I used my duct tape and gorilla tape layers to test its damage protection. I placed the tape layers on top of cardboard and used a screw driver and hammer to damage it. I used a chisel technique and gave the hammer a few good swings for both. pics to come.

How do you add pictures? from a file to here
-
(http://C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\Bockingpics.zip)
-
You need to upload it to somewhere like imageshack or photobucket, and then link from there. They even automatically generate a piece of BB code for you to use, save you trying to work it out:)
You can't link directly from your hard drive, like you've tried to, plus a zip file isn't an image format. This is your current link.

It needs to be something like this. This piece of code won't actually work as that image doesn't exist on the imageshack server, but it'll give you an idea of what your link should look like.

If you want to add a .zip archive to your post, hit "Additional options" when making a post, and then hit the "Choose File" button next to "Attach"
-
Without hosting it elsewhere first:
Hit additional options below the box where you type your post and use the attach option. Can just be an image file. But please resize first or use code after.
BTW, What if the tape fails and you wreck your springs?

Conclusion: if you're springs are made of cardboard and you fell on a screwdriver, you'd be better off with gorilla tape.
don't think that'll ever happen so I'm all set.
I think all you've proved here is that X layers of gorilla tape is thicker than X layers of duct tape
and as we all know, thicker spring protection works better.

just doing tests lol no need to patronize :Ccry:
-
As I said on another post I think your tests would have more value if you did it on x amount in £££ worth of tape instead of layers ;)

Don't listen to the doubters bockintheUSA :Claugh:
They all laughed at Christopher Columbus when he said the world was round
They all laughed when Edison recorded sound
:Claugh: :Claugh:
You keep testing
I'd like to see you test my method see if that stands up to the screwdriver test (very cheap too Spud)

thing is spud im in USA! i dont know anything about the euro :Ctongue: and thatd be a little hard haha! And jason what exactly is your method? :Claugh:
PS: You europeans are lucky! America sucks right now and nobody bocks down here hahaha

The do it in $$ Rolls usually come in a certain length you can work out price per meter quite easily. And btw, most of us are in teh UK and know as much about euros as you. We are still (rightly so) holding on to our quid :D £££

My method bockintheUSA is simple and cheap and takes about an hour once you get used to it
Go to the local bicycle shop and ask for their old inner tubes (most bike shops don't repair punctures just replace the tube)
Mountain bike ones are best as they are bigger
As they throw them away they will normally give them to you for nothing (if not try another shop)
Cut the inner tube either side of the valve so you end up with a long tube then split the tube lengthwise so you have a 2"+ wide strip of rubber about 1.5mts long
You then wrap this round the spring (spiraly) so it overlaps giving 2 layers all the way down
Cover this in any type of tape (I use either vinal or packing) 1 layer overlaped
This makes a virtually indestructable cover as the rubber just moves as you hit it and cushions the blow
Total cost is about 50pence for a roll of packing tape or £4 for the vinal but as a roll does about 20 springs its cheap
I must do a how to with pics next time I cover a set

alright i might just try that! i can do that with some real fiberglass not cardboard haha! But i wont take a screwdriver to my springs anytime soon!! :Cwink:
