There are as many ways to wrap springs as there are Pro-jumpers it's down to personal preferance

I personally like to wrap mine in rubber (old innertube ) and then cover them in gaffer tape (start at the top of bottom it does'nt matter )

Others like electrical tape/hockey tape and apply anywhere from 1 to 5 layers

You wont affect the working of the spring however tight you tape them

To see more methouds use the search and type something like "wrapping springs"

i did my springs by taking the hoove part off and doing length way strips of duct tape as a baselayer and will be doing electrical insulation tape over the top of it in a spiral way up and down a few times. if you go on youtube.com theres a few videos of some people showing different ways to protect springs if you search for powerisers on there i think one of the vids is called armouring your powerisers

A newbie here ( aged 45 ) and just got my new M90s today. Covered the spring in an old bicycle inner tube and then covered this with Duck tape. Should protect the spring and not make me look like a newbie ( until I fall over !)

Nuttas fur covers work well because when you hit the other spring or floor they just twist or slide.
