Ok Folks

I have been a bit lax about this meet this year as I wasn't sure that many people would be up for it mid week

We thought about holding it on a weekend but seemed pointless as nobody would be up there in fancy dress except us  :Claugh:

As in previous years the first person there starts the meet so if you want to start at lunch time go for it but remember it will go on till 10-12 ish

I will be joining you after work (about 5 ish ) but usually people start earlier at the south bank (near the london eye)

So that is it use this thread as a discusion space to arrange what time and who will be going (sort of a DIY meet  :Claugh: )

Any other questions ask

Jason  :Hoofies2: :CGEEK:

Well I need to double check school dates but I think that week is half term here which means we'll all be coming and I guess we'll be there early ish until at least 8pm. Hopefully most in some sort of fancy dress.

It also means we can do pick ups anywhere on the M4 so if that helps anyone then you know who to shout at :)
I'm gonna create a facebook event for it as I know some people (like jelly for example) dont check the forums much but would still wanna make this meet :)

Any room for a new guy on this one?

Locky, if you make a FB group, post the link on here :)

Think we probably wouldn't be able to get there until like 8PM so not sure how viable a weekday meet would be now that I've sat down and worked the logistics out!

Would have loved to come to this but don't think I'll be able to make a weekday! Gotta be up at 4:30am for work the next day and not sure I wanna be falling asleep at my desk. Pretty sure I'd lose my job :Claugh:

Yes Adman there is always room for a newbey (Also any sunday meet we have if your near)

A lot of us will be in fancy dress but it isn't compulsory  :Claugh: just looking scruffy will do

The whole idea of this meet is to have fun and it is normaly a sort of rolling meet in that some people turn up early and leave early some turn up late and stay late and a few stay all the way through

It has run till gone 10pm before now Dave so 2 hrs in london is worth a trip unless you are allergic to flash photography  :Claugh: (I can never believe how many people want pictures with the weirdos

Either kitchenware stores, or even ask around the family. It's amazing what crap my nan has I'm sure someone has a floral apron kicking about somewhere.

Try Wilkinsons as well dude.

hmm due to the Low emission zone I gotta problem. Anyone have any ideas where I can park my minibus outside the LEZ and get train/bus into the city?

Clive will be able to.tell you somewhere in Staines you can swap to the train.. But check out the train prices, as your van lez charge may be cheaper! Also how many people Are coming.. You could lower the price more by picking up some banned bockers and filling empty seats... P

Locky,

Hanworth looks to be right on the edge of the zone, so maybe you could park up near or in Clive's School and go in from there?

I'm sure he can advise on transport from there.

I will be driving up, so could meet there and take a few of you in at least, depending on how many you are planning to bring.

And to answer Billy's post, I am quite keen on staying overnight and doing something the next day too.

The hotels are quite cheap on the outskirts of London if you dont mind a short drive / or tube back out again.  Heathrow Travelodge £33, Putney Premier Inn £39 I think.

Locky the LEZ is a pain in the proverbial mate

Are you sure you bus is not exempt as some are

We are right on the edge of the LEZ but I think we are inside it (Clive will know for sure as his school has a bus

Other than that there are loads of spots to park for free in feltham and there is a main line station into waterloo there

Hello again All,

Looks like I shall now be driving up from the West Country and back the same night.....

so.....if anyone wants picking up on the way through to London, for a small contribution to my petrol costs, just let me know.

Not sure yet if coming via M4 or M3.

If you come via M3, depending on time I will take you up on the lift :) There's 3 of us, so if you have room we'll attribute to fuel accordingly.

Let me know.

Hi David, yeah that should be ok, I can go M3 route, I can fit 3 people in, but it might just mean someone might have stilts on their lap. lol

I was planning to be passing Baisingstoke probably early afternoon.  2 - 3 ish maybe.  What sort of time were you looking to leave?

Don't forget the Congestion charge mate

It runs till fairly late in the day After 7 now I think

You can pay it at a lot of newsagents on the day but don't forget as it is a hefty fine

Think the charge is about £8 a day now

So what's the plan for the night anyway? Just need to clarify a few points as ill be arriving 8pm onwards.

Where are we meeting?
What time will we be at certain places?
Is there anything specific we need to know?

If anyone is going to be staying late and is happy to do so, please can you PM me your number so we can arrange where to meet on the night?

Looking forward to this!

Post by: spawnyb on October 08, 2012, 11:18:56 AM
In previous years the route has kinda been London Eye to start with, then onto Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden, with a few short stops inbetween if we find anywhere interesting or get stopped for photos.

Not that we have to do the same again but I would have thought the following to be a rough guide.  Difficult to say I know as its easy to get stuck at a particularly good spot, or get bored and move on quickly:

London Eye 4.00-6.00 ish, for most people to meet.  A few of us will be there earlier and can meet elsewhere or wander up and down the embankment for a bit.

Then onto Trafalgar, maybe somewhere 7.00 - 8.00 ish

Then Covent Garden up until 10.00 or so, when people will start to leave or for the later ones move on somewhere else.

I am by no means attempting to organise a fixed schedule, so please shout if you have any other ideas.

David, sounds like you will probably be getting there when we are moving around so I suspect we will need to text where on the night.

Title: Re: London Halloween 2012
Post by: spawnyb on October 29, 2012, 07:07:37 PM
Right then, this is by no means meant to be a fixed plan or route, but just a guide to where we might be, for those arriving late or who haven't been before.

I have attached a map of possible route / stops as per previous years, which may or may not help you find us during the day. I suspect if you follow these timings when looking for us, we won't be far away.

Leaving London Eye 6.00-6.30 ish
Trafalgar Square ~ 7
Leicester Square ~ 8
Covent Garden ~ 9

Of course everyone might decide this is just poop, and we end up doing something totally different. I have kinda assumed quite a few will be in and around the London eye until 6.00-6.30 ish before we go walk about. Plenty to do there and along the embankment for a couple of hours before heading into the busier parts of that London.
