Put the white on top of the yellow, this will give your springs more protection.

dont u mean duct tape??

duck tape is a specific brand name of duct tape, made because of that common mistake - GOD I LOVE USELESS TRIVIA!

Duct tape leaves yucky resisude I've found, so put it on over the yellow tape.
If you ever take it off the residue won't be on the spring, you can simply rip off the yellow tape and have a clean, residue-free surface to tape onto again

If your cut all the tape and rubber sleeve off you could use clean film to cover your spring before you re-tape to stop glue getting on the spring and make it easy to change next time !  :o ;D

DUCT tape is fine i took on layer of black tape off when i re did it with white left a few residue'y bits on but helped to stick my white duct tape on, i have now re done them with whtie isolation tape, duct tape is great as a base layer but i recomend puttin isolation tape on over the top

Just wrap them in cling film before you put the gaffer tape on then you get no residue and the gaffer tape is very strong especialy if you get the thick cloth stuff
