Hi all you experienced bockers.
There are now 3 of us new guys in the top right hand corner of Wales and what we need now is some where to bock.
So what are we looking for? What makes a place a good bocking spot? What features does your favourite spot have that makes you travel there to bock and not just jump around on the road outside your house? (Which is all we have done so far, Oh and the library car park!)

Ok I'l expand on that a bit, for me its things like:
Stairs to jump up and down.
Blocks to jump over, onto
Rails of different heights to vault and re-vault
Generally good open space with not too many people.
Personally I'm much more of a jumping over, onto stuff person than a technical trick person so thats what I look for in a good bock spot.

I completly agree with Athoul, Bornemouth is amazing for jumping things :D and its got huge open spaces

Obsticals (stairs, rails etc)
Fence to sit on when your tired
Cafe
Pub
Crispy Creme shop
Mac Donalds
Ambulance or firstaid post
Other Bockers
And most important
An Audiance of lots

Concrete blocks to jump over, Rails to vault, stairs to jump up and down, some nice open smooth tarmac/concrete to just bounce around on, a nice sea view and some dry, even grass for flipping on. So basically.. Cardiff Bay! :Cbiggrin:

OK, like the later half of Jasons list, not sure about the audience yet though! (It only goes wrong when some one is watching!)
1. Plenty of flat hard ground, like the library car park but we wont mention that! check! :Csmile:
2. Grass to fall on! check! :Csmile:
3. Concrete blocks to jump on! errrrrr! can't think of any! :Cno:
4. Steps to jump off, like the library car park, Arrrrr said I wouldn't mention that! :Cwideeyed:
5. Rails ???? :Cerr: What are rails?? not as in Trains! surely?
6. Sea views! :Cnah: could manage a river!
Cardiff bay...180 mile away. :Cmask: Please keep the suggestions coming.

If you are looking for good local places I have a few sugestions
Google earth (search around town centers and local landmarks) you will be supprised how many spots you have never visited (back streets can produce some fab spots)
Go for a walk on your bocks (so many people go to a spot and stay there )Clive and I will pick and area and go there just to search for new spots
Are there any rivers near you (especially ones that run through towns) a lot of the best spots with steps etc are by rivers (6 of our favorite bocking spots are by or on the river thames)
Rails I call any thing you can jump over a rail (like those wooden things in the local park) best if it has tarmac/concrete one side and grass the other to fall on when you get it wrong
Bridges over rivers are a good area too
And finally we all know that Cardiff Bay is the best bocking spot but 5 hrs drive is a bit to much for a daily spot :Claugh:
Pompy is very good and is only an hour away for me

Pfft, the only thing by our rivers are marshes, pubs, mud and fishermen. Boats too :D But I guess if you could find a town/village around one of the rivers there might be somehwere..Here the villages are by the river, in london the river is in the town :D
Over the summer I tried to find good bocking spots near me. Basically: Epic fail. All the roads are on the huh and everywhere else is fields. Apart from that big road called the A47. I guess thats flat. But I might be too if I bock there. The only thing I found to vault was the train gates (we have little men in sheds that open and shut them) Problem was it was high, hard to grip and you could only do it when they were shut (a train was coming) Soon aborted that idea.
Cities are good. Areas are generally concreted and flat. Stairs are popular. And not just one set or one height. Also blocks to jump and fences to vault. I am yet to find a place that has it all in Norfolk.
But, whatever the spot the best place to bock is with other people :)

The river Dee runs through Chester, 7 mile away, The Groves has a band stand with lots of flat hard ground, park benches, railings, large steps down to the river, flights of steps up to the city walls, bridges over the river, from what you said it fits the bill perfectly. :Cyes:
If you want to have a look, put “The Groves, Chester” into Google, the area to the right up to the bridge.
Parking’s not brilliant but you can’t have everything! :Crolleyes:
Now all I need is the rain to stop and a day off work to go check it out. :Claugh:
