Best thing is to try it in small stages, increasing the gap between your legs each time. Have you tried doing a straddle/split jump on a trampoline before. They're good places to learn.

I find it good to practise these skills on the trampoline first with ankle weights attached. Good luck!!!

it takes alot of stretc to do soething like that.. you would have to do stretches every day for at least 2 weeks to get your legs that far apart  :P

Even so I was to understand that you can only improve your legs by about 12% via training. If you kept flexible as a kid by dance or gymnastics or Karate or other leggy sport then thats a gift. I'd LOVE to be more flexible.

Try doing them without your bocks on first, then move to putting ankle weights on. this should make it easier to do on your stlits

A split jump looks much better if you split jump and then lift your feet in front as you do in a pik but still spread your legs as far aparet as possible.
My split looks bad if I don'd do this.

Weird, I always thought a split kick was when you put one leg forward and one leg backward (see kiola's avatar). I guess thats from the skating world.

The pics here seem to be some sort of pike/splits combination which seems to be from the trampoline world.

this is a toe Touch! .. not a split kick

(http://www.riserraptors.com/images/zoom/Kiola 11th Nov 06/Toe_Tounch%2C_Splits.jpg)

that is how i look at it.. if those are not called that then what are each move called??

anyway .. there completely different.. and the names fit i think..
