Title: People Watching You
Post by: aztectrev on April 19, 2007, 06:00:08 PM
Was on my projumps outside my house yesterday, and there was alot of school kids walking home past me, why I was practicing, and nearly everyone of them stopped to watch me for a min or two, was unbelievable, then again you do get the odd person who starts shouting at you, trying and make you fall  :P But still big groups of kids just stopped and watched. Even some passing cars slowed almost to a halt just to get a longer look :P

PRO-JUMPS ROCK!

Never been so noticed in all my life :P

Goob job I didn't fall I didn't show myself up  ;D

Anyone else had encounters like this?  :D

I think its more the case --any1 been totally ignored :o)

I got handed £10 of organic bathtime products just walking thru bournemouth square at christmas ( was about all I could do at the time). Some one was giving them out as part of a promotion, rushed up to me and shouted 'you've got to have these your so tall'

While in tenby sat at a bench having lunch on bocks this old guy came up to me...

him> are they adjustable at all?
me> What would you think needs adjusting?
him> so you can jump higher?
me> well you just jump harder to get more height
[dirty look from him]
him> you're full of sh*t

and he walked off.
Funniest thing I ever experienced on bocks....no wait that was crab hunting on the rocks....no wait it was when bobman nearly fell in the lake...no wait....powerbocking rocks :)

People watching you is one thing, but being mistaken for a really tall person is just strange :P Or perhaps they were just being ignorant  ;D

One guy came out of his house to me the other day, and says to me," i've seen the advert with these in, on the tele, and i was wondering, How the hell you get down from them?!?!". I wasn't sure what to tell him, as I was still new to them  :D, so I just told him "You have to fall off" :P

Some other people seem to be scared of me with them on, they seem to go all quiet and shy, and walk away, and watch me from a distance so I can't see them  ;D. I mean one guy hid behind his van whilst trying to watch me :P

lol, i've experienced the same thing getting used to walking going to and from college today, lots of smiles, lots of "where did you get them?" and a few scowls and a few "do this, do that" people...

Funniest thing for me so far is walking by a pub and being able to walk with my head and shoulders well over a tall fence smiling and nodding to people in the beer garden, lol

Q 'how high can you get'
A 'deepends what suff my dealer gets me'

Ive also been stood on them and been asked 'are they real?'

and a m8 was stood on his when some1 came up to him and said ' ive seen them on tv  they're computer generated aint they'!!!

I am the only one at Uni with them, so walking round campus everyone looks! You also get the people who look at the floor as they walk past you - like they havent seen you! The Uni vans normally swerve down the road too, cos they have stopped looking at the road and are staring at me!

I was out in my street a few days ago, and a car drove past the end of the street, then reversed back down past it to get another look!

Heehee got them today and i normally get some crazy looks anyway (big hairy dude usually in tie dye...) but add projumps to them and wahey- they cant look away! :D
'tis awesome.
Especially around university campus :p

I got my PJ's 2 two days ago.
I was at Cardiff bay today, and the number of attention is incredible!  :o
People below me, on balconies, around me, even in cafe's or pubs! :-\
I was going past like the biggest pub... And I heard people shouting from above... I looked up to see what was going on... But all just looking at me!  :o Some taking photos of me...  All on the balcony, alot of people... They were all like 'Go on!' and I heard one dude shouting 'Go on fancy boy!' lol.
Then I was in the big, free area, with some big pillars. And there were people watching me from the outside...  :o
Then one guy told me to hop... But I simply said 'No'.  ;)
Go there yourselves some day... People pointing, whispering, staring...
I had to keep reminding myself that I'm not a celebrity...  ;D

Wow... Just went to my local park and here's the story:
First of all, an angry dog tried to jump on me, but it was on a lead.
Then I saw a boy with Heelys, and he said 'My dad is getting me those on the internet.' Then his mum just said to him, 'No he's not dear.' Then the boy just walked off.
Then a duck hissed at me while all the others were just staring! Yeah, that's right. Duck's staring at me!
Then I went passed a happy couple, who were strangely whispering to eachother...  :-\
I went on the pavement now. No more strange starers... Woops, I forgot all about the cars! Some cars were slowing down trying to see me. Some even turned slightly towards me... Then quite alot of them, when they went passed me, they looked at their mirrors...
Back in the park. Then I went passed some posh old man who mumbled something to me. But then I laughed, sarcastically.
And not only a duck was staring at me, a dog was also looking at me! Standing still while it's owner was commanding it to follow. :-X
Then I saw two campers. One was talking to the other, unfortunately, the other person was concentrating straight at me.
And then I went to buy some milk. But on my way... A car was driving past... And another dog was keeping his/her eye on me!  :o
Anyway, after I bought the milk, the shopkeeper came out of the shop. And I was thinking to myself, "I didn't steal anything..." But no, for a different reason. Yup, you guessed it, my PJ's.
Maybe I should go to town now... ;)

I agree, PJ's might be just as dangerous as heelys but we don't go bouncing around airports and annoying old ladies(not that much anyway) and people love watching us bounce. I hate heelys >:( Why would anyone buy them instead of PJ's??
Title: Re: People Watching You

Because the parents have no common sense!!! Just buy them a bike or a skateboard, or pay a little bit extra for a set of PJ's!!!!

