right wen ever i was on my bocks i used either my walking boots or my trainers but wif the boots ym feet moved up and down felt unsecure and wif my trainers i cudnt get it tight enuf wifout it squashing my foot so i could never get the right shoes so my feet were comfy does anyone have an idea whats the best type of shoe? :Cnotworthy:
-
Merrels would probably be a nice compromise between boots and tainers. And they have fantastic grip.
-
I'm still yet to try it with my mine but I think Snowboarding boots would be good. As they are extremely comfy, provide good support, will work well with the bindings (as they are snowboard bindings) and will also make you focus your weight onto you're heel effortlessly. I think I'll bring mine to the next gymfest to try out
-
Obvious... yet brilliant!
You'd have to carry normal trainers as well though if you wanted flip without
your bocks too. Which is the way most gym meets seem to go at the moment.
-
A good Cross-Trainer works well for me.
I'm a size 11 so some trainers heels don't fit in the stilts ?
Soft upper arn't the best idea either has you've found out !
-
Skate shoes FTW.
-
A good pair of timberland or catapillar boots works for me.
-
Karrimor trainers
£22 from Lillywhites in london  cheap and comfy
Jason :Hoofies2: :CGEEK:
-
hmm thers 2 cheaps jason ur shoes or my trainers which were £3.99
lasted me 1 and alf years woop XD lmao
so how much are snowboarding boots?
-
Snowboarding boots? Probably quite a lot, specialised things tend to be ^^
I use Adidas Clima-Cools, they're comfy, keep your feet cool, have good grip, and i like the feeling of the strap clamping my foot into the stilt, it feels nice and secure... Clima-cools having pretty much fabric for an upper, you can really feel the strap.
-
Skate shoes FTW.
Agreed.
Vans, Airwalks, Reefs, Globes all work well.
One thing I don't advise is Converse all stars...
-
I agree with sprog on the converse. And any other kinda shoes that don't have much padding...I remember little lozzi once came to a meet in dolly shoes...*epic fail* couldn't even do straps close to secure...
Chunky trainers/skate shoes :Cwink:
:spudT:
-
i find that the best shoes for bocking has got to be... SANDALS!!!!!!!!
nah wat Chocl8 said sk8 shoes FTW

*FAIL... I'm a keen snowbaorder an I thougth that would be a good idea! Its not! (a) if you have knee bar they dont fit through easily an (b) they're really heavy!
But it's up to you but its an expencive way to find out if you like them if your not a boarder!
-
Me and carl use r go faster shoes :Claugh: yer there pumas with the ferrari logo on them XD
-
yeh greg ours are good for bolting on and there ok if you have evo 2 bindings as they can be adjusted for smaller shoes as for the normall projump bindings...big skate shoes are they way forward

i use karrimor walking "trainer" type things also, they got a bigger heel than most trainers but they have padded tonges like skate shoes.

there you go, the very same
-
What wonderful taste you have Nero
They are exactly the same ones I have they seem to do about 2 dozen different types all of which are good to Bock in
Jason :Hoofies2: :CGEEK:
-
yeah they the best damned bocking shoes ive had yet i tell ya, they also real good to cycle in, super grippy soles
-
thats pretty much like the trainers i use to bock in, and best of all they're not bright white with logos all over them :Claugh:
-
I wouldn't say they were expensive but they are pricey, I mean I have trainers and shoes that cost more. I would say you could get a pair for £50. I probably wouldn't buy a pair for bocking but as I'm a snowboarder I already have a pair. When I get round to trying them out I'll let you know whether it was a bad idea or not. Feet may get extremely sweaty tho methinks
-
I just use my Nike Darts. They're one of the best trainers around for Parkour. And whilst not the best for the bock, they certainly do the job! Meaning I don't have to carry an extra pair of shoes when I go out. They're fantastically grippy, and big enough to feel secure in the bindings. Though I definitely see the advantage of having a shoe with a bulkier, more rigid upper such as Karrimors, Merrels or snowboard boots.
-
i did try my snowboard boots with my pro jump bindings but found the boots were leaning so far forward i couldnt get my leg in the knee bar
-
Pics to small to see but in the one to the left of this I'm in my socks :Claugh:

Huh... I guessed that would happen with ski boots. I never noticed Snowboard boots were sloping. Blades anyone?
-
Did rather slide around on the footplates aidan :Claugh: but I was in a rush

