I can now confirm the following
Saturday 1st March 2-4 PM
Venue : North Kesteven Sports Centre (not North Hykeham Leisure centre)
Moor Lane
North Hykeham, Lincoln, LN6 9AX
01522 883311
Cost for Hall £40 will split equally among those who turn up. I will book and pay you provide the cash on the day.
I have tried to provide activities that will enable all to participate regardless of thier ability or age
We have two coaches attending. The Sports Centre have kindly agreed to pay for thier time. One is a gymnastics coach, the other a Parcour coach.
Activities will be slit into the following areas
Area 1: Gymnasatics Coach will provide advice and direction
Basic Tumbling
Beginners area will be where you learn to flip using a spring board and mats
Advanced tumbling
Develop basic tricks on bocks
Refine your more advanced tricks on bock
Area 2 :Jumping : Parcour Coach to provide advice & direction
Basic jumping
Taking off & landing
Jumping small obstacles
Advanced jumping
Gaining height
Jumping obstacles
Jumping onto platforms
Area 3
Bocking basketball or team games
Safety Requirements
Knee pads, wrist pads, elbow pads & helmet
If you do not have these they can be provided on site
Hoof Safety
The centre is concerned that the floor must not be damaged therefore you need to ensure that your hoofs are covered completely by standard clam shell type tyre socks
Hydration/nutrition
There is food and drink available on site / please ensure that you have enough money or bring food / drink to ensure you have energy and are sufficiently hydrated
Please also bring a water bottleAll other issues ie first aid, health & safety, insurance etc have been covered by me and the Centre
Numbers
The venue can easily support 20/30 bockers. I am aiming for 20
Support
The team at the centre are working hard to support us in developing this event, both financially and also by working with the media to promote the event.
This is agreat opportunity to create an event that will give you some real training benefits and the sport some much needed profile. Please can you let me know that you are attending. Not interested in maybe`s just definite yes`s
Lets bock
-
Sound like fun :)
I'm game :Dark_Knight:
-
i'll be going
-
What are clam type tire socks, I have tie-up tire socks on mine
-
Centres main concern is that no metal from the hoof is capable of coming into contact with the floor and damaging it. Big problem , big cost.
The original tyre sock design where you bend a tyre then secure it with jubilee clips is the clam shell style that will cover the hoof completely.
Not too concerned as long as all the metal edges of the hoof are covered
-
Nice one Charlie, its a shame I am over here or I would have come.

Just a note but there is one other place on a stilts where metal could mark the floor !
It's the nut'n'bolt on the top of the hoof ? :o
-
This sounds fantastic, I hope you get a great turn out
Its rare to get one coach on hand let alone two!
What are clam type tire socks, I have tie-up tire socks on mine
These are the ones based on Bill C's original idea see http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=1050.0 click on kiyabob & GB's pic and you will see what I mean.
-
I have no exposed metal on mine, as it is all covered by either the tire sock, or some good old gaffer tape!!
-
Post a picture up nutta so Charlie can say if he is satisfied
-
I make my boots without metal clips I use cable ties and tape :Dark_Knight:
-
i will try and be there im really looking forward to the gymnasts coach i can front flip but not back would love to learn that :D
but i wanna try fronts on bocks first
-
Ill be there work think im at a ''wedding'' lol
i have brand new hoofs on my bocks they been used for about a half an hour at best and doubt they will get much action before the meet now.
If i need to wear sox SX's will you bring some of you lace ones for me to use while im at the meet
-
Ideally the tyre socks on the picture are best as they cover all metal.
the floor is the plastic type blue covering so I guess they are converned about metal ripping it as the hall would then be out of action until it is repaired which would cost a lot of money.
Getting a lot of interest from local sports workers so really need to get as many there as possible. Also talkiing to BBC radio & TV and extreme sport press

No offence or anything but your in contact with the BBC and Extreme Sports Press for a gym meet with 7 people?
Tad over the top don't you think, i could understand if you had a large number going but 7...
Just my 2 cents :)
-
7 at the moment but number might get bigger
-
The local Community TV and radio are not always interested in major events with lots of people. Sometimes local quirky stories like this are interesting.
ie Young people, new sport, positive encouragement from others (Local Council)
Numbers attending are not the issue increasing the profile of the sport is. Most TV and radio news items are only 1 minute & 30 seconds including interviews. That means footage of only one or two tricks.
Getting the message out on local TV should encourage others to join in and make the training day more likely to be sustainable.
Also works for the political organisations that run the centre. Good press would help get additional support. We have already got approx £100 worth of coaching paid for by the centre.
having said all that the more we can get the better it looks.
-
totally agree with you there, its not all about huge numbers, who ever turns up and as long as they are having fun & showing the right attitude it will be great for the sport. Any positive coverage bocking is given whether that be a lone bocker strutting his stuff or a group of bockers doing all sorts it can only be good for the sport
-
SX
Thanks for the pic looks OK to me

