Title: Snow Chains

Well, the snowwy season is here in the great valley of Utah, and Ice=big trouble for bockers like me. So one day I see a big truck with snow chains on, and thought, 'hey, maybe I could use that on my stilts.' My idea was to wrap chains around the hoof pretty uniformaly so you can still walk without feeling like you'll go whichever direction. I just want to know if any of you all, had an idea like this or tried it out, ect. I just want to be able to walk and run on snow or mild ice.

I've seen video's of people on stilts in the snow and thought how they got grip. I looked on here and found the answer.

I have never bocked on ice but I have been snow bocking a couple of times. I hope I will get another chance to do it again this year :D Soft snow isn't too bad, nor is slush. I wasn't worried about it. I could even run with care. But yeah, if you have hardcore snow the spikes are probably the best thing. I wish we has serious snow once in a while. Then a decent hill. Then I could buy some skiis :D

I tried these on snow and ice and they worked well on snow and grass
Modded a set to use sharp bolts instead of studs and they were fine on ice

The vids of me trying them are funny didn't realise how much effort I was putting in to get hardly any height  :Claugh: and lots of bruises

Just a thought though now we have bolt on hoofs it would be easy to drill holes and push nails through the rubber making instant ice shoes

Agreed, soft, fresh snow is great to bock in, I've even done a couple of front flips on the stuff. Only landed one, but it was good fun.

I reckon Jason's idea is the way to go, as then you can still use them on tarmac. Nails would be a bit of a problem :D
