Just a rundown of our meet today. We all enjoyed it and had a great time but it ended with a bit of a bang. We were all there mucking around, really all we did was jump up onto piles of the gym mats (went up to 30 mats, so somewhere between 4ft and 5ft jumping up for us).
The meet went pretty well until Alex (DarkCastles2) decided he wanted to try a backflip. He went for it, bailed and yes, you guessed it, landed on his back. And we have it on video, will probs be up over the next week. However, he was taken to hospital, and last I heard was having X-Rays of his back, He was in agony from what it seems. Will keep you all posted whenever I find out anything, I guess really this is so you all know.
He always has to be the centre of attention doesn't he :L
I should probs post this in the injuries section but nevermind its a story nonetheless :L
So really, hope hes alright :L
-
That wasn't the only injury the new guy James I fink his name was sprained his wrist and I'm still in pain from my fall
Where is giddy with that video
-
Ouch guys really must be more careful, make sure you keep us posted on Alex, hope his ok.

Gute Besserung Alex!! = Get well soon Bud

Get well soon DC.
I have to ask what was the setup here, was he on crash mats?
-
that is soo freaking annoying mat (squeeker) i'm coming back down on thursday for a weeks break and alex goes injures himself :/ but as long as i can meet you guys sometime that will be ace :D
get well sooon alex!

Get well soon DC.
I have to ask what was the setup here, was he on crash mats?
well, at that Gym, there is only one proper crash mat and a ton of the smaller mats, so he had that proper crash mat and was aiming to land on it, but missed it and came down on a floor laid out of the smaller mats.
See, most of us wont attempt a backflip (Ihave said this many times) as we want more crash mats first. Alex, well, he's a maniac :L
As a small update, I got a text from him last night, it reads: "Just got out, thanks for the help, does not look like i will be stilting again, let alone walk atm :S" And on facebook he has said he doesnt think he will be stilting for a long long, if ever :/
-
Heya :) cheers for everything, I am back at home now, no really serious damage, but struggling to walk, keep passing out from pain as well :S
But I really wanna get back on stilts, the backflips are going to be beaten as soon as I can stilt again :P really hoping I can but I guess the group will support me when I go for it again :)
DC
p.s. I really wanna see the video :P
-
course we will, and hopefully we could go to a better gym next time :L
-
Glad you are doing okayish! Hope you get well soon but take it easy and don't rush your recover.
-
Glad you r on the mend alex
Getting 'carried away' can be a problem. u have to have some1 to say 'stop it u r not good enuff/too tired'
Even Rancher/joe would sometimes take notice of me when I told him he had to stop cos he was going to far ...not sure Id have the nerve now tho :o)
Accidents will always happen is a trueism. But dont all HAVE to happen and rules get forgotten and 'unlearnt'
So yes glad u on the mend .....but 'daddy' isnt happy... 1 would be talk of 'grounding' but u kinda done that to yourself already
-
But I know I am more than ready, just need more crash mats around me :D
I think I will leave it about a month yet before I attempt to get back on them, just to give me some time to heal properly :)

Hey DC
Stop being such a Bl**dy Whooss and get back on the stilts :Claugh:
Kidding aside mate I know how much pain that can cause (Similar but fell off a cantering horse) Also fell on a scaffold pole years ago and it takes a while before you are 100%
So take it easy and get well soon

Jason try a bloody fast galloping thoroughbred :L Did that once, my escort couldn't keep up with me after the horse bolted, and i would have stayed on had it not been so wet and my saddle slip :L
-
Ooh yea of little faith Squeeker
Irish draft cross Thoroughbred 16 hands 3 inches (basicly Conan in equine form )
I say canter due to it bolting in the school but apx 25mph
No saddle and it was the third time he'd done it to me (Yes I am stupid :Claugh:)
I did a half turn mid air and landed in the pike position A** first
2 weeks later when they convinced me to go to the doc due to the lump on my back (8" long 4" wide and about 2" deep) yes the wife measured it
The Docs only coment was "You poor dear your lucky to still be walking"
Best bit is 5 mins after I did it I got back on and schooled him for another 1/2 hr (yes without the saddle)
And I was 48 at the time :Claugh:
But I have to admit that one was'nt to bad
My shoulder was 4 years ago and I still need it put pack in once a week (lucky the wife can do it now ) I think she enjoys :Claugh:
Classic one though I have ridden for 40 years without a broken bone (I think ) and 6 months bocking and I smashed my wrist :Claugh: can't even blame the horse for that one (although it was something they produce that I slipped on )
You had to be at the A&E at 8 am to believe what I smelled like :Claugh:

:L To be fair I recover quickly from things so mine wasn't that bad :L but was bloody fast across open moor :L funny thing was, I just jumped back on rode home then realised I felt like I was literally crumbling on the spot, never went hospital though ><
2 weeks later I was back on this thing having a lesson of him bucking his ass off in the school :L I have to say, I seem to love the lively horses that want to kill you :L However this thing did get quite attached to me, suprisingly I was the only person it would actually let ride it properly :L (this was after these bucking sessions when I proved I was the boss :L) I think it liked the fact that I was arrogant :L

You might have liked the little mare I had when I was younger
She had quite a record she broke 2 legs 3 arms that we know of and my mothers back (bad fracture of the coccyx but she walked again after a few weeks)
Used to come back from the local park on her own without the grooms that she left there :Claugh: (we had a lot of grooms leave over her )
I knew she loved me on the day she dumped me and jumped over me (rather than stamping on me on the way over as she had always done before :Claugh: )
But she was cute compared to the gelding I had on a good day he picked my wife up by the skin between her shoulderblades
He loved sitting on the farrier when he did his back legs and biting the girls when they bent over to muck out (must admit I found that funny )
His best one was knocking out a 20 grand Dressage Horse (this was 30 years ago) when he pulled the roof down on a block of stables while he was away at school
They took responsiblity as they recon the stable should have been able to take 1/2 ton swinging on it by his teeth :Claugh: think I was lucky there
Present horse (Storm) is a kitten compared to them just no one else sees it that way :Claugh: still can't understand why 80% prefer to walk round the block rather than pass him