So someone was misfortunate enough to be killed whilst wearing heelys (sp) and that automatically makes bocks better than them...... LOL. You guys all sound like it's a case of "we're better than you"

Well most PJ user are responsible. I think Heelys are more dangerous to the public. In my opinion, bocks ARE better than heelys anyway.  :PAlthough I suppose most parents would be more ready to let their children buy Heelys as they seem less dangerous.

I think the kid in heelys got run over ( it was evening and dark) partly cos the driver estimated his likely speed but a wizz on the heelies and no looking at the road and the kid was under the car :o(

Police seem to hve no probs with 'risers. I do get problems with private security guards who say I 'might fall over ' and hurt people .

As the police have agreed with me if you fall on risers you just got striaght down and just hurt yourself ( possibly). Now as skate boards and rollerblades are banned in most shopping centres and bocks seem for the most part unwelcome, it would be interesting to walk into a shopping centre and start pointing out kids on heelys and demand action and if not why. As this would mean demanding the kids leave or have to take their shoes off would be dead funny. And remain watching all the time and point out that if you dont see it kept up you will be of the opinion that sk8 boards etc should not be banned  ;D

oo i love to stir things up

I got Heelys 7 months before my PJ's, and I think Heelys are much more dangerous.
Lets just say, if your going really fast on them, like a hill or ramp etc, you wouldn't have time to check what's infont of you or anything. And if anything gets in your wheel... Too bad. You might have broken something.
And PJ's are more than 50x better than Heelys. You even need really smooth ground to actually use the wheel in shoe.
What do you prefer:
1) A wheel in your shoe
2) Jumping 6'ft high, and running at 20mph. Along with great exercise and looking nice and tall.
I choose... 2.

Lol freakazoid, I think the kid was slightly jealous. :D

i had a bus driver slow down and give me the thumbs up! ha ha

also i got a number of looks from people passing in cars, i got the odd one or two people shout abuse :^( sad world wen people get abuse for doing something totaly cool but different?!

and the best one there was a jogger coming towards me and i could see the confusion on his face and then he just paniced and decided to cross the road (was on the pavment out side my house)

Also animals, get alot of dogs (including my own) looking at me with total confusion and some start panicing and barking (mine is one of thos)

and in the response to the heelies thing i dont think we should ruin their fun i am just jelious that bords and blades have been banned (and the bocks kinda)
but it is obvious why there are some ass holes that dont think about how they annoy others.

peace out and happy bocking!

hate van drivers who drive past you and give you abuse i think its cause ther too fat to use them lol.

some supermarkets are ok with bocks at the min i think it depends how many of you there are i mean if 1 person went in on them they would probly ask you to take them off but if 5 or more went into a shop etc with them i think they would leave you to it as long as you was sensible plus you can help little women doin there shoppin by passin the things off tall shelves to them lol  :P  ;D

My m8 got attacked by a dog last nite!!

It kept bighting his feet.! Was quite amusing tho ;D.

Got loads of looks as well. We normally meet up thursday evenings for a bounce, We didnt realise it was 'bournemouth live' music festival this week. So in the space of 150M from the pier to the town centre there were two stages, a music tent, a traditional park band stand and a samba drum band. Plus a shake/smoothee bar, beer tent and food tent. Loads of peeps around -alot of students havin photos taken with us.

Unfortunatly no rock bands --the 3 of us wanted to have a good mosh ;D

Cheers for reminding me about that, Q.  I thought his teeth were going to go through my shoes.  For some reason the dog left Q and "Her heighness" and just decided to attack me.  He should have gone for Q but I don't think he had his Postie scent on, lol.

It was good to have some music going to bounce/dance too.  Although, as Q said, it would have been better if it was rockier/punkier.

Police are cool. I had a police car pull over and 2 cops started quizzing me --said they had been watching me and m8s for weeks, They thought they were fun. I asked and they said they saw no H&S problems, as they did with sk8 boards  and bikes and blades.

In front of bournemouth pier had 1 car pull up and the cop lent out and started shouting 'do tricks do tricks'. Same with police support bods  really friendly. I think we are now an accepted feature of bournemouth centre. Along with the hippy drummers, parkour kids bottle jugglers ( flairing isnt it) and the like.

Only problem Ive had at times is with private security guards. But only a few times .

We had a load of us shopping in Tesco's at the Cardiff meet, they didn't mind one bit and the security helped us to pay for our stuff in the express till lanes. It is the best Tesco's I have ever been into.