-
Hey guys, anybody going this way from east anglia??? I can get a train to most places to aid a lift, but a train to Lincoln and then back for 2hours will be a little bit too much :'( :'(
-
I may try to meet up with charlie B, lol
-
How far is this place from Lincoln Train station?
-
the bus station is just down the road from the train station and you'd have to catch the number 27 bus to asda and then you only have a 5 minute walk to the leisure centre
-
Cool, I may not get lost, lol
-
unless of course u want to walk the 6 miles to the leisure centre :nana:
-
No way, I am going to walk that, will take me 2 hours, and I will be knacked, I think I will find what time the bus runs, lol
-
http://www.stagecoachbus.com/timetables/Li027.pdf (http://www.stagecoachbus.com/timetables/Li027.pdf)
then u need that web page
oh and its no more than £3 for the bus ticket as well(think its about £2.60 for return but not sure)
-
Thats very useful info,
-
Depending on what time you get there I may be able to pick you or anyone else at the station up ?
-
Depending on what time you get there I may be able to pick you or anyone else at the station up ?
Me too :) I should have room but may have my mum with me :-[
My sister lives in Lincoln so she may get a lift ! ;D
-
cheers I will give time of arriving at station soon, as I am in the middle of making tire socks, lol
-
i'll most likely be bouncing around near the main entrance of leisure centre about half 1
oh sx nutta you might want to find out if the train can get to lincoln as theres a stupid strike going on from midnight next friday for 24hours
-
I will check it out online
-
I mite be able to go, Apparently lincon is good for shopping??? Its quite far tho for a couple of hours.
-
well they do say its good for shopping plenty of clothes shops for women to.
-
That why my mum doesnt mind going lol. My sis is no problem. Jester!!! lol
-
i'll never understand the female obsession with shopping ??? lol :hijacked:
-
even i don't know, lol
-
Charlie B or jester... How long did it take you to get here?
-
about 2 hours i think from where they are
-
i just checked online and there seems to be no problems with the trains for that day, and would be getting to lincoln at 11:30, which gives me lots of time to walk around and get to the gym, lol
-
your lucky sx that its a direct train route to lincoln from leicester
-
nope via notts, lol
-
lol u should be able to get a direct one, mind the websites that show times and change overs vary quiet a bit
-
use nationalrail.co.uk for details
-
only one change over on way back to leicester but on way to lincoln its direct from websites i seen
if its only £11.10 for return ticket to leicester i might go down there every so often to get me out lincoln
-
i should try the east midland trains website then
who would know better than them, lol
-
thetrainline.com says same thing to direct train here and one change over at nottingham on way back to leicester.
or go to leicester train station and ask they'll help more..lol
-
emt says one train for both ways
-

