I thought I would try to pass on what I know about a front flip on my pro jumps so I wrote this tutorial: http://www.urbantricking.com/index.php?contentId=65
and made this video to go with it. Hope you find it helpful:

Or you can download it http://www.urbantricking.com/videos/frontFlipTutorial.wmv (http://www.urbantricking.com/videos/frontFlipTutorial.wmv)

any tutorials on tricking?
Well I was thinking about doing some, but there are so many already out there there is not much point really...
check out www.trickstutorials.com and do everything that guy says! That should help loads

Very helpful and useful advice given in the tutorial and the video helps demonstrate what each step should look like.
One piece of advice which I know would have helped me is.. You talk about practicing doing flips without the PJs first so maybe you could have included one flip done in the same way without PJs in the video so we can relate the two.
But that is just a minor thing :)
I certainly will use this video when I get to the stage of doing flips but as I havn't got my PJs yet that could be a while yet ;)

I did think about this. But I thought that there were so many front flip tutorials already out there on you tube etc. that mine would not be necessary. However I think in the future tutorials I will do some demos on my feet too.
-
Nice tutorial. Should help when i get around to flips.
-
excellent vid mate.
can't wait for the next one
-
hello all i can peform front flips on trampolines and from a run on concrete and grass, so i find this very easy and i only just got my pro jumps
PEOPLE WHO ARE WILLING TO PEFORM THIS MOVE I RECCOMEND YOU TRY LANDING IT ON YOUR FEET FROM ONE BOUNCE ON A GARDEN TRAMPOLINE,as this will help perfect your technique.
you might want to try some other basic flips on the tramoline before pro jumping them
happy tricking/flipping
REASY....PM me for any tips
First post whoooo :D

Yeh that is true, what I was trying to get across in the written tutorial
-
how high do you have to get b4 you can attempt a front flip
-
that is amazing !! how cum u can get so high ! is it because u have speacial PJs or have u just practiced loads !!
justin
-
he has just practised and perfected his technique
-
how did u first start off doing flips ?? did u do it onto matts ?
justin

I think he was asking Ian (urbantricker)
Ian started off by doing gymnastics/parkour/freerunning then transferred it to bocks at a later date. He says it is best to learn it on the floor first, then do it on bocks.
-
or yopu can do it on the trampoline make note of how high you go if you can do it on one or even got one
-
I can land flips on a trampoline easily though but I can't get the rotation on bocks because of the additional weight.
It's totally different to doing it on bocks to doing it on a trampoline.
-
well sorry i forgot you knew everything :P forgot my place you see
-
lol well i do parkour and freerunning aswell i can do front and back flips on the tramp and on the floor but i cant get the corage to try it yet on the PJs lol but then again i have had them for 2 days lol owell i wanna learn fast !!
-
you have to be patient or you will get bored
-
well sorry i forgot you knew everything :P forgot my place you see
I didn't mean it like that, I was simply pointing out it was a different technique...
-
its ok i know :'(
-
Guys before trying it on your Pro Jumps (and mine are normal ones) you must be able to do it on the floor first. When I learnt it on Pro Jumps I could front flip easily on my feet and got it fairly easily on my Pro Jumps. I was able to adapt the right technique from the floor to my Pro Jumps.
If you learn it straight away on your Pro Jumps with no previous experience then it is likely you will develop a bad technique, which may be fine to start with but very hard to get out of later.
Also practicing loads on the floor gives you aerial awareness so you can feel where you are in the air and you know when to untuck. A lot of the problem on Pro Jumps is people are scared and untuck straight away, with good aerial awareness you know exactly when to untuck!
Hope this helps!
-
did you practise doing flips on matts?
-
Yes I did quite often!
-
hoe long did it take you from not being able to do it on the floor to be able to do it
-
yeh and i can do front flips and backflips on the floor. so i do have air awareness. But i dnt no where to 1st try and do it on the pro jumps ? wherre did u 1st try it ?? (that was a question to urbantricker)
justin
-
adzi, i cant really remember to be honest. with the right knowledge (watching lots of tutorials) and the right training environment (a gym preferably) it shouldnt take too long.

Justin, we had a gym which we were allowed to use our Pro Jumps in, so I first tried it in there. Which was lucky

M80's.
No need to post the question again and again, Ian might not have been online since before you posted it, so hasn't seen it yet! ::)

Ian
Do you use tyre socks
If you do would you be interested in testing a new rubber sheeting I found
http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=921.0
I have been trying it for a few days but my max height is 3ft and I would like someone extreme to test it (your name came up)
If you fancy being a test pilot ;D I can bring a set to Capital bocking for you to try at your leisure

Like Ash said it would be worth trying out m80's. Although in that video it did look like you were really trying to bottom them about. It may also be a case of working on your technique to try and get more height!

i might aswell i think im geting enough hieght

The way you show the difference between the correcxt take off and the leaning forward one is really useful. I'm a long way off doing flips, I don't even have my own stilts yet :) But I'll be watching that video a lot when I come to try them.
-
where is the best place to learn
-
at my house from the patio to the crash matts on the grass :P
DC
-
I thought you didnt have crash mats
-
Alex i swear you change your mind about crash mats almost everday
-
I used to have them when my Dad was a martial art instructor, we still have them. And I always have had them, its transporting them that I can't do :( I said at the gym meet I have some but can't transport them :(
-
Parlby this might be helpful for you, the mats are based here
http://www.templegatedojo.org.uk/dojo/dojo.shtml
In Bristol, might be useful for you, although I don't know how many there are now, or how you can possibly transport them :S
