Title: how do you know. . .
Post by: brutus_ on September 12, 2006, 07:57:39 PM
when you are jumping about and you see a wall, how do you know you are able to jump over it? i need to know this as my main fear is jumping over somthing and my feet getting caught and me doing a face plant.

I have jumped the same space alongside a wall and got my friends to tell me if I would have made it if I went over...

Its a good indication..

Be real careful though! Make sure all your pads are on!!

Please keep in mind that jumping requires you to take in 3 factors

1) Height of obstacle
2) Width of obstacle
3) Distance from floor to body

Now take all this as a rough guide, I've not jumped anything myself but I have concidered the idea of course.

If you can jump 3ft, for example, can you maintain 3ft whilst travelling in a direction.
What I'm saying is you need to be able to maintain enough height in order to clear the obstacle and to recover your feet to get a smooth landing.

My main fear for anyone jumping is a foot clipping on the way up causing you to faceplant.

If you're going to do it
1) Have someone with you for support
2) FILM IT PLEASE - as a teaching aid to others - both if you make it or if you fail!

Lern to jump up on stuff as high a the ting you want to jump over so that if you dont get up you don't fall down on the other side.

for me i have just felt natural over time in how tall i become wilst strapped up.

i just know how/were my 'feet' now are (about 1.5 feet lower) ..

over time (like me) i think you should just get used to were your hooves are in reletive terms to were your feet are above your hoove.. hope that made sense.. ;D

work your way up in height, try jumping onto smaller objects to start with untill u gain confidence in doing it then start to build up as u go up higher obsticales/objects you will be jumping higher as the muscles in you legs will be more developed in jumping with extra weight and you will get more height and gradually become more familiar with the height needed to clear rubber feet from real feet and hopefully not eat wots on the other side of the wall etc