-
I'm going for the bocking mum and sis for shopping..How long does it take charlie B and making a day of it would be great
-
2 hours 45 mins, i think
-
Thats what the net told me I wana know the real time lol
-
that is the real time, takes 2.5 hours for me to travel from essex to leicester which is 130miles
-
ah kk
-
you will be averaging about 50mph, i know that what i get, even tho i spend most of the time doing 70
-
Sunday
Covered 120 miles in 2 hours 30 mins, did not go above 60 mph
Lincoln is 45 mins closer so should do it in approx 2 hours.
Average speed will be around 45/50mph
-
thats pretty good. You have a great day lined up. I so wana go. I think we would be staying there overnite coz my mum hates driving lol
-
I love driving, but being without car is hard
-
Spud
Would be great if you can make it
-
Spud, im going to get the train up, leaving Norwich at just after 8 (I think) and then returning the same day (get back after 8) If you want to tag alone the company would be much apreciated!
-
Thats a great idea. How much is the ticket?
-
ticket should not be that expensive
-
I have no Idea, I will look when I get back to Norwich, on Friday, or If you canget into the station, Use the machine and just type in a saver return to Licoln.
-
i will check online, got price £43.40 if you do not have a railcard, like young persons, etc. thats from norwich to lincoln, inc return, saver return ticket
-
Means it will be about £30 for me then!! lol!
-
Means it will be about £30 for me then!! lol!
£28.65 with the MOD card
-
Hex
Did not think you could make it, really pleased that you can
Thanx
-
Its all good, just as long as my knee is ok, and I dont Injure myself! I have my pass plus on the sunday!
-
pass plus, not that extra driving course?
-
Yep!! will knock about £200 off of my insurance, so Im spending to save!!
-
I got pass plus, costs me £1k on the Verso, but will cost me over £2k for the FTO GPVR
-
Erm,what??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
-
2.0D Toyota Corolla Verso (mpv), 2.0i FTO GPVR (sports car)
-
i will check online, got price £43.40 if you do not have a railcard, like young persons, etc. thats from norwich to lincoln, inc return, saver return ticket
B :censored: er. I dont have young saver yet. Cant afford to go by train :(
-
you'll have to come with your mum n sister to lincoln then, try getting your mum to leave norwich early
-
Spud, could you not get one this week??? Or how about we get the bus to Peterborough and then the train from there?? probably about hlf the price!
-
I just ordered it. If it comes by then I will go. The bus thing is a good idea too.
-
Just looked at the bus times, would have to get the 1st bus, and It would get us there no quicker, just means 2hours 49 on a Bus, nd the return yourney by train If we got the 1559 train and only spend just over an hour there, then we would get back at 1901, but if we stay the full 2hours, we would then have to wait until the 1809 train and we wouldnt get back untill 2156, would be a long day with lots of traveling, Im going to probably go for the trains (even though its a bus to Ely) because I hate bus rides! We shall see.
-
could always get cheap day return from norwich to peterborough and then another cheap day return from peterborough to lincoln and seems to be cheaper to than a train from norwich to lincoln.
just means u have to leave pretty early
-
Random...could you buy the ticket with your MOD card and I pay you or is that not allowed?
-
They would ask to see your rail card, and If you couldnt produce one, would then have to pay full fare charges, OUCH!!
Ok, I have looked into this just now, heres what I have
(North Walsham - Norwich)
(0651 - 0719)
Norwich - Peterborough
0820 - 1110 Bus
Peterborough - Lincoln Central
1150 - 1316 Train (no changes)
Lincoln Central - Peterborough
1640 - 1844 Train (2 changes)
Peterborough - Norwich
1910 - 2200
(Norwich - North Walsham)
(2245 - 2313)
Doing it this way will cost not a lot!!!! But its a long day. You up for it?????
-
Up for it if you are? I need a job :( well a real one. Not making odd films here and juggling shows there :banghead:
-
OK then, Lets do it!!! should be a really good day, we'll probably be sick of the sight of each other by the end of it, bnut nevermind!! I'm sure it will all work out! :Straddle5:
-
Yea. I just remembered I have vouchers for train..not many but something...all that complaining finally paid off lol. Lets go for it :)
-
hen, I will see you at Norwich bus station at just after 8AM!! (we will be on the go for 15hours!! :-\ )
-
Holy s**t... thats ages. Never mind lol. My train gets into norwich at 7.50 so i wil try to be there as soon as I can
-
Mine gets in at about 0713, I can wait about if you want to walk upto the bus station, but we will have to hustle, dont want to miss the bus, else we will have to wait an hour for the next one!
-
Hmm. unless I get ther for 6.50?? then we can wonder down slowly or something. This is gona be such a long day. Seems nuts...3 hour by car..7 by train/bus
-
I did it for norwich don't forget, 5.5 hours there, 6.5 hours back
-
If you are going by car with your mum?? ?? I would go halves on Petrol costs for a lift, But I need to get back that night as I have my Pass Plus on Sunday
-
Sx, thats another reason for going, people showed commitment to the meet in Norwich, So I am going to for meets organised by people that showed up!
-
Wait till I sort one out, lol, it may be in bockin, essex
-
I think thats where the Invicta tour is going to go through!!
-

-
If you are going by car with your mum?? ?? I would go halves on Petrol costs for a lift, But I need to get back that night as I have my Pass Plus on Sunday
She would beu she does want to stay a night there and was planning sat nite leaving sun morning. Could swap the nite to fri maybe if I asked...but not tonite lol. She is a bit tired.
-
I travel home friday after working a night shift, so I will be nakerd and unsociable! I dont mean to be, but after 28 hours awake, my patience gets thin  even If I can only get a lif there, It would be good, to save getting up so early! I would get into the City (and out the other side if needs be) When you find out send me a PM, dont txt me as I wont be back in the country until Wednesday (im leaving tonight, been delayed by 4hours, so its a bit of a bugger, never mind eh!)
-
Ok I will do. Also..we only have a corsa lol. Better not be too grumpy if we give you a lift lol :haha: Off anywhere nice?
-
Taking Tornado guys out to Thumrait in Oman, should be nice and hot, only there for a day though :-\

-

-
What is it a Degree in?? If its engineering you can be an Engineering officer (start as a JENGO Junior Engineering Officer) the go to SENGO (senior Eng....) Any other Degree and you will be looking at anything, It will all depend on your aptitude and appearence, If you dont look or talk right, then you dont stand a chance of getting past the interviews.
-
degree is in Design Management and Innovation
-
Erm, not too sure then, Possibly Personel Services officer, I cant be sure where they would put you, depends on what slots they have available at the time.

