http://www2.sportrelief.com/norwich-mile (http://www2.sportrelief.com/norwich-mile)
I am so up for doing this on Bocks!!! I'd do it in armour but I can't run in it and I will also overheat big time :D
If anyone is up for it then click the link on the website to enter and we can discuss details here, whether we're all going to wear daft outfits or not?
Also for a good cause too  And we could carry leaflets for anyone who asks about us/where to buy stilts etc, will be good PR.....
-
I've just created an entry and a "fundraising page", I think I can "add others" too so anyone who is up for it, register interest here and I'll find out about adding you. I've only said I'd do 1 mile cos not sure about anymore! There are options to go further if you wish. It's £5 to enter each.
-
I'm heading to Lincoln to do it There 2 in Lincoln and someone else nearby ( he's off there ) so there could be 4
One miles easy is do that as a warm up !
As for dressing up I could dress up as .... Batman LOL
The £5 only real covers costs :/
If your not getting sponsored you should at least add another £5 :)
With us Bocking about would add something to the day :)

-
I've got £40 sponsorship already ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
We are allowed to do the norwich one on bocks now gixer :P
-
I emailed them to ask, I emphasised we'd be WALKING on them and not jumping around madly (honest) :D
How do you know we'll be allowed? If we're not then I'm just gonna walk it in armour but I may BOIL, and if it rains I'll have to not wear it in case my weathering runs :-[ :-[ :-[
-
I'd be up for it, if i can get there, any dates/times? :)
-
16th march 10am start, ummm Norwich City somewhere, I'll get details later ;)
-
Excellent A sunday, i may well be up for it, I'l get back to you asap :)
-

I emailed asked and got a reply. And this is what they said. I put this on the noriwch mile thread too.
We are happy for you to complete your Mile on stilts however we would ask that you exercise reasonable caution to ensure the safety of all participants. Please move to the back of the wave that you are starting in so that other Milers can move off and disperse first.
-
thats great - well done :)
its nice to see the organisers just use a bit of common sence
-
Up for doing the Lincoln one at City School, organiserds want as many there as possible
Already got £50 promised
-
I emailed asked and got a reply. And this is what they said. I put this on the noriwch mile thread too.
Oooh there's a Norwich thread? Is this on the Sport Relief website?
-
Nope its on here! Naz, can you label and possible organise the 3 sport releif threads? This is the lincon.. I think. The other is norwich and there is a scout one too.
-
DUDE im up for that, just yesterday i was sayin bout bocking a mile for sport relief lol
count me in, when is it?
-
Details for all of the events are on here
http://www.sportrelief.com/get-involved/themile (http://www.sportrelief.com/get-involved/themile)
So far bockers are allowed in norwich, lincon and scouts anywhere.

I've not seen it, oops......point me the way, merge or kill this thread if you want?
-
Theres a few separate ones
I will try my best to organise it for you guy, Gixer is your one the same as Hex's on or separate?

