Heyy, im wondering how much more different it is to jump up onto something as opposed to over something. I've been practising round deegee and shyatts house by jumping over boxes and can do a two footed jump over about a foot and a half of box.
When u jump up onto something do u loose a lot of force in your springs? any techniques or advice you want to give? thanks
tom

I dont really understand what you mean ???

He means jumping and landing on a box or obstacle rather than jumping right over it and landing on the other side.
Everyone has their limits with this and you will amaze yourself with what you can do, if you have the confidence.
The hardest thing is the fact you're landing on it. If at all possible I would find something which you can hold on to once you're up there. Bit hard to explain but jumping onto something and then having something to grab for safety is a lot easier than jumping onto something and having nothing. Once you know what height you can reach then you can start doing it without grabbing something.
Plenty of stuff like this in Cardiff Bay :)

If you are using the same box to land as you were to jump over then surely landing on it is easier?

That is the bit I dont understand

Yes you do lose the power in the springs Tom (I understood you )
You take off with a lot of spring power they then straighten and the only power you get back is how far you drop
So if you jump 2 ft in the air and land on a 1ft 6" platform you are effectively landing from 6" as if you had jumped 6" so less compression

I think I get it now :banghead:

But you'll get the lost power back when you jump back off

Think its just having the confidence to jump up and make sure your hooves clear the height and land on the platform (depending on how big it is)

That is the confidence which i lack. :(

If there's someone with you just keep asking if your jump height would clear it, then go for it !

That's what i did when i jumped over the PJ box, i asked tom if i was clearing enough height. Then i just went for it :D

cool cool, im liking the idea of having something to hold when you jump up onto it. and no i'm not special ;D everyone else is. I shall be trying some of this on thursday onwards, unfortunately my mums not at work so my study leave will be spent studying :(:(:( :banghead:
I'm also glad that someone understands my complex questions ;D not quite the simplest way of asking ive noticed :P
