Title: Emergency straps
Post by: Jason on January 12, 2008, 10:57:19 PM
Hi all
I have over the short time I've been bocking seen people unable to bock for a few reasons when on a meet
Things like lost straps and broken foot bindings so I think I've come up with an answer

The idea is a 1.2 mtr webbing strap with a friction buckle on one end

This can be used to replace a lost or broken Knee binding (used like the original strap that used to come with PJ's but with a buckle instead of tying ) as Naz explained here
http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=1395.0

Of mend a foot binding as paul did with one of Pins straps at Capital Bocking

Or to attach you bocks together for easier carrying

The good bit is it can be worn as a belt when not in use so is not in the way when bocking I was thinking of selling them individually or in pairs and at a fairly low cost say £3-4 each + postage question is

What do you all think would you find them useful ?

they seem really useful. I dont actually use any straps atm. I need to invest.

I like the idea that they could be used as a carry strap or belt. seems great

These are already available at my local hardware stores.  Utility straps.
Very handy, and available in many colors  ;D

Well, speaking of a carrying strap, here's mine.  You can find the tutorial it in the Transporting section of www.PowerBockResources.com.

Spud, if your not using straps you wont get the full potential from you bocks! they make you feel so much safer and secure  :Straddle5:

How about a short  piece and a tube of super glue !?
I fixed a buckle clip with super glue when the handle snaped and it's still holding !
You could beidge the gap with a small piece of webbing and super glue it in place

I'm a cheap skate I'd just use a roll of sticky tape as a stop gap   ;D
 :tape: :Blue_Tape: :O_Tape: :Green_Tape: :Purple_Tape: :White_Tape: :Black_Tape: :Yellow_Tape:

All good points lads and lasses thanks for thr input

The idea behind my thinking was it was a light wearable repair/carry handle that could be used for many on the spot problems that tend to occur when your out and about (and hold your trousers up at the same time )

I would do them in lots of colours zendalfire and use a lightweight nylon buckle to keep the weight down

Nice carry idea Bill C would work very similar but no clips so not as easy to use as yours a bit of threading required

And one advantage over the superglue answer DK is that if you fall on the strap it won't stick your A** to your trouser pocket  :haha:
Imagine explaining that one in the hospital as they peel you out of you jeans

even though they tend to be my answer to most things moment...(having held up an entire set for panto with them)...a roll of gaff and cable ties would seem to be quite handy in an emergency...? whenever i take my rucksack bocking i always have a roll with me... :) both could be used for most things in an emergency.
