I just got an email from a trampoline coach at a gym near me, he said one of his friends has got a part in LOTR west end musical..... on stilts! lol, not sure what part hes playing, but cant imagine watching aragorn on powerisers lmao :D
Im sooo happy he has agreed to let me use his facilities to try flips, where he'll be training for a part in a musical too! hehe
When I successfully complete a flip (without breaking me neck) I'll post some pics and a vid :D
-
nice one and good luck.. its great that youve found somewere to train :P
really keep at flips because when you get them.. they feel really good to do about a city centre

I found this on the bbc site a while ago:

Does anyone know where to get a phone number or an email address.
It would be great to be an orc.

LOTR the musical ......with stilts...i have a very vivid imagination and not even i can imagin that lol ;D
-
my freind told me about this a while ago, he said i should apply! haha be hilarious
-
it takes alot to act on stilts.. what we did in south africa was all coriagraphed.. its much harder than you might first think.. :P
Being a half as*ed angel is hard enough... but a Musical .. in one of those big halls.. That must be pretty tough.
-
haha yeh i can imagine it being stupidly hard and i would probably fall over haha

I am sure I heard on a news report that they are harnessed so that they dont fall into the audience. I dont think their insurance would cover a claim....
-
But that could be funny with an orc in your lap at first row
-
haha
-
lol....orcs with old weponry with powerisers on.....it wont really make sense
-

Don't say that ! I'm going on thursday and I'm on the 4th row !
-
i've seen it too. the audience cheered the orcs during the flips and the jumps off the higher sections of the stage. i was flipping fantastic! lol
BS

The girl in the row infront of me told her mates she nearly wet herself when one of the orcs came down the aisle and stood next to her and look her in the face ( she nearly jumped into our row ) :o
I think we stood get a group of us to go and boo when he starts losing the fight ! ;D

a similar thing happened to the guy next to me. He was looking the other way and one crept up behind him. when he turned round he was a few inches away. that got one hell of a laugh.
we could also jump up onto the stage when he starts losing and help him out! lol. that'd really muck the show up.
BS
p.s. oh and they definatly are not on harnesses. if there was a danger of them falling they wouldn't be allowed on stage. plus they rehearsed for a year so they had plenty of time to get it right.

I've got a nice picture of the stage ring curtain :o
I'll post it brb

4th row ;D

I get to wander around Theatre Royal every day as I work there
The other day I walked in on a couple of orcs in full costume having a cup of tea the were chatting and one asked the other where he came from I can't remember where he said but it was somewhere like Oxford
so I said that I thought all orcs came from Newcastle ;D
to which he replied that I dosen't have the same ring as Mount Doom so they keep quiet about it
Talk about a sureal conversation
Your right DK they are not harnessed and they are a really frendly bunch and have given me loads of tips and sympathey about the wrist

do you know ruth (can't remember second name) whose the resident director for lotr? I've worked with her before.
BS
-
Don't think I've met her but I don't get to talk to a lot of the high and mighty I'm there during the day so apart from rehersals and matinee it's me and the maintenance boys and girls
I have got to know a few of the stilt and bock guys just because I am interested but believe it or not I have worked in the theatres for about 15 years and have never been to see a show (I find the seats unbearable being 6ft 4 and having long legs I just don't fit)
Also I am in the theatre while they reherse so I'm sick of the songs before they open ;D
-
So you could be a stand in :o
Bet you keep your pair in the car just incase ;D
-
:-\
Then again a 6 foot 3 hobit ..... some how I don't think that'll work ;D
-
I must admit that I do intend to take them in and have a bounce round the stage just as soon as I find a safe way to strap them to the motorbike ;D
