Hello everybody, I'm thinking about buying a pair of bocks but I'm not really sure. I am 1,89 meters tall (5.73ft) and I am a bit afraid of using the bocks because even if you wear protections, falling from that height must hurt!! (don't you think so?). Do you think that it would be easy for me to fall? Notice that I am seventeen years old and I may grow up a bit more.
Thanks in advance for the help!!

I'm somewhere between 5'7" and 5'8" and I've never had a problem :)
-
I'm 5'10'' 1.78m and not worried about it because I'm not falling from that high but from the height of the bocks, about 0.6m. If you look at videos of people falling, most fall onto their knees first so I think height shouldn't make much difference. :Cnah:

i'm 6 ft 2/3 ish.. i've fallen a few times but its not far too fall! I fell in front of loads of people after failing to jump properly and it didn't hurt i just looked silly!
Timmy
p.s.. its not 'easy' to fall because you're tall though!!

im 6.1, and jumped about 2-3foot in the air yesterday and fell, landed on hard ground :P
was wearing no pads... and it didnt hurt, had alot of addrenaline. so if you are wearing pads you will be fine me thinks... your natural instinct to fall a certain way that you prefer comes through for you most the time :)

But u were prob hunger over too Alex.
Ref alling, normally 1
'falls off the springs' at the bottom of a bounce and near max compression. So thats only , ooo, 4-5 inches high. Added the fact that 1 will prob be prouching and in a stressed position in anticipation of a possible crash ( and all speed stopped). So in reality, 1 is actaually gonna be falling from pretty near 1's normal height.
Falling on these stilts, id say, is about the same ( at medium to worse) as falling in a football or rugby tactal up to a semi serious mountain bike bail. Most time its just a bit of 'ooo it hurts' to 'cool blood' upto 'erm, lads I think I may need to go to hospital'.
Mainly its just scr***es. I know quite a few peeps over 6 foot who jump about...and indeed fall.... with no great probs

im only 5ft 8in but it dosnt bother me its my age that bothers me you only see youngsters on stilts which is great but im 35yr i love it ps is there a left and right stilt how can i tell
-
there is no real left and right bock but it's best to have the binding buckles on the outside of your foot so you don't catch them together and break them. the rest of the bock is identical.
-
I put my bocks on 'the wrong way' at the last JJ meet i was at.. It took an effort to put them on (its a sports hall and theres no walls to sit on just the wall to lean on) and i cant get up from the floor so i just kept them on and hoped no one asked ;)
It felt weird but just cos I hadn't done them like that before..

come on guys insert a comment im a lil lost 4 words :Claugh: cos im sure ive been a problem once or twice

I can beat that one timtom :Claugh:
Got back on a set of bocks that I havn't used since the Pompy meet I went to (months I think)
I'm still not sure how but I had the bocks on the right feet but the bindings were the wrong way round ??? (I know as the cuffs are offset)
Still can't figure out how it happened at first I thought I was going mad as even though I changed the springs it wouldn't make the bindings wrong
Unless Clive swapped them while I wasn't looking as a Joke :Claugh:
