i have wondered that too in the past...
wonder wonder
-
may be the next choon that they r queuing up maybe?
-
lol you lot...
thank god for bb
bloke is right...
they have to get the next tune ready at the start
so there is no gap.... or locate a track on an ep...
otherwise the crowd would hear him messing....
some just use pc's now anyhow...and just link them up...
only live dance types really use em now
-
Its also so they can ensure the microphone levels are correct or any other sound source....which is why you can clearly tell we dont have headphones on when we do radiobock :) If they didnt use the headphones then their own mic sound would get caught in a feedback loop which would be horrible and drown out any other sound.

its a fashion its them acting all weird and also they can hear parts of the music we can not so they now what to mix

ok i was a dj for 3 years.
u wear headphones to get the base line of 2 tracks to match b4 u mix the tracks into each other givin a clear un-noticeable mix, also used for gettin a gd clear sound play back of how the microphone is coming accross and u can test all audio going out for example doin a set with a band u can test the levels and balance the 2 out 2 each other
