There are tonnes of threads about this. Have good look through the mods section.
Most people use a few layers of electrical tape. I use gaffa tape and it is great. I also have furry covers which help loads too. A good load of tape is probably best bet but there are other methods like spring armor made of tires too.
www.stiltmods.com (http://www.stiltmods.com) has a good tutorial about making spring armor
I dont know what thing on the back you are talking about ???

I've never take old layers off I clear the scuff up and add more tape I must have 20 plus layers now !
You'd have to put a :censored: lot of tape on to stop the spring bending !?
Remember the spring bends a lot but the tape cover only a small area and that small part of the spring doesn't flex that much so your not going to stop it much :Dark_Knight:

a security guard with an AK-47 will do the job just fine

you get less recoil from an MP5....

I used the tire mod, and kept the electrical tape on, cos you can never be too careful when it comes to insanity!

i just pay some mafia heavies a small tribute once a month and presto mine have been safe and sound ever since

failing that lots of tape and old bike tyres have done the job nicely so far
