Hey all/.
My M80's arrived today and were a very welcome surprise for me when I got home from work!
They're fantastic! I've just spent the last 2 hours in my back garden on concrete getting used to them. I can walk, run and jump [1-footed] now with confidence! Very pleased with myself!
Couple of issues...
- My Pro-Jumps didn't come with the calf straps, and although it says they're not essential in the manual they're apparently meant to support the legs a little more. Not sure why they didn't come, but I think I'll give PJ's a call.
- Jumping with 2 feet is tricky!! It's easy to lose balance and I think I'll need quite a bit more practice at that...
- The springs are actually perfect. I weigh 65Kg and although the M80's feel a bit stiff at the moment, I can already feel the springs slowly starting to 'break in'/..
-Think I might try going for a jog a little later this evening! Will keep you all posted on progress!
Cheers,
Kirk

yay glasto --another 'dreddid bocker' --we need more. Tip dont look down heads r heavy -tips centre of gravity foreward behond the hooves.
If you can asap post some vids a/ we get a good laff but b/ we can correct any 'niggly bits' b4 they become ingrained.
For bouncing on 2 feet --try grabbing a lamp post for support --then jumping up and down with all your mite on both hooves 1st off

congrats on getting your bocks :) always good to see more bockers. where abouts are you from? anywhere local to my area? :P

-
Yes- a dreaded bocker indeed! Not surprising that we are a minority; oh well!
Thanks for tips-
Despite being from Glasto' and being there now and then, I'm currently in the South-East London area. Will get a video up here when I get a chance/..
Cheers!

Glad you got your PJ's ok & sounds like you're having plenty of fun already!

The Pro-Jumps no longer come with the additional straps, you can buy these usually from ebay or any craft shop, just search for "webbing"

-That to tidy loose hairs plus PLENTY of clockwise rubbing, palm rubbing, finger rubbing along with a decent residue-free shampoo once a week and your locks will get much better! Do away with that wax!! Don't think I'll make it to the 'diff next month unfortunately as it'll be the day after I get back from Germany and it's back to work in London very soon after that. But I really want to make some local events, or rather meets which I'd find hugely beneficial!
Thanks webmaster. I'll check eBay. The straps that are on the back of the knee areas are actually sufficient I think but I'll probably get some extra calf straps just to secure my legs in a little more...
-Went for a jog/walk this evening up the hill to Greenwich! Was amazing and managed to make some great strides that felt 'right' as in I let the springs do the work and just enjoyed the ride!
-Need to work on going faster though as balance is always an issue when going at speed. Also need to try the jumping with 2 feet but it's early days I guess!/.
I want to fall as well!! Not to sound like I'm a pro or anything as that I am definitely NOT, but I haven't fallen yet. I think I need to as at the moment I feel I'm limiting myself by perhaps not attempting to go faster etc than I could. I feel a tumble or two could break that fear [if that makes sense!!]
Cheers

Have a look at the "Dog collar mod" here..
http://www.stiltmodz.com/
I did this, and for the 20 quid it cost me for the dog collars it was well worth it. The stock knee strap just doesn't cut the mustard when it comes to peeps who have small calves. My legs were slopping about in my bocks like a stick in a bucket of s#@t...Much better with the dog collars...Dark Knight will beg to differ 'cos he has legs like young Oak trees....  Shelling out for Jason's Hoofies or toddy's tire sock mod is worthwhile as is the spring armour mod....Those mountain bike tyres really help look after the springs. Glad you're stoked with your new stilts. They just sooo rock don't they?

From the description, I'm imagining that large green area outside greenwich park... The fields on Shooters Hill Road? They fly kites there a lot. Anyway, from memory that would be a pretty good place to bock for those of us that like (or can bear) to bock on grass! LOL!
If you can make it 20mins down the A2, you're always welcome to come to one of our gym meets. Look out for the IBz gym meet postings.
Glad you're liking the sport!
Opal.

Webbing is realoly cheap. I got some and it cost well like 80p. Got it from one of them geek shops that seels needles and material and nitting needles lol. It was 20mm thick and they come in shinyness too. The least shinly the better. I got some half shiny and it comes undone so I gave up on it.
Get quite a lot too. I could have done with more.
But seriosly..Knee strap are a better option. I have tried other peoples bocks with them on and they felt nice and secure. The most secure they have ever felt.
On my last pair of bocks I put a lot of padding around the knee bar which helped some but when i got a new pair I got pit dirt knee pads and that helped so so so much. I dont have extra padding now and I feel a lot more secure.

Nobby: Cheers for that link; I did have a look but none of the dog collars seem to be available to purchase on that site.
-I did have a look on eBay though, and found these [http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-5-m-Med-Duty-surfboard-Canoe-webbing-tie-down-straps_W0QQitemZ140251778556QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item140251778556&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318]
Can anyone recommend?/.
Opal: Yes; it's the Shooter's Hill Road alright! Although I don't spend time on the grass, I go into Greenwich park itself as there's plenty of smooth concrete paths around there, perfect for bocking! Great to get out to the observatory as I've just done as the Sun is setting over London. I'll definitely look into some of those gym meets; will keep in touch/.
Used my PJ's for the second time this evening, and have started learning to bounce with 2 feet together; it's tricky but this YouTube video did help me a lot [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QddfAUbb9lk] so many thanks to the guy/girl who produced it. I think the bit about keeping straight when actually bouncing and then only bending your knees for height once you're up in the air again are really great tips! I'm still working on it, but happy with my progress so far. I managed to get a couple of decent high 2-footed bounces this evening. It takes a while to get the confidence to bounce through the heels on 2 feet as it always feels as though you're going to tip backwards!/...
Anyhow, one other thing which IS concerning me is my legs! I think I need some padding as for the second time the straps have been cutting into my flesh as illustrated by the photo! Ouch!! I just had to wash my leg in the shower as it was really painful. I'm guessing it's because I wear shorts whilst bocking rather than trousers so effectively it's strap on skin rather than anything else. I think some padding will hopefully solve the job. Please let me know what you guys think!/.
Cheers,
Kirk
--Whoops, the image isn't uploading for some reason... Any ideas?
-
Try reducing the size of the photo and then uploading it, thats a common problem people come across.
As for your pain with the straps try wearing neoprene knee supports, i got some from my local poundshop, best bargain i'd seen in ages.

Attached/.

Screw poundshop (no offense athoul), cut the toes off two old socks, and slide em ur legs so they sit where the calfs strap rubs, fold em over for better padding if needed, a quick, simple and free solution, i wear them every time i go bocking in shorts :)
-
Now that is an awesome idea, hadn't even crossed my mind ;D
-
i fear ive mentioned it a couple of times too. A variation that rancher and Kiola used out in Spain was to cut the sleeves off their mallorca tee's and pull them up round their knees

OMG you must have thin legs even if I cut the toes off they can't go any higher than where they'd go normally ???

s'kewl 2b honest dunno where it originally comes from ---i think iread some americian doing it.
but its peeps developing an idea to suit them and their pocket and moving ideas on like tyre sox to hoofies
-
Went out bocking last night and again this afternoon after buying some sport knee supports from Boots; they do the job perfectly! No more straps cutting into my legs/.
Am getting quite good! I can run really fast and can jump continuously [2-footed] about just over a Metre into the air- pleased with myself given I've only had them for 2 weeks/...
My back/spine is hurting a fair bit though, and I think it's because of my technique whilst bouncing 2-footed. I need to work on my posture when hitting the ground and when in the air I think.
--But it's just AMAZING when you hit the ground sweetly with 2 feet and go flying really high; feels incredible!!
Cheers,
Kirk
