Title: HINGE STILTS?
Post by: sirdragon on August 26, 2007, 03:29:04 PM
I am considering buying some stilts, and i remeber when they first came out in UK there were a pair that had an extra hinge on the footplate that allowed for a flatter running gait. are these atill in production and are they a good choice if i want to use them for distance running as well as jumps etc.

cheers Sirdragon

They are not very good for jumping as far as I am aware. Distance running? How far exactly are you thinking of running on them? They aren't an effective mode of transport, they are purely a plaything...a toy

but if they are not good for jumping may have to stick to powerisers or would anyone recomend another brand?

Whatever brand you buy, they are not an effective mode of transport. It is completely different from inline skating. Whilst you may comfortably cover 20 miles on inlines, you wouldn't on any bocks.

Weekends I'm doing over 10 miles !

Was gunna say DK, I have heard only 25% of marathon applicants get through... Good luck to you though. I would love to do it on my Bocks one day.

I dont think we could do it on our Bocks could we?

Also how much is the entry costs? I'm pretty sure its not cheap. Oh and I used to be a long distance runner (came 2nd in Kent while at school!) so I think I could do it with enough training, its in my blood :D

People have do it in fancy dress including diving suits and I've seen a stilt walker one year ( big wooden one ) don't think he finished on them ?
I need to raise £1500 to get a place with St Johns team
Why St John ? Well they where there when I needed them and think of the times you've been doing sports and seen them there incase you've need help !?
If I get a place I'll start a topic ? IF ??
