Title: Pro Jump springs
Post by: dark-castles2 on August 11, 2010, 11:08:38 PM
Ive been using Pro-Jump springs now for about 10months, and have gone through between 6-10 pro-jump springs in that time :S Does anyone else have this problem with the springs?
It's just getting annoying because every 3-4 months I have to fork out £70 for new ones because the warranty runs out :(
I have thought about getting Powerskip springs, but just wonderig if they will break as easy :(

What the hell are you doing to them?

Are they snapping or just getting too soft?

HEHEHEHE DC Just snapped another a few hours ago, and you should have seen how annoyed he was :L  It was at a big event aswell :P (well.... big for plymouth) XD

I dunno they just seem to brake so easy, I am just fed up of it though... Either I am getting dodgy springs or my style is wrong.
However I think I may have grown out of Pro-Jump springs, I can get 5-6ft when pushing it jumping, can jump 1-2 metres over about 1-3 foot objects. Think Pro-Jump springs can't handle some of it :(

I think this has to be down to technique. What weight are you and what weight springs have you snapped? Is there any sort of pattern? Do they snap in the same place? What is the snap like?

Title: Re: Pro Jump springs
Post by: dark-castles2 on August 12, 2010, 12:23:07 AM
I am on m100 springs (I weight 70KG!!!) I could fully compress them!!! makes no sence. They never snap in the same place, and some splinter, some snap in half... 1 just went so soft I could even walk on it. Just no pattern.
I admit I jump quite heavily on them, but still if they are 30KG above my weight that should not matter I hope

Strange one this. You are the same weight as me and I've not spent a lot of time on the black PJ springs but a pair of 80's or 90's would suit me fine.
Have you got any tidy videos of you jumping hard?

ummm... there is one, not that clear but it shows my jumping (is a few months old though) I am the one with the curly hair :D in the bage disgusting coloured top
At 0.27 you can see the jumping best

Title: Re: Pro Jump springs

Generally speaking I've not had to deal with spring breaks in some time, the last couple of people I know of breaking a set within the 3 months period both have quite an aggressive style and go way above their weight range, you have to also take into consideration, how much you are actually bocking in them 3-4 months, as if you're putting in quite a lot of hours, this could account to someone elses 9 months of bocking.

I know some people just don't suit the PJ springs, due to their style, Kiola instantly springs to mind so if you are going through so many I would say try another brand and see how you do on them.
Title: Re: Pro Jump springs
Post by: dark-castles2 on August 12, 2010, 10:15:52 AM
Hmmm... Kiola kind of explains it, I kinda stole his stilting style :P and he was the one who taught me almost everything :P
And I do stilt 3-4 times a week, for about 9-12 hours a day :S so that also makes sence.
Thanks for the help Naz, Ill look into some 720springs :)

yes it was....... i can't feel my kneecaps...

although night-bocking with LED's and glow sticks plastered to the stilts is epic fun.
think we got more attention than the fireworks :D

Yep  DC   u R v similar to Kiola in style.

As a comparison... Jack of the jj'S. Has had his PJ's over 2 years. A regular user ...tho not as much as DC. Still got same springs AND Hooves ( regularly changes tyre sox). He got them at 14 so has been over weight for them for some time. Which is the only reason he has changed them ( got 2nd hand M100 springs from Ian).

DC 720's r v stressed and again may v well not work 4 u.

Dare I say it  , think 7's?
Title: Re: Pro Jump springs
Post by: webmaster on August 12, 2010, 02:36:36 PM
blimey if you average that out its over 36 hours a week, I'd say "average" or "reasonable" use would be 5-6 hours a week

so an average user would probably take about 5-6 weeks to do the time you are doing on them in 1 week...  :Cwideeyed:

but it's wierd i pretty much stilt and jump as much as DC during the meets and usually one of the last to go home
but my springs arn't as knackered.... different technique perhaps...although i have learnt every thing i know from alex..and just practice i guess.

although recently i've being getting alot more confident with high jumps and tricks.so maybe the snapping is yet to begin hehe :P

Our group does love to still, I think everyone in the group would stilt everyday if we could. When we had that string of hot weather we stilted almost everyday, must of racked up 50 hours a week :D
Kiola told me he went through 8 720 springs, and almost 40 Pro-jump and poweriser springs till he found 7leagues :D

:P Spoke to 7league and I wanted different springs, they say I have to get them from Austria :O

P.S. Q I just spoke to Andrea Boeck, and she says there is no waranty on 720 springs because they only like selling them to 'on request of the professional performer.' (or similar thing) But she said you can get them if you email them :) if you are still after the springs

DC not many people know but I went through a spring breaking session  and couldn't figgure out why at first

I tried 7's the old X type spring and found I could bottom it at will and only get 3 ft so they went back

Clive got a pair of S's the new ones and couldn't bend them so let me have a go

Guess what they bottomed but were about as responsive as a wet lettuce (I hated them) Clive sold them on

In the end I went down a little bit on weight (was 117-120 so droped to 114 ish )and changed my technique a bit and I havn't broken a spring since

I hope the 7's cure it for you but if not try going down 5-10 kg and alter your technique it might just help

Just one other thing take a look here

http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=2166

Yes he is that far above a door top (I estimate he is 8ft up to lowest point) yes he does it all the time
And yes he's on PJ's and they aren't that new so maybe it is technique that breaks them as tundraH taught me a lot

I only weight 10-11 stone, can't really loose much weight :P I have been on 7's before, lower weight ones and found them really really good, but they were to low weight, so it might be the solution.

And if you look through the shadow at the cross line in the picture you can tell he is actuall getting about 6foot :P maybe less, just that his legs are bent so it seems more :D

Im with jason, heavier sevens suck ass, so much so i wouldnt dream of trying softer sevens.
but you seem like your mind is well and truly made up so best of luck on them, and i hope sevens austria are as helpful as pro jump.

Title: Re: Pro Jump springs
Post by: Nero on August 13, 2010, 10:11:53 AM
im not sure what to suggest to ya mate, i break a lot of springs but then i do really stupid things on my stilts, i got to the point with work etc that £70 for a set of new springs became a consumable, things will break and all that.
The only way i can suggest for you to stop breaking them is to use lighter springs as they have more of a tendency to go soft, rather than just snapping.
I hit this wall a year or so into my bocking life, and at times i got really p**sed off with it.

Only other thing i could suggest is hold out for the new stilts to drop, im sure there will be breakages to them springs too, but at least if pro jump are selling them you know you'll get top notch customer service.
Title: Re: Pro Jump springs
Post by: dark-castles2 on August 13, 2010, 10:20:33 AM
Yeah I get what your saying, I think what I am going to do is go for a lower weight in the 7leagues and that way if they break I might just go for 640 skip springs ( I used them all day once and not a problem) instead of 720's

All I can say DC is that his front foot hit the blind at one point and that is 8ft plus above the ground so I stick to his lowest point being very near 8ft

I'll stick a tapemeasure up behind him next time  :Claugh:

Sounds like you had the same experience as me on 7's Nero shame as the lighter ones seem so responsive

It's a shame Clive hasn't still got his as I'm sure he would have let you have a try

There must be someone arond that will let you try a pair

I mean the guys that like them always say they are unbreakable so they should be lining up to lend them to you

The other thought is that if they are lasting you 3 months just ask Naz for a bulk order. I mean 4 sets should last you a year

How many springs have you got left mate  :Claugh:
