When I first started Bocking in 2008 there was tons of meet ups going around and the forums were a hive of activity,
but with how it has been the last few months it seems to be the opposite.
Now if I take a glance at the forums, there is barely anything new happening,
not to mention that there is a lackluster amount of posts per a day.
At last years CB more than a hundred people went, but this year only about 30-40 came, even less than the first CB.
I am getting extremely annoyed by the fact that there are barely any meets happening,
and if I try to organise one myself most people can't come.
2009's Bocking season at the most has been "mediocre", I can't say more than that.
I mean, I have had some fun when the opportunity arises,
but there just seems to be nothing happening when it comes to meetups.
One other thing is that there has not been a major innovation in stilt design for years,
and the root of this problem is probably the inventor himself.
His restrictive patent stops the bigger companies getting in on this sport,
and the smaller companies barely make any money,
therefore do not have the engineers/brains to actually make a major design change to Bocks.
Bocking could expand if it wasn't for Boeck being so worried about illegal copies rather than actually improving the sport.
Bocks are long overdue for a design overhaul, and it looks like it is not going to happen for a long time.

Well since an almost identical thread was posted on pp about a month ago, I'm not going to repeat myslef, for once!
All I'm gonna say is if you think bocking has become mediocre, COME TO WALES.
-
i agree with locky on this, bocking is doing well up here too.
-
:D you forget this time last year things were just starting to pick up, everyone's too busy from christmas till the start of the summer, then on holiday/too hot to bock properly, now everyone's settling back in at school they need stuff to distract them from homework, so will bock more
oh and it all depends on people bothering to organise stuff, last year i had next to no work, so had time to do things, this year, whole lot different, and next year i might not have any time, depending on what hours i work, so this year it's your turn to do stuff, get organising it :P
oh and the jjs are doing loads recently aswell :D

The EA's are allways having meets we just dont allways post about them, organise your own meets and you have to understand that people wont allways be able to come as most bockers work have other commitments etc like Spud does gliding so spud disapears for most the summer to do that as the weather is better for it there are also alot of people who do this that are also in the cubs/scout leaders etc so they are busy doing camps etc with that in the summer
Answer to your question organise your own meets
-
What you've got to remember now is that almost every group has their own forum. JJs, WBs, EPBs, YBBs all organise their meets on their own forums.
-
Yet, barely anything is happening in London :Cmad:
-
then organise somethink n stop b***hin about the fact nothings goin on sum1 has to arrange somethink for it to happen

I agree with the others stop just complaining and get working on it.
1) Find out who is still bocking in London and when they are generally free!
I do this everytime I go to a meet, for example the Sidmouth meet I went to a couple weeks back, originally it was gonna be 4 of us. I did a bit of searching on here and PP for people in Exeter/Devon and found around 5 people. Sent them all pms or emails asking if they are still bocking and if so did they want to come to the meet in Sidmouth.
I got 2 replies saying that they would try and make it and one saying he was busy. In the end 1 extra person came to the meet who wouldnt have even known about it if I hadn't emailed him.
2) Make a list of all these people's email addresses/phone numbers and when you organise a meet send them all an email or text.
I'm sure there are loads of people in London who haven't really been active on the forum and probably there stilts because there is no meets going on. Hence somebody needs to start the ball rolling and get a meet or two sorted.
Oh yeah and one last thing, Good luck :D

Your down london boy, the sport is thriving down south and there are far more people down your way than there is around here (Leeds). Since ive been on the PJF and PP I've seen loads of new people join and say Im from down south somewhere.
London isnt far from many major groups I dont think, EA's are pretty close...
For me I only really know 2 people quite well around my area that do bocking. I think there are more around here, but finding them is a b***h and they never reply to emails...
At the minute I go down the city centre with some mates that dont have stilts to just bounce around and promote the sport.

Portsmouth last week (with gym and barby)
Hanworth/Surry Springers meet tomorrow (That you organised :Claugh:)
Another Portsmouth meet next week
I have been to either one of our home meets (Staines/Hanworth/Twickenham/Feltham etc) or an away meet (Portsmouth/Gillingham/Maidstone etc) most weekends this year
The Invicta's Gym meets have dried up recently I think due to work taking a front seat for the organisers
You have to make the commitment and travel if you want to get to the meets
As for London I know CB was a bit small but there were a lot of bugs going round (Thats what stopped me going :Ccry:) and it was late getting set up
But we also had WfL which was a Stonking good meet and Halloween is coming up so get your costume ready
