hi gais! im just thinking, my mums at halstead and my dad lives in sudbury so oes that mean that im in both the EA's and the essex powerbockers?
-
groups are not so much like that
pick one u wanna be in or ask the group if u can join sure theyll both let u join but if u want to be specific pick the one that youll be closest to the most :)
-
You can at present be in as many groups as you want to.
All Bocking clubs are very supportive of each other and welcome bockers to thier events.
However as the sport progresses we are having to look at public Liability Insurance and costs of training venues so it is becoming more possible that you will have to at some point pay some form of annual subscription to be a group member. The EA`s are not there, the Welshies are for example
-
Interesting Charlie B --
So what is the annual subscription to be a welshie member?
-
well PLI dosent cost too much but i guessing welshies have to pay summat on the lines of a tenna probably
best person to ask really is locky seeing as he is welsh :P
-
yer i think there 1 is just to cover the cost of pli and i think u get a t not sure on that tho
-
It's more than a tenner thats for sure. But they do a get a Tshirt.
-

Welshbockers membership currently costs £40 per year. This covers all our members for PLI, and gets you a team shirt and wristband (woop woop).
It also gives you a reduced rate at our gym sessions and access to 2 other things that are launching shortly. I cant tell you what they are because I've not told the welshbockers yet :P
Nobody is forced to become a member. You can still attend our gym sessions without being a member but it costs more and we'd only choose members for any work we take on.
-
or me coz locky loves me and he wants our town XD
locky ill swap u warrington for a welsh bockers t shirt :D or a wrist band :P just so i can feel special (a)

ok to go a bit further on the club membership thing I'll explain how it works.
Our PLI was about £350
Team shirts are about £300 for 20 of us
Wristbands I paid for lol so we'll ignore them
So WB's had £600 we needed to pluck out of the air. £40 membership compared to most sport clubs is very good value for money. When we formed the club we had about 16 members which totalled the money we had to £640 although this didnt all come in at one time but its easier to explain it if we assume it did.
£640 = PLI and T shirts sorted with £40 left over in the club account.
Next month another 3 people joined which added another £120 to the account. What do we do with this money? Various stuff as time goes on but here are the basics and the 2 things which I mentioned yesterday that still some of the WB's dont know about.
- General expenses such as Banner, stationary, sound system for festivals etc.
- minibus trips to places like the gym fest
- Petrol expenses in mine and Jeeves car since we ferry loads of people around
- FREE gym session
- Bocker of the year trophy
and the 2 things to be launched shortly:
- Buy 3 get 1 free gym sessions (ongoing)
- Bocking feet and broken part replacement scheme - every month the club will buy 2 new pairs of feet for the 2 members who need it the most or any other broken part. It wont include springs :)
We also charge £5 per gym session to the members to cover the cost of hiring the gym. Sometimes we have more money raised at each session than is needed to pay for the gym. We decided a long time ago it is far easier for the excess money to go in the club account rather than try to sort out change for everyone and split it equally on the day. This also helps on days when not many attend the gym and we dont raise enough to pay for it so the club helps out there.
As time goes on and we get more members, we grow as a club and get more funds in the bank and as a non-profit organisation everything goes back into the club one way or another.
Ricky in Swansea is developing the swansea branch and he's about where we were a year ago. We're also setting up a club in the next town, Newport.
This is exactly the sort of thing bocking needs to grow and get recognised as a sport and the only people who are going to make it happen are us, the bockers :)