I love the attention on them. Bbmthbloke, you mentioned that cops are cool. Don't come to Medway then. Police here are worse scum then the criminals. I fell over in front of 2 police officers and about 150 goth kids. The goth kids ran over to help me up and not one of them laughed. The police laughed, and when they found out I hurt myself they laughed even harder.

I'd love to meet some nice police because 20 years living in Medway has left me with the opinion that the only good police officer is a dead one.

Well said ET
I am always polite to police and they cut you a lot of slack if your nice to them

The only time I have met an impolite policeman was the one that fell off his motorcycle chasing me (I was 17 at the time and had no idea they were trying to stop me )  ;D

I suppose that droping your bike round a corner would make anyone unhappy but he was generous he gave me my first speeding ticket 40 in an 30 limit (admitedly sideways in the rain) ;D

So get together and form a solid front.  But kiola and jeez  have been around since last year and seem to be doing good.

I got stopped my some police in Liverpool street station coming out of the underground. Made me take them off too.... Was funny though cos the other came over while I was taking them off and started chatting to me about them. I really like how everyone looks at you though. But walking up an down Shenfield and Billericay highstreets today, couldn't go 5 metres without some-one cheering stopping mo to talk to them or given my funny looks. I also got my picture taken for the local paper today, walking school to pick my results up (reporter had just finished doing that story and thought I was awesome on them). Also got told off my a lady in Euston underground saying I'm not ment to wear them on the tube.

I think stakeboards, heelies, etc are more dangerous because they have wheels, so move on their own once you start off, rather than PJ's which only go where you want them... and don't fly off and hit people when you fall over.

I need to get a T-shirt that says 'NO! I can't do tricks' on it, at least for a while.... If people ask for a trick I'll tell them to do one first...

Also the ticket people hanging round the barriers at Shenfield Station asked me why I was buying tickets when I could just jump over the barriers, twice! (Once going there to Billericay then coming back again) lol. I answered 'cos I can't jump that high', lol. should've said cos it was wrong, less wimpy answer.

But people shouting from cars 'do a trick' is anoying...

Yes! Nice idea lol.  I've been looking into getting a T-Shirt printed advertiseing an upcoming play I'm in on it, as it'd be really good publicity!
I also wounder if I could make some kind of money on them through advertiseing.. being payed to walk around town advertiseing something in some way.. :P

I keep finding myself having to assure my friends that I got them simply because I wanted them, not for attention ^.^  I've bought them to a couple of partys, but I think I'll stop doing that now, as I just end up being too distracting.

I do quite a bit in the theatre so I'm used to being on stage and having people look at me, but I'm naturally quite modest, so I end up feeling a bit awkward in public areas.. although I think screatly deep down I like the attention a bit :)
I agree with whats been said about people, there are 4 kinds: Those who stand and watch. Those who come up and ask questions. Those who shout "do a trick" / mock you etc. And those who carry on walking, pretending nothings phased them :D

Although sometimes I'm like these last people, pretending that no ones looking at me  :)

Haha nice. I'm from the SW, Cornwall, on the north coast. We had a Buttons in the main panto in Truro last christmas, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't wearing Projumps :)

Me and some friends are putting a play on, by ourselves, in early September.. I'm trying to think of a way of sticking Bocks in there somehow.. :P

lol. Or maybe a mutant kangaroo or is that too obvious? I like your ring wraith idea, maybe go as a reaper type creature, tall = intimidatly, with huge cleak+hood and sythe.... that'd be so neat.

Oh I forgot one !  :o
One thing about that one you can use the sythe to lean on so you can stand still ( Put a rubber foot on it ).
A 7 foot tall hooded figure waving a 8 foot sythe ! Just don't walk down the street like that the poor old coppers will s##t themselfs  ( You go ! No it's your turn, you go !!  )  :o  ;D

lol. So funny. What about the face cos some reapers have skull heads, others have no face, just black inside their hood. Which'd be better? And what about hands? lol, I'm so going to do this!

Black out look good but if you eating then it's not so good !
A mask it's too bad but then again eating and also you'd hot !
Make up would be best, white face darken around the eyes to make then look sunken and dark gray lips  8)

Neat. Now all I need is to either find a 7 foot tall costume or get some-one to make one, and same for the 8 foot scythe, I can do the face make-up already though. Anybody good at sewing and such? I'm offering money.

Piece of advice....don't split kick and split your trousers, then have to go home in a 7ft cloak (or wateva) you get even stranger looks then..... :-[

i got told i look stupid while i was out on mine :'(

Of course i ignored them because it was by a large group of the good'ol fashioned 6yr old mini chav in full burbury complete with baseball cap tipped at an impossible angle and trousers tucked into socks and a face the was almost beaten with an ugly stick however the beater turned to stone.

I thought about saying '...and you don't?' but i didn't because i feared they might have some kind of contagious disease or something ;D (and i can't run properly yet)
