Title: why tape the springs?

hi im new and i was wondering why do you guys tape your springs? and what is the best way 2 do it?

to prevent nicks and scr***es on the spring basically im sure someone will give you the exact definition in a massivly long winded post as well but

Any saught of tape i used red electrical tape for mine
stuck like a treat

Hey Alex

Welcome to the forum :)

Although the stilts come with some protection, to be honest its not enough to keep nicks away from your spring so the main reason is to protect it when you fall.

The other reason is to customise and personalise it. If you look in the gallery you will see lots of different styles of how people have taped theirs.

There is no set method of doing it and most people like using hockey or electric tape. Some people have also put a bike inner tube first then taped over it. You can even pop on a seat belt cover over it once you have taped it too :)

we tape the springs  cos they r black..... and lets face it  amy winehouse is sooooooooooo last weeks therapy

No, at at all, I used a bike  innertube and put fur on mine, you can see images of mine, in the meets section of the gallery!!

I used pipe insulator and yellow electric tape on mine, came to £3.40. Not Bad.
