Title: Stilt height?
Post by: Springsteen on October 17, 2009, 08:38:50 PM
I'm just wondering what the height of an adult size powerbock stilt is (from the sole to the top of the frame). Cos it's about the only thing that websites don't seem to tell you. I'd like to know so that I know that an adult size stilt wouldn't go above my kneecap. Thanks!

You can adjust the kneebars height so you shouldn't have to worry about something like that.

How tall are you, if are are above 5ft they will fit ok . Might need a footplate mod but better than juniors. If are are 5.2/5.4 then i wouldnt worry. Everybody is different but its a pretty good rule of thumb.

Well, I'm pretty sure I'm above 5ft (I mean, I'm gonna be 15 in Dec, but it is only just 7:30 :CSLEEP:).

Well, last time I checked (last Friday), I weighed 61kg.

Post by: Biohazard on October 18, 2009, 09:57:53 AM
I have said this to many people before, I am 57kg and I can get plenty of bounce on my M80's(84kg).
Although M70's might be better for starting off for you.

nowt about next week cos not posted yet.  the plan is for it to include a gym session. But Ive not 'phoned to book and chex time. Hence no post. I think they r free from 1300.

So pencil in gym 1-3. 'Rolling' start of 12ish in Gulld Hall Sq ( noone ever turns up on time :Cswoon:) to warm up/chat un stuff.

Then move onto outdoor stuff after.

But peeps can, and do, join up at any old time.

I have some M80's ( loaned to 'blue' at mo).  But for next weekend I should have some M100's operational ( that i can chuck at blue to free up the M80's--blue needs to try a heavier spring) and probably an M60ish thing ( not a pro jump spring ).

OOO and WILL have tools to raise and lower knee bars :o).

Just wear 'chunky trainers and bring 2 small hand towels, if you come along ( or whenever we meetup).

Sounds odd but its to ensure the straps and bindings 'grip'.  With the likes of converse or vans the foot binding cant be tightened enuff. If you have thin legs the  knee bar strap cant be tightened enuff. The towels pad things out to get a grip ( temporary measure-- there are more permanent measures that cost just pennies if needed).

I fear we going off thread a lil.  but heyho  'am i bovvverd?'

Ill be posting a more 'formal' thread on next w/e'ds meet ( here and on JJ) when Ive got the details sorted :Csmile:

Hang on  'if i get to bournemouth'  but  'im staying in bournemouth'

Yes you can have a lift BUT only if you dont get all excited un have an accident in the car like last time........that was the last time , for you or any1 else,  that I 'change' them at a motorway service station!!!

Possibility it will be cramped with bocks on laps tho

OOOO but 'Springsteen'  may I ask wot your given name is, but please please say it isnt 'Ben'.

I can't be called Ben? Ah. We may have hit a snag.

No, I'm joking. I'm called James. Whereabouts in Pompy is the meet? But it's not looking likely that I'll be able to make it. I'm visiting relatives in Sway for lunch, and I'm told that 4ish would be the very earliest for me to be in Pompy. To be honest, even that looks unlikely. Are these meets weekly? I would SO MUCH like to be at a meet!

Good for you! There seems to be groups dotted all over the country, which is great because it means that there's a group for pretty much any bocker (and it shows how many people like bocking!)

MMM well let us know if deffo,   i should be able to put another spare set into operation ( I left 1 pair in portsmouth this weekend)

Hooves is only issue at mo.  Unless u tell me quick u r a real lite weight quick, it will have to be M100 springs, these will prob be a bit still for you. But for a bigginer that is maybe not a bad thing...means you can get all 'uberbouncy'

there may be a gym meet in portsmouth on Sat as well. i cant get on the JJ site at moment to check ( this is, if it happens, a move of the Sunday event).  Im not organising this so not sure.

Last min change unfortunate but if happens, will be for a gud reason

PS  Alex, erm think you wrote it on the JJ forum, but you dont know own 3 pairs of springs, only 2 1/2  cos 1 of the springs is 1 I lent you when you broke 1 at a meet....and I would rather like it back please :Cyes:

Heya SpringSteen,

I am jsut under 5ft and have been using adult ones from when i was 4ft 11 ish
i do have to use plates on my footplates to rasie me up a bit which i need to have altered again, due to my feet comming unstedy when jumping,
but overall i would reccommend adults rather than juniours.

d'oh  un Id got stilts ready 4 u.

No plans , so far , for 1/2 term.

So Id suggest u actually join the JJ forum, then propose a meet yourself!  ill give you a hint tho...my day off is Friday next week.  Most likely to get peeps interested in Portsmouth, cos thats where most skewl aged members r. cant promise it will work, but worth a shot.

There we are, I have put up my first post on JJ. It's in the local meets section. I think it's a good (carefully worded  :Cwink:) introduction to another bocking community. I have to admit, I'm not sure it's the right section to put it in, askimg to borrow some
stilts...

rite   next week is 1/2 term for hants  and I have friday as my day off, Dave ( who I dont think is a member of this forum) isnt working in the afternoon ( nor I recall is ,probably,  his now lapsed bocking brother).

Ive put a post on the JJ forum asking if any peeps want a meet and if so where on Friday.

If we get a few pompy peeps saying 'yay'. Then I could drive past you and pick you up if thats OK. The advantage of Pompy is that there is a spare pair of stilts that are nearer to your weight requirement than the ones I have here in Bmth.

There may also be a Portsmouth meet on Sunday and I may well be going and, again, could probably pick you up.
Title: Re: Stilt height?

Well I definitely won't be able to do Sunday. I could get to Pompy on Friday, I think, depending on my homework situation (yes, I know - but I'm away all weekend so Friday is my last realistic chance to get anything done).

Where and when in the day is the Friday meet?
