Hi guys im so gutted im currently sitting on the lil over hed pc thing in the ipswich hospital with a broken ankle it happend last night on the trampoline in pipers vale my ankle is broken in 2 places i think thats what they sed last night eny way but i was pritty caked on morfein im gunna have a op to have some pins put in lol my ankle was at a 90 degree angle from my leg yer eny who im not gunna b bocking for bout 6 weeks but dw ppl its only a foot il bock on 1 eg if i have 2 :P

lol thanks spud me thinks drugs r wering off a bit now coz it feels tight in the cast im gutted tho coz i wana use my ne foot plates when they come and dw ppl i will still sort out the meet on the 6th for u guys no broken bones r gunna stop me doing what i love im evan wereing my CB T atm XD

well theres nothing i can do apart from sit here and take it im not allowed to leave my bed :( and as 4 the meet well its only fair coz its my owne fault for doing it no need to make others w8 4 me to heal so dont c y not i only have to ring the guy

When do you have the pins put in and when can you leave?

just got some more drugs the guy just came and saw me he sed i have broken it on both sides of my ankle and they will put pins in the inside bit coz thats the worst bit and he sed its a rilly bad brake and i will have to g through allot of phisio but i still wont have proper mevment in my ankle oh well im not gunna lisen all i hurd was blah blah blah wrong u r gunna b on your stilts 2 weeks after the cast comes off :P im gunna b like lock and just not give a crap

What did they actually say about bocking? If you dont use the moving footplate you might be able to get on them sooner?

Ouch. Hope you heal up quickly Greg, nuts that your bocks have come of twice and you survived, and then you break it on a trampoline!

Greg hope you all the best ankles brake are not very good.
I had a plate in my ankle for a couple of year so know what you'll being go through.
Once the casts off you will need some physiotherapy as the plate is screwed on the bone the soft tissue around it will be sore.
Riding a bike will help but your leg will feel rought sometime.
One thing which you can think lucky is has it's winter you wouldn't be bocking too much anyway.
With luck in three months you'll be back to your old self.

They never show me my plate but I could feel it under the skin !
Now I can see it ..... Don't panic they had to remove my plate ( I broke it ).

If your going to have physiotherapy and I think most people would need some I've come up with a nice name we called Physiotherapist.
Physio terrorists. Has some of the things you may have to do may hurt, but they'll do their best to not make it hurt too much.
Like any fallen bocker you know the whole forums hopes your up and bocking ASP :thumbs:

Please listen to the doctors and take your time getting back into any sort of physical activity. Coming back too soon can lead to even longer out if you have not healed properly (trust me done that got the T)

Glad you like the morphine Greg I can't stand it it makes me feel worse than the pain when I broke my wrist the anethsetist gave me some while I was under (thought he was doing me a favour) but it was the only time I felt rough :biggrin:
Now if you drop those crutches over to me I'll extend them to Bock height mate :haha:

Just come back from the hospital greg is fine =]
hes having great fun going down the corridors on his wheelchair...lol
and hes pretty nifty on his cruches too ^^
They have moved the ps2 so he has that next to him, with a computer/freeview tv/phone thing
i have some photos if his foot pre-fixing, they are pretty...weird i will find my phone lead and pu them up in a while, or tomarrow.
hes being put in plaster tomoz and should be home after that.

oh and Jason yeah i think another one might be an idea!! extended crushes would be funny...and to rub salt into the wound his pivoting footplates arrived today. poor greggles *hug*

That is cruelty in the extreme having a set of new stilts you can't even try :banghead:
But as for the moving footplate I have bolted mine into a fixed position while my ankle is week so once he can walk on them at least he can try them out :thumbs: (listen to me he's not in plaster yet and I've already got him back on stilts :haha:)
Look after him Ellis he'll need someone to gaffer tape his cast to the bocks for a while :biggrin:

If the doctor say's it OK to use your Bocks ( I would check with them first ) I'd think the moving foot plate would help mobilize the joint after all the plates meant to make bock more like normal walking.

iv allredy asked them about bocking and they sed yer give it a week after your cast is off so il b fine and it wasent my plates it was just my straps from rich i did tell hannah that lol dunno how she thort straps were a big chunk of mettle

Theoreticly because of the plate on the bone the cast is superfluous in most cases and is more to hold the joint in one position, had the brake have been not on a joint there would be little need of a cast at all.
I known a lorry driver who was in a crash and had both legs a one arm broken and I joked he was lucky to have broken the the other. He looks at me and said they'd plated it up so he could use one !

that made no sence dk but i have my cast on for 6 weeks witch anit that bad im gunna build my self up from scratch agen tho so lurn to walk run jump and flip from scratch so use a crash mat the first few times for my flips so will b all gd

Not really DK, the bones are still broken, the plate simply reinforces them, and helps prevent a break in future as the area will be slightly weaker for ages after the cast comes off, but eventually will be stronger than the rest of the limb (They way the bone heals, it grows over the area so is thicker in that place).
If you didn't have the cast, there would be a lot more freedom of movement, so the break wouldn't heal correctly as it could slip out of alignment. The ability to move it could also cause more damage as the bones can move in an unnatural direction, which could cause wear against the plate.
I know because I asked why we cast limbs at work even though they've got pins and plates in :P
