Title: How important is breathing during the jump?
Post by: powerbaffo on February 14, 2010, 05:42:25 PM
I think very much, for this reason, I wonder if anyone can give any advice on this subject.
I do not know how to handle well yet breathing during jumps, in fact, I tend to hold my breath but at some point I miss the air and I lose concentration and balance.   :Csmile:

I've never even thought about my breathing during jumps.

I tend to take 3 deep slow breaths if I can't hit a jump right and I tend to take a deep breath as I hit (push down) before take off.

But everyone is different

Well...in martial arts we breathe out at the point of maximum physical exertion.
Amongst other things, this helps tighten the core and helps prevent fatigue.
So when PowerBocking, if you followed this rule, you would breathe out as you
compressed your springs.

...But like the guys above, I've never actually thought about it while bocking.
Breathing is a natural process dude. Holding your breath is what requires thought.
I hope this advice helps though. =) ...The short answer would be:
If you are jumping for much more than a minute, breathing is very important! ^_^

"Breathe out at the point of maximum physical exertion."  :Claugh:

Well Brendan for me that is when I'm frantically windmilling my arms in panic during the jump or when I am getting up from the ground after falling  :Claugh:

But that is just me
