Calling all Bockers!!! On Friday November 16th 2007 (10am to late) we will be attempt to make an 'official' World Record for the largest number of Bockers gathering in one place at one time (Pretty liekly as there has never been a record for this before). A few of us will be kicking it all off at 10am at Hyde Park Corner so people can turn up from then onwards (We are going to arrange 'display' check points through out the day closer to the 16th so everyone will know where we are when). We will be hitting town, stopping and displaying in various places around major tourist spots, carrying buckets to collect cash which at times we will go in and change at major Children In Need sponsoring stores for notes to lessen the weight of all the money we intend to collect!!! We will have police escorts that have already been arranged and will have music to bounce to. The official number record will be taken at 4pm back at Hyde Park Corner. In the evening we will try and get aired on BBC's Children In Need night (Hense all this being on a Friday) and I am making arrangements for that as we speak. This is going to be a major event it seems and a great way to promote our sport, so please everyone! Come and join the bounce party!
I will be supplying everyone with their very own buckets and lables so need to know who can come (even if its a likely maybe). I will have to pay £300 for the application fee to Guinness World Records. This is the fast track application but it guarentees us getting a record. It also provides us with various officials and advice. Because this is coming out of my own pocket it would be a MASSIVE help if people could spare £10 (if under 30 people) to cover the cost for this. Of course this isnt manditory to take part but would just help me spread my costs. So feedback on this would be great too!
We will probably have spare Bocks on the day too so we can get spectators up on them if they wanted a go.
Also, as I am aware that we have no idea what the weather will be doing on the day I have arranged for Sx Nutta to make quite a few spare tyre socks for anyone who needed them on the day. He is also making some fantastic 'bumble bee' fur spring covers which a lot of us are already going to buy off him (cost about £10 to cover his expenses for the fur) So gimme a shout if you want to reserve a pair as they seem to be going fast.
Ok, heres a rough (VERY ROUGH) map of my proposed route, the numbers are the preferable display check points...
1 - Hyde Park Corner
2 - Speakers Corner
3 - Somewhere enroute down Oxford Street
4 - Centre Point
5 - Covent Garden
6 - Outside Charing Cross Station (Or somewhere before then down the Strand)
7 - Leicester Square
8 - Piccadilly Circus
9 - I dont like the route I first planned as shown on this map so I am changing it to go down Northumberland Avenue and down
Victoria Embankment with a display check point at Westminster.
10 - St James Park
The plan is to get to on the hour and leave each point at 15 mins past each hour to give people a chance to meet us at various points during the day. Let me know if anyone knows of any good display spots on this route that I havent specified.
