Title: spring armor, how i did it.
Post by: Birt on March 07, 2010, 06:47:30 PM
i read the tyre spring armor tutorial on http://www.stiltmodz.com/ and started. but i'm one of those people who always wants their own way.

so i used only one 20" tyre. cut in half it's the perfect size for both stilts.
i used a paper puncher for the holes (very clean holes). i cut the flaps of tyre with the holes in them in 2 different lengths, bigger at the bottom, smaller about half way up. i cut a V in the tyre at the top of the spring to make it look better. i sealed the knot of the nylon cord by melting it a bit with the heated point of a knife and then burnt the ends a bit so they don't unravel.
i taped the springs with black tape first because i don't like the yellow on them. i will get rid of all yellow parts on my stilts.

because of the camera flash you can see the tyre is reflective because i like to go bocking in the evening when it gets dark.
