of rubber for what you use them for ie if you use them mainly in the gym you could ask for a sole that is longer lasting.

See attachment for pic, I’m not 100% sure but I think Kiola uses a similar method for his PowerSkip soles so he may have an idea of cost, when I get a chance I’ll take the feet to a few places locally here to see if I can get an average cost worked out unless any of you fancy trying it out as an alternative to tyre socks!

I am amused they had to take the new SpeedJumper Pro Hooves to a cobbler to make them last, despite raving on about how awesome the stilts are. :Claugh:

@ Bexx lol probably would!

I phoned up the local cobbler near me he said to bring the hoofs in and he will tell me whats best, I haven't got any of the removable rubber feet here so I'll get some posted to me and take a trip down to see him - will let you know when I know!

However I think they would probably just glue it onto the rubber with some of their specialised glue.

@Sprog - I think he does that with all his hoofs and they are still using some of the chinese parts so I guess the rubber is one of them parts.

I missed this on here but I think I read the original topic.

From what I remember reading the SJ hoofs are Chinese. The metal bit the rubber fits on to is made by them. But there are problems with that because the Chinese rubber parts don't fit properly on the part SJ made..but that's something else entirely.

I think it could work well if the right rubber is found. Have too see what the cost per hour works out to be roughly. This or Jasons MK3 hoofies have to be the way forward. I used the original ones and they didn't really last a good day of bocking.

I found this awesome place the other day and they can make absolutely anything out of rubber. I thought about putting it to them. Probs based on the MK3 hoofy design apposed to the original.

I think you should let me test these ones naz :P
