Title: Piece of plastic
Post by: DePaw on August 11, 2007, 05:32:40 PM
After a couple of days with my new pro-jumps I noticed that one was making weird noises. After some inspection I found that there's a piece of plastic between the spring and the metal stuff on the joint below the foot (where it joins to the spring part), but on one this was missing, presumably fallen out. I'm worried that using them without this with damage my spring and carbon fibre is expensive, also the noise and that it has a different springiness because of this. Should I try to just fill it up with something or phone up pro-jump asking for another piece of plastic?

I'll try to take some pictures soon so you know exactly what it is.

They ALWAYS fall out.

Try either of these two methods to fix it

Thanks. Do you have any suggestions on how to keep them in, so they don't keep falling out?

lol. I need to get some tape and tape up my springs and I'll tape the plastic in too. I'm not going on my pro-jumps until I can get some plastic there again as I've prolly already half destroyed the spring from bocking for 2 weeks without one.  :-[ Prolly shouldn't have done that but I wanted to play on them and had no internet access as I was on holiday so couldn't ask about them. What kind of tape is good? I have a B&Q just round the corner from me btw. Also apart from the main part of the spring should you tape anywhere else like the lower part of the spring down to the foot?

There are so many posts on here about taping the springs so try these also a couple of plastic packer ideas and If your hoofs are wearing you might want to fit some tyre socks

Thanks Jason. :P I'm just wondering whether using card is safe as the plastic is actually quite wider. But I think I should card it up until I get some plastic so I'm not bouncing striaght onto the spring without any cushioning.

All you've got to do is fold the card over multiple times until it is thick enough :)

Thanks. There's plenty of cardboard around the house, I'll cut some up in a bit them test it out.

The guy's emailed me saying I'll get three pieces in 3-6 working days, in the mean time I folded up a loo roll holder and stuffed it in. For tape, is gaffa ok?

There is meant to be a white one between the spring and the roller. Sounds like yours has fallen out too.
Phone projump and ask for replacements ;)
