But ive noticed I have ripped the spring plastic covers do I need to replace these or can I just tape it up!

ripping the stuff happens. yes tape the. ideally, get an old bike inner tube. cuy to length of spring, slice down the side then place it round spring then tape it in place.

If you look on the internet and if you are good at sewing you can buy materials of the internet and make you own for under £10, cheaper than Gafer tape and you could probably make 2 sets with the amount of stuff you can get for £10

cheaper than Gafer tape
actually no, even in maplin it sells for under £5 for a large(ish) roll, and they're pretty overpriced :P

Well over time, it will last longer and i believe it to be better

DC, Gaffa tape would be a good way to repair the rip in the cover. An innertube would work well too. That needs to be sorted whatever really. Any other covers can be used to stop it happening again or just to provide extra protection to the spring but the rip does need sorting first ;)
btw, i get 5m of gaffer tape for £5. Cool colours too :) dont buy the branded stuff ;)

Lol may have to tape first then, get extra protection :D

Or will that make the springs harder to compress?

No DC. You wont notice it, well, you would need a lot to notice it. Think of the force the spring takes when you are even standing on them. They are supporting your whole weight and more if you jump. Think about standing on some unwound gaffer tape. Would be flattened :) a bit of extra tape woudnt do any harm whatsoever ;)
and check out the edit button :D

Edit takes to much effort :p But will use in future.
Im talking about thick hockey tape then quite thick fur spring guards aswell, ( there gunna look well cool when i make them :D)
And i have to compress the velcro and on the spring protector :p
Im guessing it may make a minute difference
