Title: what powerskip springs do i get!
Post by: Joe Legg on January 22, 2008, 09:59:28 AM
ok just hoping you lot can help as I going to need some new springs or powerskips soon.

at the moment I have a type of poweriser im not allowed to mention on here (but they are yellow and they are the t-*** model)

and my problem is I'm starting to bottom them out now and again and it will start hurting my back soon.
so i want to buy some more but dont know what to get.
do i get some new powerskip springs and put them on the powerisers i got ( but what size spring do i get if i bottoming t-***'s 11-14 stone springs/and 11 stone)
or do you think i should not bother just changing the springs and just go all out and get powerskips as it will be well worth it in the end as I know I like the sport.(i kinda feel like going this way as I think i will buy some in the end anyway)

So if i get some powerskips what springs do i get if im bottoming out 11-14stone (yellow vertion T-***'s) and im 11stone? thats my main problem.

please help.

the one and only soul rancher!

You need to have a chat with tundraH he has the heavier set of Skip springs that they don't advertise and they seem to work for him

I don't know if the lads at Good Deals would stock them but they should be able to order them from the Boecks (worth giving them a ring)

The ones they have at work look like they would fit on to a set of PJ's but I couldn't say for sure as I am not allowed to play with the skips at work (for obvious reasons )

Hey Joe,

Off course your allowed to mention your t-rex, we just dont allow links to other retailers and obvious advertising  :)

With Powerskip springs you need to go for the extreme use for your actual weight rather than one for the standard user... below is the chart

PS640              Recommended bodyweight    Maximum jumping height
standard use:                      95-115 kg                   1,40 m - 1,10 m
Extreme use:                       70 - 95 kg                   1,90 m - 1,40 m

PS580          Recommended bodyweight   Maximum jumping height
Standard use:             85-105 kg                          1,40 m - 1,10 m
Extreme use:              60 - 85 kg                          2,00 m - 1,40 m

PS520          Recommended bodyweight    Maximum jumping height
Standard use:            75-95 kg                           1,40 m - 1,10 m
Extreme use:             50 - 75 kg                          2,00 m - 1,40 m

I think the only two people on the forums that can tell you if its better just to go for just the frame or the whole powerskip would be Colin or Kiola.

PS720             Recommended bodyweight         Maximum jumping height
standard use:       Kiola kg   i can get whay over my own head height which is 6ft1" = 185cm
Extreme use:               Tundrah kg  ;)

the frame is a masterpiece of its own brand new.. all the pieces are made so well that it clarifies why they cost so much.. and thats what you need to consider if your thinking betwen the 7s or the Skips.

sorry missed your weight mention, so you're about 70kg

I think the ideal one for you would be the PS640 springs as your just at the beginning of the extreme use recommendation for that spring, I think the 720's will be really stiff for you and the skip springs are meant to retain their stiffness for a lot longer as well so 720's wont give you the best.

I agree with Naz, the 640's would serve you best.

my turn for needing help now lol, I am just over 10st, 64kgs, I am currently using 90kg springs and almost bottoming them out when i get series of jumps in, and looking at buying a set of skips soon, or just skip springs to put on my PJ's, I need some help to choose the right spring for me, as I am not sure if I should go for the 580's or the 640's
Title: Re: what powerskip springs do i get!

well im 11st and was bottoming out t-rexs and i went for 640s and they are just right for me.
(but they are really stiff brand new!)
but i dont know what the 90 are like but i would say go for the 520 if you want some spring and bounce, but go for the 640 if you want a challange but they will take some more effort to use but will get more hight.

(i let the welshes have a go on mine the weekend, and the 9.5 stone guy said they were hard work, but jono who is 9stone loved them, and was getting loads of hight)

you right on the bridge between 520 and 640.

i would say go for 520 if you want a easier bounce, but go for 640 if you feel you are a really strong bouncer as it will give you more hight.

(but saying again they are stiff when you first get them, they took about 2 days bouncing hard to loosen mine up)

thats my opinion.  ;D

Id have to agree with you on this, it would be hard to judge the right one for you... But if you think you have enough power then and only then go for the 640's or you will be disapointed as it will really tire you out.

thanks for your help guys, I will settle for some 580's and see how I fair with them, as I should be able to use them with no probs, as 520's might be too easy for me, and would feel like me going back on 70's where there is alot of flex, and I don;t feel safe when it does that!!

Do you guys think 520's is the right choice for me? I weigh around 55kg and I can bottom out my poweriser 7090 springs after a series of jumps.

Hi Zeri

I have a set of 520's and 640's and I have been on 100's and 90's

I would say that 640's are around the 90/100 range when they are worn in
The 520's are a bit lower so if you are bottoming 7090's easily go for the 640's as you will bottom the 520's

But best if you can find someone to let you try some as at the price they are you don't want to be buying the wrong set

Hmmm, I think I'll be going for the 520's pros. How efficient are skips compared to the other brands?

From what I've seen and experienced Zeri Skip springs are softer for the same weight so you can get more control but that also means you can go to higher weights and get a lot more height

The guy to ask is Tim (Chocl8) as he borrowed my 640's and had them up to 8ft (to the hoofs) It scared the life out of me

I don't know how much he weigs but he's very light compared to me  :Claugh:

ok my turn on this kinda topic, I currently have s-rex 90-120s i've had them abput a year  and think there on there way out, there seem to be getting softer.
My question is:
are then strong springs than than s-rex 90-120's?

Easily. 7's are on the soft side. Projump springs are stiffer.

i've broken 110's and 120's in the past in a fairly short space of time

Then skips probably wouldn't stand a chance!

The most powerfull spring available is the Powerskip 720 but the downside is it will probably break after about 2 months if your lucky, they are so stiff but if your strong no one will be able to jump higher, i remember kiola in Mallorca it was embarassing for the 7's guys because he was jumping at least a foot higher than anyone else there. I would buy Chris's pair that he's selling off from Push Your Limits as the've never been used. Either that or go for the 640 that will last longer or just get a new pair of S Rex springs.

Modify - I seriously wouldn't bother putting a Powerskip spring on any other frame other than a powerskip. The spring is slightly more open so it has a longer travel distance that helps with the height. It would be like asking Dot Cotton to wear a G String, it's possible but the two just don't go together.

Mate, i have my old set of S-rex X springs that i can't use anymore due to my knees, i'm still willing to sell them, they are in pretty good condition still as well! They are a lot newer/stiffer than yours were at CB when i had a go on them.

chocl8, was your injury from bocking?
Title: Re: what powerskip springs do i get!
Post by: Hilly-of-the-Marshes on January 10, 2010, 05:30:23 AM
no, that was an older injury, bocking just hurts it now when he puts a lot of force through, such as when using extra-hard springs - i believe it was a hockey injury but wouldnt be surprised if that was wrong, but im sure it was pre-bocking, as we started around the same time

Hockey and skiing. I can use S-rex's, 110's and kinda 720's, but i can't walk the next day :(