-
Hope you get a good turn out for this CharlieB, the list seems to be going down everytime I look which is a shame esp with a pakour & gym coach to hand...
To all the guests if you are reading this and live near or can make it, call CharlieB and make sure you attend as you will learn plenty, I think there's space for about 30 people but less than 10 have confirmed so far...
-
I really really really wish that I could go. He has layed so much useful stuff on for bockers. Its such a shame I cant make it and that Hex cant do so yea...all of you that could possibly go go for it. You sure wont regret it. You will learn so much. Charlie B...
Wish I could go :'(
-
Agree it looks a little dissappointing with regards to turn out but I guess these things happen.
I hope the guests reading this can make it as you can a have a go
It is early days so I will continue developing this event for a little while longer
jester is really wanting to flip
-
Yes keep it going. I wish i could have gone so bad and maybe I can go to the next one..Even better woudl be for all of the EAs to do a meet there...make a day or weekend of it and have lots of fun! I think we should do that actaully! Please keep it going. I so want to goto one of these. There is so much to learn and do there!
-
We should be leaving soon, so hope to be there on time! Had to make tyre socks this morning, took bloody ages! Your howto guides make it look so easy! I never knew bike tyres were made of such solid stuff, i've wrecked two pairs of small pliars, two Stanley knife blades and a jnr hacksaw blade trying to get through the things.
Anyhow, see you all soon :-)
-
Have a nice meet and send me a postcard :'(
-
Sorry I never made it to the gym meet, been a little under the weather and been sleeping for quite a few hours, I finally woke up at 3pm this afternoon still feeling ill
-
Been back a while, thanks to all you guys who attended
The press were there and promised to work to support the development of both bocking and parcour at the site.
Got radio at about 12:30 and had about 10 people attend and tried out bocking
I am sure we can develop this
i will post video shortly so you can get an idea of the venue
-

I wish I could have changed plan but I made a promise , and a promise is a promise !?
Hope you'll plan another !?
If we meet in morning we could try bocking from the railway station all
the way up the hill ( There's a bus that we could ride back down on ;) ).
I've done all of them but you EA's can try an easy one :D
Spud it was my idea
-

Hey guys and Girls, im gutted that I couldnt make this meet, I was really looking forward to it, good job I didnt say I would travel straigh up from work, didnt land until after lunch! And had Prince Harry on the jet!!!
-
very nice, did you meet the prince in person?
-
We had to treat him like a normal passenger, no special treatment, no hand shakes, no pics, no autographs, nothing, plus he had 2 SAS guys sat one either side of him, both with sidearms, so he was left to his own, didnt even get up I dont think.
-
i would love to see prince harry try out a set of bocks, lol
-
WOW THATS SO DAMN COOL!! I think the prince is cute. Did you know he would be on there hex?
-
As soon as I saw that he was out there on Sky News I knew he would be comming home!
-
Wow. Thats so cool. Did you know he was out there before? I'm pleased they let him go. What do you think? the aregument is that he was a target? were they not worried about this flight?
-
hmm all the soldiers out there are a targets though so why dont they bring them all back.
-
the biggest target would be the prince, especially if they got him as a hostage
-
They are all targets but wow the prince wouldnt that be a great trophy for the taliban
-
more than just a trophy, that would cause some serious leaway on us with the demands
-
Thanks for organising it, definitely should do it again. Did we miss the parkour guys having a go on bocks?
-

If you cab get to Grantham easier, people can give you a lift ?

I'm in Boston but your 40 miles in the wrong direction !?
-
12th apr i should be back in leicester by then
-
Yeah if anyone can get to Grantham then i can give them a lift. There should be a good service from Peterborough to Grantham on the trains as well, i think that's part of the mainline to Nodnol?
-
yep looking at about £6.70 for cheap day return to grantham from peterborough compared to the £12.20 for cheap day return to lincoln from peterborough.
