Title: First few days
Post by: JCDenton on December 23, 2010, 03:14:51 PM
Iv been on the stilts for a few days now(got some from chrishead, projump frames with trex springs), first getting up on them clinging to a wall for dear life, its the weirdest feeling ever lol. Iv been walking around and even tried a little jog lol. I just cant get the hang of jumping on both stilts, i can leap on one but 2 seems really odd. People seem to react positively to them on the street. Great fun. Im looking forward to a meet lol.

I had the same problem however as soon as a couple of fellow bockers and I met up I picked it up really fast.

You sound exactly like me when I started JCDenton. I was ready to go full force and then stood up in the kitchen and thought holy crap.
It took my about 3 days to jump up a roadside kerb.

The answer is to keep at it. Keep trying the 2 footed jumps, really really tiny ones at first and if you can hold on to something like a wall with one or two hands then that should give you some stability.

Keep going, you'll pick it up in no time.

I know Locky said it but practising while holding to a fence or something should help a lot. It's much easier to put a but of power into the springs and get a feel for it without losing stability that way.

Iv been out and about today, just round the streets. People go mental for these things, i had cars nearly crashing, people running out there houses to watch me walk past. Nothing negative yet lol. Starting to get the hang of jumping i think lol. Its nakering just walking about tho lol.

try running a mile in them lol.

I really miss the newbie feeling and reactions you get from people who are not used to them.

You do get used to it but people also get used to you.

Infact some days their reactions can be quite annoying.

Agreed! The novelty can wear off! There are some types of people I have no problem talking to time and time again because they have a serious interest but you will get the same question/comment over and over and it can get a little tiresome.

yeah it's hard sometimes to not be sarcastic especialy when you have 5 people trying to talk to you while you're actually trying to do a new trick or something.

My most loved response to where do you get those things:

We found them here laying on the floor. Too bad you didn't get here sooner or they could be yours instead :)
