well i would say mobile phone???
if not go creative, they are nice, and are not too much

one of the CREATIVE ZEN's should be a good one there very tough

Sandisk Sansa Clip, I have one and it has survived a 10 meter drop, a pen ink explosion and much more;
It's great for using while bocking. Oh and its known produce some of the best sound quality in the sub-£200 market, and is known as genreally being an amazing player. You can pick an 8gb one for about £50, but you could get one of the smaller memory models and expand it with a SDHC card if need be.
Oh and it's about the size of a small matchbox, and with it's clip you certainly won't drop it.
-
http://www.gbax.com/a320.html
plays pretty much any music file, videos, flash, any console below gba on teh default firmware
now if you install linux on it, that's another whole matter
oh and tough as nails btw
-
They all sound good but are all under 9hours battery life :S... I want it to last at least 24 hours :D, then It wont run out on train ride homes :P

Sony PSP-1000 with custom firmware to drop the processor speed to 11mhz, allowing 18 hours of music playback. Plus a logitech polycarbonate protective case. :)
-
Thats a bit big to put in my pocket :S, want something small :D
not a PSP :P
-
so hows about an el-cheapo little stick type mp3 player thing, rigged onto a 12Ah 1.5v battery (the equivalent of 10 AA batteries use)
would have a huge battery life, and be vaguely portable
jsut for reference, the dingoo has a battery life of about 10 hours music@ 360MHz, upgrade teh battery, and clock that down and you've got a real monster
oh and it's smaller than a psp :D
-
Lol, may just do that :P But I also wanted it to look cool :D
DC
p.s. Im a fussy bugger

Works fine for me when bocking :Claugh:
-
hmm... how much ruffly??
DC

Simple.....
Oakly thumps FTW
Fin.

I went into comet and go a £14 2gb stick one that runs on one AAA battery
So if I fall on it it's cheap to replace and 4 AAA rechargables keep me going until I need sleep :Claugh:
Hardest part was getting headphones that stay on while jumping but aldi did a set that go round the back of your head and they stay on even in a fall

If he wants something small and cheap then he should get what I suggested, has great sound quality and all that jazz, with aplenty of extra stuff too. Should only cost £20-£50, depending on how much built-in memory he wants, oh and the battery lasts 15 hours.

Ipod are awful though and everyone is like o yeah I got an Ipod Touch.... Get over it :D
DC
-
He reason ipod touch is win. I' writing this now, away from home, while watching tv. And it was just bought as an ipod. It is an awesome product. Its what apple do
-
it cost over 100 pounds sterling, yet does surprisingly little
-
Thats why im thinking of the Iriver Spinn £99 does everything an Ipod does... even runs all the games, cheaper as more memory and looks fantastic :D
DC
-
on another note, could jsut get one of these:
http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/thumb-drives-storage/c76a/
not much use if the headphones breaks though
-
That looks cool but its an Ipod and not flashy enough :P
-
How is that an ipod? :Cconfused:
-
I dunno :D
DC
-
What bout these its not really an only-you-can-hear-it mp3 :Claugh: but it would be pretty kwl, i duno if they'd work as gud with bocks on thow.....lol :Ctwitcy:

DC
-
And reading the reviews they seem pretty poor-quality too.
-
lol dint see the price-frikin eck RIP OFF! :) isn't their anyway u could somehow build an mp3 into your bocks? but oh ye, where would u put them? lol, y don't u just get an ipod and get an arm wrap thingy to put it in so it would be a good and safe place 2 put it :D

Cuz ipods are rubbish due to the way they store music and their strict rules.

That is the only bad thing about ipods.

I. Most only come in two colors, black, and white, except the Ipod nano, which comes in many different colors.
II. You can only import certain audio formats to them (mp3, wav, aac, wma, mp4)
III. Have a tendency to freeze or crash
V. Completely over expensive
VI. the headphones break easy
VII. Itunes can sometimes become complicated and fiddily
VIII. The setup is crap!!!!
VIIII (dunno roman numerals). they are really cold in the morning so annoying to use with your fingers :P
VIIIII. corners are sharp
VIIIIII. if you have them in you back pocket and sit down they snap in seconds
VIIIIIII. you can only get it fixed by a specialist Ipod dealers instead of an MP3 dealers
want anymore I got a huge list :P

Does colour REALLY matter? I thought the point was to play music, not look nice.

You do realise iTunes can auto-convert tracks to your preferred format when importing them, with no quality loss if you use the right settings?
VI. the headphones break easy
You could say this about any MP3 player. Just pick up another set for about £20, sure they're not going to be pitch-perfect but they get the job done.
VII. Itunes can sometimes become complicated and fiddily
Are. You. INSANE?
iTunes is the best music organisation software on the market IMO. Waaaaaaaaaaaay better than WMP, Winamp, or various others.
VIIIII. corners are sharp
(http://techplore.com/technology/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/newIpods.jpg)
I see no sharp corners :Cerr:
VIIIIII. if you have them in you back pocket and sit down they snap in seconds
Why have you got it in your back pocket? Seems an odd place to keep an MP3, much more likely for it to be pick-pocketed by some teenage chav on the streets.
However, I agree with most of your other points :P
-
By sharp corners I meant the new Nano :P Its hurts
And Itunes is complicated, keeps deleting stuff of my ipod!!! evil I tell you EVILLLLL!!!
-
itunes is ARGGG! i agree lols
-
I'm getting a sense of you younger guys suffering from a little fashion driven impatiens! :Claugh:
itunes is a good bit of software when you learn how to use it!
I agree they do freeze now and again but that’s easily recovered, and so does most other mp3 players. If you must have the latest, then expect to pay through the nose for it. That’s not ipods, that’s life! And you don’t need the dealer when it’s out of warranty, you can get them fixed anywhere.

Haha, Ok, I made that mistake once. A mate of mine came over and she wanted me to put some leftfield on her ipod..plugged it in..pressed something and oops...all gone..
:spudT:

YAY my search is over going for an Iriver P7 16GB :D

I'm getting one of these, all hail the Zune HD :Cnotworthy: :Cnotworthy: :Cnotworthy: :Cnotworthy: :Cnotworthy:
-
Apart from the fact the screen isn't HD, therefore making it's name utterly irrelevant. :Claugh:
-
Not really, it can stream 720p video and has HD radio. The Tegra chip inside that thing is a BEAST too, plus theres the fact that the screen is miles better than the touches.
-
Also, has anyone realised that if Apple made a kids version of the Ipod Touch, it would be called the 'iTouch Kids'.
-
Bio I know you touch kids but to say it on PJF thats abit wierd :P
Ooo looks funky may look into that now ^.^
