Hey all i have recently bought a pair of :PJL: off my mate and after a few hours the right bock felt more springy then the left.
I checked over them and have found that the cylindrical part under the right foot rest (the part that attatches to the biiiiig threaded skrews that are on an angle) has completely sheared.
Is there anything i can replace this with from a local hardware store or will i have to order a special part? ?

Its that tube there im sure u can all see its completely sheared!!! Any ideas on where i can get a new tube?

can you post a pic so we can see whats broken?
-
Sounds like the bit that has broken on hex's
-
It is a special machined part so you will have to replace it.
Incedentally this seems to be a semi regular occurance. I have seen this happen directly 3 times and not just on pro-jumps. In all cases the cylinder had been cut into by the hole it goes through which had meant the tube shaering an a very neat circular cut

Yep! same bit broke on mine on Saturday, its a bummer as I was hopping and have bent pretty much the whole metal frame work! oops!!
-
I'm facinated by this Guys
I just can't figure out which bit your talking about unless its the small tube that the bolt runs through but that woud take some wearing through (specialy as it runs in an ally frame once the plastic has worn away )
Stick a picture up Hex (please ) so I can get with the game and maybe sugest a fix

Forget all the above I have just twigged its the footplate support tube and yes I broke one a while back but came to the conclusion that I had adjusted the rod on the side that it broke too high and caused it myself
Having said that there was a spate of them breaking on 7's but I had only heard of mine on PJ's and the pair it broke on were on their second set of springs and they were on their last legs and they broke where the circlip holds them in place (thinest and weekest point but no sign of wearing through)
I did machine up a set of thicker ones for the set that broke but all my other 3 pairs are still on PJ ones and going fine so I think it's just the odd one that goes with old age
Shame about the bent frame Hex hope you can salvage most of it

Jason
happened to me with my pro-jumps, I was interested to see that the tube looked like it had been cut where it meets the hole in the bocks.
-
Mine had broken right on the circlip slot and showed signs of bending beforehand (stretch marks on the underside ) think I might have caught it on an edge or a high step at some point
But they shouldn't move in the hole at all so I am mystifyed as to how they could wear unless it is the holes elongating due to the hammering effect and then beating there way through or maybe the circlip comes off and the frames wear into the circlip slot
Was the circlip slot intact on your one Charlie ?

My pro-jumpers rod broke on the groove too !
It snapped has I was putting them on so I hadn't banged them :-\

Doogal if you contact Naz (webmaster) on here she may know of a dealer downunder or try ET (English Tailor) as he has moved to NZ and will probably know of a dealer nearby