Scouts arent allowed anywhere - only at a few locations, and they can only be registered by me and the other guy organising the Scout bockers mile! :)
-
Dont worry guys, Im giving all you lovely sports relief mile running bockers (who are about to punish themselves with sore legs and backs :nana: ) a separate section in the major events board, then Im going to attempt to make each event clear to avoid the confusion!!
But in the process of doing that I hope you forgive me if I get confused myself
-
Here is my sponsor page I created:
http://www.mysportrelief.com/ea_bockers
I've created a "team" within my page, I called it "Bock-tastic" yeah crap I know but couldn't think of anything else cos it's late ;D ;D ;D so if you've already created your own individual sponsor pages, you can search for and join this team by using my name Rachel Smith, or the team name Bock-tastic - then you just add yourself I think.
-
Is anyone wearing fancy dress or anything remotely unusual? :Dark_Knight: :Dark_Knight:
-
lol..
:Dark_Knight:
i saw you web page back a few weeks ago.. loving the sandtrooper outfit and love the idea of making the Ghost busters Pack :)
i am looking into getting a Stormtrooper outfit myself, jsut because i want to wear it around town LOL, and if you know me.. you know i would just to go buy some milk :) :) will buy one as soon as i get the cash.. Dont think i could make one though :P
-
If I can get hold of a Mankini then I might consider doing the mile in it!!
-
I've got £83 in sponsorship so far
Yeah you can get the 80s toy proton packs for about £30 on eBay, and my movie accurate nomex flight suit should be here soon, gettin ghte SMITH name patch sorted too but still need to get the "no ghost" patches sorted, but plenty of time yet. Certainly not wearing my proper replica proton pack as it's not finished yet and it would smash to pieces if I fell over with it on me, it weighs a ton too so not ideal ;D Would be great if I could carry a smoking Ghost Trap too but I've not got one .......yet
-
I got a couple of them flight suits. Lol they are from 1983. Dont have a name badge yet though :( I'm not qualified lol
-
If I can get hold of a Mankini then I might consider doing the mile in it!!
my mate wore one paintballing for his stag night, i could get that for ya, bright green, and obviously washed
:EDIT: theres a birmingham one if anyones up for it, straight down broad st
-
I think the whole idea of dressing up in the ghostbuster style is that you are supposed to have the same as they did, that would be tan, not green!! :nana:
-
Talking of dressing up I go through Twickenham every day and have done for many years I spotted a shop with Star Wars gear in it so went in
Now I'm not very observant I only noticed the shop about 2 months ago (acording to the owners its been there for many years)
Oh boy did I get a suprise it's the company that did the original Star Wars gear for the film they charge £995 for a Full Storm Trouper outfit (it actualy looks worth it the amount of gear you get even an under suit to stop it rubbing)
anyway this is their web site
http://www.sdsprops.com
They also do other stuff but if I win the pools guess what I'll be buying (always wanted to be a Storm Trouper )
Jason :Hoofies2:
-
Guess I need to start saving, or get a bigger credit card! :Straddle5:
-
Thought you'd like them mate would definately suit you sir :haha:
-
i would have to bock to work in them. or take the suit to the desert, and go on patrol in it! Maybe even do guard duty in it!
-
I am working on my ultimate bocking suit (all ideas at the moment but soon to be started)
Predator on Bocks
-
Plenty of bubble wrap jason
:haha:
-
SDS and Andrew Ainsworth were sued in America by Lucasfilm and banned from selling his unlicensed armour over there - he's also being chased in the UK too, as Lucasfilm reckon his claims of making armour "from the original moulds" are incorrect. SDS armour is thinner and more prone to cracking, as many troopers have found out, so for the cost it's not outstanding quality. My armour came from a dude in Canada, is thicker, and so far I've not damaged it and I'm a clumsy mare at the best of times! You can get better armour for a lot less than SDS gear
Anyway, back on topic - I've now raised over £100 from my online sponsor page, woooo!!  (http://www.mepd.net/forum/images/smiles/dance.gif) (http://www.mepd.net/forum/images/smiles/peace.gif)
-
Well done Gixer, keep up with the good work
-
where did you get the rocking wookie from?????????????????
-
It's a secret :P
I've now created a URL for the Bock-tastic sport relief team page - http://www.mysportrelief.com/bock-tastic (http://www.mysportrelief.com/bock-tastic) so any other EA bockers please join  I just put a random but cool pic from a London bock up there too.........
-
Oh no, I am in that pic, I am the dude with orange springs, and long hair, lol That was from Walk For Life!! that was fun, 10km of walking and bocking, and random fun, lol
-
I'm up to £163 sponsorship now, have upped my target to £200. Are no other bockers joining my team, there's only me and SX so far!!!
-

-
Because we are both special, lol
-
Special is one way of putting it!! lol!
-
I've decided to wear my Ghostbusters overalls for this event, my screen-accurate Nomex flightsuit and pistol belt are here, I got my name patch done, and my Ghostbusters arm patch is on its way. Gonna bid for one of those "fancy dress" inflatable Proton Packs on eBay as my proper Proton Pack isn't built yet and is DEFINITELY not safe for Bocking in (weighs a ton and cost the earth). An inflatable one should be a useful cushion if I end up stacking it again :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
(http://www.tk2441.co.uk/buster/patch.jpg)
-
Does this mean that I have to dress up as a tart again??? or maybee a ghost?????
-
You can be Slimer :P :nana:
If I win the inflatable proton pack on eBay there will be a sete of overalls that come with it - in no way screen accurate, it's just a cheap fancy dress kit, but if anyone else wants to be a "Buster" with me then I'll lend you the Fancy Dress overall :D
-
ok, I just need a green sheet, and a pair of scissors . . . . . .
-
Can anyone mock up a Mr Stay Puft Marshallow Man outfit???
-
would there be any at a fancy dress shop??
-
ok, I just need a green sheet, and a pair of scissors . . . . . .
Or going drinking the night before
-
I think I will go as a numpty in my long trousers lol. Have you tried your stormtrooper outfit on bocks yet?
Mr marshmellow man? WTF?
-
Can anyone mock up a Mr Stay Puft Marshallow Man outfit???
They make a inflatable sumo outfit maybe you could alter that ?
-
I can only find the ghostbuster outfit online and we cant have two can we!
-
Well there were 4 Busters in the film weren't there - DOH!!!!
-
would you mind if i did??
-
You will have no proton pack unless u can bag one on ebay - the plastic 1980s toy ones are increasing in value and with the release of the Ghostbusters XBox game later this year, I think it will increase even more. I'm still going for an inflatableone though, mainly for cushioning my back if I stack it again!
-
if it is a school day i might not come but if it isnt and im doing nothing then ill come for support
-
Does this mean that I have to dress up as a tart again??? or maybee a ghost?????
why not go as a tart whose a ghost :nana:
-
My tart costume is a gothic tart, so I could turn it into a Zombie tart! :scool:
-

