Anyone use them? As well as providing lower spine protection they protect your hips and thighs too....if anyone uses them, what brands are recommended? If I wore just a backguard then my hips are unprotected.....I'm v. skinny and would snap easily I think so I need ultra-padding :(
-
I can't say if anyone wears them but it's nice to know people are thinking of safety
(Becky's shorts made a impact ) :o
-
They have been talked about on here. They can't be a bad idea seeing as most people mention buying them after they have hurt thier lower back or someting.
There really is no harm in it if you are worried and also getting them will give you a peace of mind if you are worried about "snapping".
You should just research and shop around...look for good recommended brands and stuff by spying on other peoples forums...I think they are used by snowboarders lots.
-
Spud, I think she realises that she needs to look around  she is just trying to see what other people do!
-
Yea Again a good idea. Lol another one is dont fall! But that cant be helped
-
There's always Bill C's tail bone protection
(http://www.powerbockresources.com/tailbonepad-w.jpg)TAIL BONE PROTECTION
Falling backwards onto one's butt from such a height can easily cause a painful tail bone injury. A simple padding solution is to cut four 10" lengths of foam pipe insulation tubing and tape them together with duct tape. Then, all you do is slip the home-made pad vertically down into the back of your pants as part of your bocking safety equipment. You may be very glad you did.
-
Is this a way to get closer to a Jlo bum? :P
-
haha
but you still wont be able to insure your behind for as much as she does :nana:
-
Not used impact shorts
I have to protect my shoulders as well as my other bits so bought the body armour which includes a back protector.
Not massivley cool but at my age never going to be and i now take a lot longer to heal :D
-
My mum makes me wear that. I look like a robo cop and a ninja turtle (I have to wear a helmet too, lime green hehe)
-
Always better to be protected seen too many guys seriously injured because of bravado
My son who is 13 has bocks and I also ensure he wears the kit, he makes the same comments.
-
Its not that bad. Just feel a little over dressed but if i am completly honest all the safety gear actually fits the look you have on bocks. So you only look stupid not on bocks as long as you are on them you dont look too bad
-
I just wear knee pads, and wrist guards, planning about getting a spine protector!!
-
You can join the robo cop crew then
-
Back to impact shorts, i have used them for freestyle skiing, and my sister uses them for snowboarding, in the event of a huge crash they help i guess, but i don't use them for bocking as they are a bit bulky and i find restrictive. They are not that expensive at £25 ish, which is good though :)
-
If you pay more are they less bulky or just same?
-
i just wear knees and wrist pads i did were elbows wen i was starting out and learnin my tricks but now i cant move that well with them on lol
-
If you pay more are they less bulky or just same?
There seem to be loads of different types and thickness regardless of cost....either way they're gonna make my bum look big :o but I'd rather that then do my back in :-\
-
Just wear baggy trowsers then :nana:
-
Or just wear a spine protector!
-
Or just wear a spine protector!
But that doesn't protect your pelvis and the lower lumbar area's :-\
The hip a stronge and the back meant to curl up !?
If you feel myself falling backward the first thing is don't tense up, your more likely to break a bone if you tense up !?
Ever noticed how drunk poeple fall over and get up ( and fell over again ) and hardly hurt themseleves, their relaxed,P :censored: D but relaxed ;D
-
Falling on your butt can hurt loads. I remeber a time on a seesaw. That really hurt lol
-
Or just watching people fall over, when not use to bocks!!
-
You sort of learn how to fall on bocks aswell after time, if you want to look like you havnt got a big bum you could wear baggy cargo trousers its what i do but not to hide my bum its apparently really small anyway but its also more comfy with baggy trousers
-
If you pay more are they less bulky or just same?
Prob same, these are the ones i used...http://www.bargainboards.co.uk/P/Optimum-ELECTRO-PLUS-Impact-Shorts(2641).aspx if you search around, you can also find lady's ones, i can't remember who asked, but i think they were female... ??? :)
-
I don't need codpiece protection ;) I got these ones thru the post today:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330205427934&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=014
They have velcro on the inside of the waistband which is scratchy and needs to be removed but other than that the tailbone protection is nicely padded and sits in the right place, and they'll definitely go under baggy combats or boarding trews with no worries of "fat arse" comments
-
Thats Great!! Glad they fit well and dont make you look like you have a "fat arse". Going to the meet then?
-
bit late for this, glad you got some.
differently i would have had a look on www.chainreactioncycles.com, they have a load of safety gear different for "people who break easily" was it?
-
Yep, I bust my clavicle skating backwards in an ice hockey match, it was a real gentle fall but my arm curled underneath me and the clavicle took the brunt and popped - OUCH! I guess there's no padding that can stop that happening again if I fell on bocks :(
-
theres always that lovely stormtrooper armour
-
It's not *really* armour you know :P Wish it was, but it's just vacformed ABS :(
-
ABS is quite strong!!
-
you could have lied you know....dreams.....up..........in...smoke!
-
Wait till you're backstage at a big Star Wars event and you witness Vader sitting with his lid off scoffing a donut, Boba Fett having a fag outside, and a Stormtrooper repairing his calf armour with gaffer tape.....my illusions were shatted long ago :D :D :D
-
you part of the 501st battalion then
-
501st Legion yes, www.ukgarrison.co.uk
Hey, stay on topic :P
-
You guys are so cool. Hehe. The boys over the road used to play with light sabers and still do at 16 hehe. Shame they couldnt have been cooler like you.
-
Storm Troopers are cool, just imagine darth vader dropping one, and the smell getting stuck in his costume, lol :haha:
-
Did anyone ever see morons from outa space where Mel sneezes in a space suit
also the quote "as popular as a fart in a space suit"
-
Nope but that quote made me laugh
-
Back on topic again :P My wrist guards arrived today but cos I have extremely skinny wrists and slim hands, they don't really "sandwich" my hand too firmly :( If I wore gloves underneath to pad them out a bit would that work?
-
On topic? wrist gaurds -impacts shorts hehe. I think farts i more relivent :nana:
-
General "padding talk" I meant :P
-
A serious reply
http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=1476.0
Here is a topic about the wrist gaurds and some peoples solutions (i think)
-
should do, it will stop them grazes to the outside of the hand a bit.
my wrist gueards arnet all that secure in all honesty, but when i did fall with them on they skidded away as i put preasure on, so i would slide rather than breaking, but im one of those stair diving hard to brake types
-
DK did something to make his smaller. You should ask him about it
