Yea,
Me and my mate (razhaz11) went to preston yesterday to buy them. At first we were like homfg it's impossible but now (after many attemps that failed) were walking, running and attempting to jump.
There really amazing.
Anyone any idea how i can keep them in...well good shape?
(i didnt know where this post was supposed to go)
???
-
Tape your springs with duck tape hockey stick tape ore electrical tape.
About 4 layers would be fine oi think ;)
-
Yer we did that yesterday, thanx tho.
My frinds tapers or something ??? came out of the bottom of his springy thing (very technical me) lol
Is there anyway of stopping that happening?

There is a few things you can do to keep them in good shape!
Here's what I did...
1) Armour for the spring
Although you get a cover on the spring it's not that thick & you will damage it fairly quickly...
I used about 4 layers of electric tape on mine. It was faily quick to do. I don't have a camera at the moment but here's one Woodsy did from the gallery
(http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/gallery/293_12_03_07_2_08_55.JPG)
2) Tyre socks
Although my feet have lasted me about 6 months I think depending on where you wear them they do wear out a lot quicker so replacements can get expensive. Tyre socks provide much better grip as well.
Here's a tutorial on how to make them: http://www.geocities.com/powerisertiresocks/
3) Pads
I should have wrote this first but most importantly I'd say is make sure you pad your selfs up first. Helmet, wrist pads & knee pads are a must!!

The white bits you mean
Have a look at these two tutorials:

There's a mod from projump coming soon too I think

Have a look at Jasons wrist above, his are officially the weakest wrists here :D

No kidding, Nightmare_Elixir, best way to protect your springs, is to buy a bike inner tube, cut it, and slip it over one end to the spring, pref. the foot plate end, use a little bit of washing up liquid, then go down a fabric store, such as hobbycraft and buy some pink fur, and make little sleeves to go around your springs, I did that to mine, but in orange!!
-
tis true, must confess ive bocked with the man. Know a guy did it with green faux fur and another who has used tiger stripe pattern fabric.
Re the inner tube, you can cut a legnth as long as your springs then slit it lengthwise and wrap round the spring and tape in place ( a lil easier to do).
An alternative to faux fur is a feather boa ( quite cheap on e-bay).
If, once you get jumping, you find the back of the fram digs into the back of your thighs, pop along to a local £1 store. See if they have any of the really old naff thick flip flops. Cut the straps off and glue the sole to your foot plate. That should raise you up just enough
-
Wow thanx the fur is a great idea

That looks pretty cool :o
-
Hey GRS are you calling me limp wristed ;D

Thanks GRS You, Freak and Naz say the nicest things to me :P

There cruel
i sympethise for you
i broke both my wrists
But not like that. Bet it hurt loadz
-
Thanks for the sympathy Nightmare_Elixir
Strangely I've had worst headaches I am amazed how little It hurts I must either be very lucky or my body went into overtime producing endorphins
I got back on my PJ's today 3 weeks after breaking it (wearing wristguards) so it can't hurt that much
-
Just when you get some sympathy you decide to tell everybody your super human
;D
-
I would'nt expect a mere mortal to understand me ( now I'm stuck my head won't go through the doorway ) ;D
-
awww lol

Jason what are you like? I think that last fall has gotten to your head!! lol ;D I know mine has!
-
I think it might have been the pony that kicked me in the head when I was 12 that did the damage ( the Docs did an X-ray and said they could'nt find anything ) :-\
But I had a lump the size of an egg in the middle of my forehead (right where they do frontal lobotomys) for ages ;D
-
What they didn't find anything?
???
They do say doctors are always right!!
-
Like the Wife says about me
"I think therefore I'm always in trouble"
-
Jason Your right it doesn`t hurt to break your wrist...
I did it when i tryed to do a 360 on my snowboard ;D
-
Thanks GRS You, Freak and Naz say the nicest things to me :P
hooray people are paying attention too us ;D

lol, what are you like freak? I wonder if I could eat a kabab on my PJ's!! lol ::)
-
I managed to eat some chips...
But then I was leaning against the wall ;D
-
A week before I bust my wrist I went to my local Fish and Chip shop on my PJ's to buy dinner (it's quicker to get back and keep the food warm)
The Chinese guy that runs the place laughingly banned me and said I have an accident (he was joking about the ban I'm a regular)
2 weeks later walking back from the shops arm in a bandage the same guy drove past me and nearly crashed his car due to laughing and wagging his finger at me I think he was saying "I told you so" ;D
-
:D
I bet you get that a lot
-
Yea Naz your right strangely I do get that a lot ;D
I wonder why ? ???
-
Because your a walking f**king disaster zone.
-
:o
-
Accident looking for somewhere to happen would have been politer O2 ;) ;D
-
Same thing, mine makes more of a point.
-
Because your a walking f**king disaster zone.
just like yourself ;)
-
No, I only hurt myself because I try things I know I cannot do. And do stuff like rugby. Nasty.
Anyway I've not hurt myself THAT many times!
(Jason, maybe we could make a club?)
-
Yer Yer good idea O2 you make a club and I'll make a club and we can hit each other over the head repeatedly and see if it hurts ;D
Oh you mean a club as in joining up got it ;)
-
is there a sock or something for the spring. and do the springs break easily. any comments will be great ;D
-
ed, for protexctng springs; get a bike inner tube, cut to length of spring, cut down middle, wrap around then secure with 'hockey' or plumbing tape. As for springs braking, yes they have a finite life.
This is a new sport so not many have hade p-j's for long, so how long they last is difficult to say ( months owned or hours bocked?). I know peeps with the same springs a year on, I also know a few peeps who have springs 2 x's above designated wieght for there size who can pound springs to pieces in 2-3 months. But those guys are pro/semi pro and I tell you ive seen them hammer it , you would quite understand them braking so quickly.
What happens when a spring breaks? You here a 'snap' bit like a twig braking and then the spring gradually looses 'bounce' and u get a spring loaded limp ( actually this happened to a m8 of mine today ---there may be some video shortly). Dont think there will be a sudden colapse with you falling to the ground at speed.
However, as for my friend he was using a pair of replacement 'carbon fibre' springs about his 4th set! There does seem to be a problem with the high/upper weight range - they seem to be strong but brittle.
Oh and it is difficult to get carbon fibre springs in this county ---he aquired them via the erm 'grey market'