I Tried it in my converse not comfy and my feet slipped out lmao
-
Converse + bocks= epic fail. I did it, too small and not well padded, if you could get them tight they would hurt. Epic fail :D skate shoes/chunky trainers FTW
:spudT:
-
I just wear my usual comfy trainers.
It doesn't help that my toes hand over the edge of the foot plate anyway because of my big feet.
-
Thats not a bad thing and can be helpful when trying to get up unaided. My feet dont hang over the edge :Cmask:
:spudT:
-
You have my sympathy Stewart I have size 13 feet and most of my toes hang over the end
Real pain is when you get to close to a 2 ft concrete step and drag your toes up the side of it bending them down (don't do much for your jump either :Claugh:)
Jason :Hoofies2: :CGEEK:
-
My feet hang over the edge of the plate even though i'm only size 9/10
-
Sorry to bring up an old thread but found it to be more relevent to post here than start a new one, you where talking about converse been a bad idea and yes i totally agree, but ive found the converse trainers to be pretty good, i cant find a picture of them on any website to show you :S.
They have a big thick tounge and are pretty padded but are quite big, even tho i feel secure i want some nicer looking trainers that are smaller and lighter because at the moment it feels like ive got a brick on my foot.
edit; found this pic of me >> http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rOxJ-Rvzrmc/SpmROjzbJhI/AAAAAAAAAv8/6ypTRhT-lCM/s1600-h/Tom+Powerbocking+stilts+sm.jpg

tom, everyone much prefers zombie threads reappearing rathers than 50 asking the same thing i think.
on topic though they look like some pretty fresh classic style hightops, i loved bocking in skate shoes but they tend to fold under bindings so i now prefer something a bit thinner, currently using a shockingly old worn out pair of k swiss, but they sooooooo comfy
-
haha yeah its skate shoes or big padded trainers FTW
-

haha well i was hoping to get that response, i brought up an old thread once before on PP and got verbally attacked for bringing it back up...
I know what you mean about it folding under the bindings tho, i have some other trainers but the tounge isnt big enough and the back of the shoe is too thin and my heel slides up and down.
-

That has to be one of the most annoying things, i get it all the time if i wear my skate shoes. Rubs the skin raw :(
-
yea it irritating and i want to be able to wear thinner trainers but it just rubbes at the back of my ancles and and the front coz of the bindings.
-
Had same problem, and I know it isn't cool but do your shoes up as tight as possible.
-
lol doin ur shoes upo isnt cool :o dammit i fort i was hip XD
hehe yer i tried out my animal skater shoes and tbh thts the best shoe ever
-
Sorry to post off topic but this is the first time I've seen K-rocks avatar
and I have to say it's EPIC!!! HAHA! ^_^ Poor guy!
I guess one of the best solutions is to just wear whatever shoes you find
most comfortable, then fill the gaps with a strip of pipe insulation foam.
-
or snow board bindings and pretty much any shoes
-
haha true that! I love my sexy snowboard binding xD
and yeah neo, my fingers actaully still hurt from that fall
-
Dig you eat any dirt? Best fail ever!
I need better shoes. My feet always hurt lol...but... I do the cuffs up so tight i can bock with only the toe strap done up lol
-
haha yeah I did eat a bit of dirt.. in the original video you can hear me say its ok, cos I'm a vegetarian, but I don't have an appendix xD
-
You have to share the real vid :P With slow-mo :D
-
lol you can see the stack full screen on the crash tape, ill try and find the dvd with the full footage so you can see, its basically drunken and i laying on the grass having a beer and laughing at k-rock.
-
yeah you gits.

Hiking, sand, basketball, even moto (just for a laugh)
No matter what type of shoe, as soon as I start jumping my left foot feals like its broken right in the middle on the inner side.
The first time this started, I thought it might have been broken, so I had it x-rayed, no fractures.
My left foot c*cks out to the left a bit when I stand. When walking on bocks, the right hoof feels as tho its flat on the ground (level) as it should be, but the left always feels as though its bent and only one of the side edges of the hoof are being pressed into the ground (which it isnt)
Its not the hoof or the frame, even if I wore the left on right and right on left it would still be the same.
Have only been able to use my bocks for walking/jogging so far as jumping just cause's massive pain.
Tried supporting my foot with bits of cardboard under the front, then back, then middle of the foot inside the shoe, but it seems to make no difference.