Sandtroopers or Desert Troopers ( same thing !? ) are still Stormtroopers !
Their just a specially trained divisions of Imperial Stormtroopers equipped with modified armor and equipment to withstand the harsh climates of desert planets.
And becuse she wears a white uniform it makes her a officer as for the gun that's an unknown type of blaster.
I know my Troopers

-

-
I've got the videos on my Facebook, will put on the EA Bockers Facebook Group in a mo :D Tried and failed to put them on here :banghead: :banghead:

It was a fantastic day!! well worth getting wet, even If I have managed to leave my pads and wrist protectors somewhere in the city!! Argh!!!!!! :banghead: :banghead: but the pain of running after the woman was well worth it!!! hehe!
-
Doh! Hmm...she didnt seem to like you...she was running away!
-
Doh! Hmm...she didnt seem to like you...she was running away!
LOL he did get her number :D
Bet she wasn't even doing the mile in the frist place
-
had seen her run round us once already, and knew then that I would chase her if I saw her again!!! hehe! Didnt get her number, but she was running the mile, same as us, and she didnt know I was there till I ran past her with my cam going saying 'Hiya!!!!'
-
Best bit was the warm-up at the start, Spud was getting right into it ;D ;D ;D ;D if we'd not been surrounded by kids I'd have filmed her but I was too worried about falling onto a kiddie!!
-
hehe I was well into it. It was quite hard on bocks! hehe I can dance like a twirp but the stairs still get me lol. I liked the puddle best!!
-
lol puddles are fun on bocks, as I remember jason getting soaked as he bocked through a puddle, lol
-
Gixer check out the JJ vid sport relief vid, something in there reminded me of you!
-
yeah great to hear you had a good time doing it, we were asked to do it by some of the sport relief people in birmingham who noticed our meet, we desided we would then got refused on "health and safty" reasons
-
Thats a shame becuase lots of venues had them. I think next year they will allow a lot more bockers as it drew alot of attention.
-

Either grumpy or scared of the unknown. But getting lots of good publicity so soon it should no longer be a problem...just as it stays good :)
-
Gixer check out the JJ vid sport relief vid, something in there reminded me of you!
Can't wait to her in her out-fit !
Bit sexest but don't most people think yout a lad in it !?
I got a hug from a big fluffy teddy once and looked at their face and said " I hope your a girl !? ". I think I hear a voice laugh and say " yes ! ". Well I hope I did :-\
You could have a bit of fun and hug a nice looking lad out with his mates ! If he's lucky you could mumble " Give us a kiss ? " They'd laugh thinking it's a gay Sandtrooper until you took the helmet off :-* :o
-

-
i want to hear them now :haha:
-
Thats a shame becuase lots of venues had them. I think next year they will allow a lot more bockers as it drew alot of attention.
The Scout Association put a lot of work in this year to get the approval of Sport Relief for us to take part. I guess now all the forms and stuff have been done they will allow more people to run next year! (The Scouts were insured though - not sure whether that would make a difference) :) i reckon bockers take over next year - at least one at every event!!

One at every event is a good idea
Wait I can see a problem there was about 8 in my area and I think there's only 4 of us to cover them !?
And isn't it every two years ?
-
I got a sponsored walk this friday, with my youth group, to help raise funds to get us out to Australia, I am so going to loose them out there to find some Aussie Bockers, lol
-
