Hi, my weight is 63kilos, I am using the 70kg model, I am new to PJ's, so I am wondering on how long it will take the springs to be broken in, as I want to start trying to jump in them soon!!!!! ;D
-
It all depends how much you use them and how hard you use them.
If you go out everyday and give them quite a beating they should be broken in within a week or two, but it varies so be patient :P
You will start to notice when they are breaking in because the springs become less like a steel pole and more like a spring.
Hope this helps ;D

This helped for me too ;D thx
-
thx, it has helped me alot, I will keep bouncing on them for the next week or two and get them nice and loose!!! Athoul you are a star!!!!

I try ;D

i have had my pjs for 3 days now. The model i got was way over my weight but my freinds who are heavier than me have been bouncing on them and i have really noticed the difference
-
it depends get sopme realli big fat guy to bounce the living day-lights out of em.
-
Another trick, is to use copper grease on the bolts and washers, then break the springs in, much easier to bounce around on!!!
-
where do i get copper grease from and how much...... where to i apply it???

Motor part stores are the best, apply the copper grease to the bolts and washers, on the shripngs, and foot bar assembly!! I will place a pic if you are not too sure!!

If you just spend 5 minutes or so every time you put on your bocks (at least once a day) just hopping from foot to foot, the springs should soften quite fast. Make sure you get fully airborne though, so you put enough force on the bocks.

Breaking in springs is a myth..

Breaking in springs is a myth..
Disagree, when i got mine they barely bent when i walked, now they flex down a couple inches.
-
Yep, they may get softer over the time when you use them, but breaking them in during the first hours of use is just.. well.. a myth. :D
-
I have had about 15 sets of new PJ springs over 3-4 years and they all start out slightly stiff and withing about 10 hrs of hard use ease off a bit
It is to do with some of the fibres breaking down at the start
Skip springs do the same (depending on who you chat to) but to a lesser extent
7's don't seem to do it and stay the sam through life
I havn't had enough experience of other makes to comment

Or its jused based on the fact that you get used to the springs.^^
Btw, 10hours of hard use (like you do^^) cant be compared to the use of average/new bouncers. And even if you were totally right, why would you want the spring to become softer even earlier?!
Skips kinda do this, but they dont last long at all.. so thats more the normal wearout than breaking in.
7s dont do it because they are soft from the beginning. :D
-
Did I hear that skips don't last long :Claugh:
I have a pair that have been going for 3 years of very hard use
It is well known that Skip springs either break very quick or last almost for ever (Tested by many performers on LotR) and then used second hand by clive for about a year
No it is not just getting used to the springs they definately soften slightly in the early hours
It can take a while for newbys to break them in but that is part of the learning curve
But yes I agree about the 7's just a shame I can bottom them all out of the box :Claugh:

Yeah, I know some people where the skip springs last forever.. but they already have their fifth or sixth pair. :D The previous ones lasted about 12-18 months or sth, so they didnt get soft quick but over time.. seems weird. :D
This "either break very quak or last almost forever" is also said about the FL/FJ/PJ/SJ springs. ._.
Springs soften slightly with every hour of use, but still: why would anyone want to become them soft right at the beginning? :D
There was a huge discussion on that topic on PP Clicky Clicky (http://pp/forum/breaking_in_springs_is_a_myth-t2404.0.html) and after reading it, I agree on "having to break in springs is a myth" because they dont get better after ~breaking in~, only softer.. and thats worse. :D

Yep there have been posts about this for all the time I have been bocking
The do and don't break ins used to devided between
7 owners (Don't)
And the rest (Do)
But it will always be down to personal experience and my experience on 10+ sets is that they do soften slightly at first
