I had a look at some of the photos in JJ and I seem to have pulled a really odd facial expression in every single one.

ive got no 'random kit' at mo   but camera memory stick, a padded bag ( wot Im not sure I like) and additional insurance ( which was prob a rip off)   just over £500.  Mines Nikon  I liked feel of it in hand and 2nd hand lense are cheap and abundant.   You can get Sony a fair bit cheaper  but I hear that buying bits will b more expensive in long run.

Mine doesnt do video, which would have been nice on 1st pass. But think it would temp me to video instead. May get a cheap compact vid and a small trippod in future  and just set that up to run whilst i do stills.

Dark Castles, a starter kit with camera, lens, charger, memory card, and random other pieces will set you back around £650 for a half-decent DSLR.

ash  yes i know all that with iso un speeds  dont worry  and yes ive git 100's of bad pix un a few good.  but i am now trying to play with depth of vision un trying to get the 'rite' blur into shots  tho that may take a different lens 4 effects i want

It's not field of depth Q, it's shutter speed/exposure - It's too slow/long.

I suspect you're using it on automode?
Switch to manual, and play with exposure settings until you get a nice clear image with no blur and good contrast. It'll involve lots of practice and taking hundreds of useless and horrendous shots, but once you learn the right shutter speed, focal depth and ISO levels to use, you can get some REALLY nice photos. However, you'll still take rubbish ones too, cuz I know Becky, Derek and I do :Claugh:
