Go and use them 1st. A few hours with no protection will not harm. Have some fun 1st. Then tyre sox. Then get an inner tube ( old punctured 1 will do). Cut two lengths, both as long as the springs. Then cut them lengthwise. Wrap around springs and secure in place with tape. Hockey or plumbing tape, wrapped around the tube, so that it is totally covered. Will lessen damage to springs on a fall.

Ok 'taping springs' The springs are made of glass fibre. You do not want to get these seriously ( deeply) scratch or small chunks nicked out of them , which might happen on a tumble. It might affect their integrety and life span. The plastic covering they come with is quite thin   about 1mm. The inner tube/tape combo gives added protection

yea.. because what we discovered is that if you just use them straight out the box with no mods .. your own crappiness on them can damage the springs.. just by putting them on... knocking the springs etc.. so be cafreful.. and mod them asap :P

Yea tape the springs, you could fall and scratch or chip them if you dont.
