The first thing when trying to run fast on stilts is that it's not so much running but jogging :o

Don't try to run has at first you will end up dragging your hoof alone the ground and tripping over.
Becuse of the power of the spring action you will find you need to bring the knee up has you would jogging, this may sound like you'll be slow but you'll be surprized how fast your going !
Has you jog lean forward a little to gain more speed. Once your jogging like this you can then try not to left your knee so high ( watch out that your not dragging your hoof ) this means you can kick it down more and get even faster.

Another thing you'll need to learn is stopping quicker !? The first time I got any speed up I ended up grabbing a sign to stop running !?

Yep DK's got it fairly right

Easy way to explain it is if you have ever seen the Six Million Dollar Man you can run like he used to almost like slowmotion the speed comes from the length of stride you take not how fast your legs move

Remember if you are taking 3mt strides every second your going a 50% faster than a man taking two 1mt strides every second

I will have to give it a try sometime. My biggest prob atm is making them fit. I am going to sort it today. I need some straps and to add more padding around the knee bar. Going to add some pipe insulatior suff aswell as the tea towels lol. I got my voltige stilts too and they are too big aswell. Need to pad them out :/

You do have knee/shin pads !? They should help fill the gap !?
