Title: ouch
Post by: steve76 on July 30, 2007, 10:51:40 PM
ok, so ive got my pro jumps, you guys are so deceiving!.. on the video's everyone makes it looks sooo easy.. i step out side for my first step.. get confident way too fast.. with no protection.. step onto the road..then like start joggin. as im going across the road im standing on the front of the feet as i move, forcing me into a run.. i go flying and whack my knees on the path and c*ck them right up, also my wrists are messed :P and was an inch away from bashing my head big style.... i know you guys always go on about walking before you run etc etc..could we please have warning signs on videos haha.. however im now into a gallop.. and can jog pretty darn good.. apart from the second fall whacking my elbow.. also , the technique for jumping..  do you have to wait till the springs are bouncier or..? ???

pro jumping pain is the best kinda pain, feels like you've acheieved something.

also... do you think if i cut the front of the feet into a curve that'l solve the forward motion problem? if you guys know what i mean?

thanks muchly, steve!. :)

haha well it was my very first attempt.. the way i see it, i fell over elegantly, like a butterfly :) :P..so your suggesting i bounce more on seperate feet before both ?.. ive attempted both.. i tend to spaz out when i get and height haha
and also wait till u see my spring tape design.. its coming along rather well, no clues as to what it will be though sorry :P
and apologies for not having the video of me almost killing myself:P

Just gotta take it easy Steve :)
Know what you mean about the springs / jumping. Mine are at the stage where if I hop (so all weight on one spring) they're nice and bouncy :P, but try going to two feet (kangaroo style) and it all goes titties up as they're so hard and not very springy :'(
Guess we've just keep practicing and loosen them up
PS, Get the vid out next time you feel a decent fall coming on ;D

i could show you but it doesnt look half as bad now, its all just wimpy scabs etc now, yesterday it was a mass of pouring blood.. ive buggered a bone in my wrist too haha.
oh also, ive figured out a genius way too carry pro jumps.. somebodys probabaly figured this out before.. maybe even in this forum...well anywho... what u do is put the knee spongy type section resting on your shoulder, leaving the spring to dangle at a 45 degree angle across your back and down towards your hip type thing..it feels rather comfortable..infact it feels as if it belongs there :), then all you need to do is carry the other with your hand, holding it with the opposite side hand to the shoulder the other one is on seems to work best..ive tried resting both on both shoulders, it doesnt seem to work..anyone else got any fancy carrying ways? :)

steve

I had the same prob with them being stiff and although they to loosen up it seems to be more down to tecnique
I have found that you need to get a bit of height of one foot and then come down really hard on both that seems to work for me and I get a bit of height before I panic and stop  ;D

As for carrying them I have made a strap arangement that I call a bocksack

It joins the two together and then you fit a set of straps to them and wear them like a rucksack it also has a light weight nylon sack that attaches to the bocks to carry pads/helmet etc in
