Some of you may have read my Hoofies post and remember the mention of studdies well this is the result of using them
1st I will apologise for the video quality (Mobile phone)
2nd remember this is a fat old man (me) at 7-15 am (yes in the morning) I've just got over man flu (a bad case)
3rd this field has been used by horses in the last couple of weeks (cut up and you don't want to fall over ;D)
and 4th it had just stopped raining mins before (more like a deluge)
So I think most of you will agree I shouldn't be standing let alone running and jumping on grass and if you listen you might hear my bocks click together just before I fall

Heres another equally bad ;D The wet soft ground really kills your bounce it felt like I was jumping about 3 ft up

-
wow awesome gripping on that =) looks like another awesome invention :P
-
Thanks Paul
They feel just like on concrete but softer springs, weird feeling expecting to slide and it doesn't happen ;D
-
Thats actually really impressive. Did the studdies slip at all or do they stay on tight?
-
To be able to get back up from a fall on muddy grass, on the first vid, is very impressive.
-
Thanks Naz and tundraH
They seem to stay put but I wasn't up to much height (felt drained ;D) hopefully I'll feel fitter next week and give them a better try
The only thing I think the might do is move slightly sideways (like tyre socks do) if you are running in circles a lot but even then it wil only be 1/4" or so so it shouldn't be a problem
As for getting up thats about the 3rd time since I broke my wrist but I think pride had a bit to do with it I couldn't let you lot see me crawl 20 ft to turn thr camera off could I ;) ;D

Just a couple of vids I got today on the Studdies
On the first one I got carried away and ran into the long grass my right hoof got tied up in the grass (it almost came up to the footplate) as I wrenched it out to stop from falling I pulled the big muscle in my bum ;D (Glutimus maximus I believe)
I am now sittin on one cheek typing this ;D maybe I shoud post this in injurys ;D

hahaa that was a bit like a short edition of lord of the rings: the two towers :P
ba ba baa ba bababa babababa baba!
steve

Your singing my song there Steve ;D but I'd say it's more like "You know You've been Tangoed"
There is another on the way but youtube is slow tonight
-
This one was after and my backside was killing me ;D
By the way the grass was very wet my feet were soaked after 5mins walking in it but the tracks wer'nt to bad just a little muddy but with my skill level (as you can see) I shouldn't be even standing let alone running ;D

Nice to know you trust them !
No knee or elbow pads !?
-
But wrist guards are on... wonder why? ::)
-
DK the ground was so soft it would be like falling on a feather bed ;D
Trouble is it takes the energy out of your bounces and you have to work harder but ideal for learning
Naz she who must be obeyed say "No wristies No bocking" and I know when not to argue ;D
-
I think I need to have a word with her and tell her to add all the other safety bits on to that list too :D
-
Naz
The way I'm having to sit tonight if you can suggest a bit of safety gear that would stop me pulling this muscle again I'll wear it for sure ;D
-
lmao, tangoed.. do u mean as in the fizzy drink adverts?? bc they were ace! :D
steve.
-
Yep thats it but I am trying to lose weight it's either that or paint myself orange ;D
-
lol
have a look on this site http://www.actionstation.com/catalog/products.php?cat=17 a whole list of products that may suit you - I'm sure you can get them in Uk shops too.
The way your carrying on though, I think you need full body protection perhaps something like what robocop wears ;D
-
Lol I'm starting to think that you think I'm accident prone Naz ;D
Next it'll be a site selling body airbags ;D or maybe just bodybags if I go to mad ;D
I must say I do like the look of some of those protectors though can't wait to tell the wife that you think I should wear something called Adventure Pants ;D she's gonna love that
-
Your studdies are really cool do you know when you are likely to start selling them and how much they would cost approx?
Thanks
-
The Studdies are getting there I am waiting for a new shipment of rubber so I don't know how long
As for price the studs cost me £5 to buy and fit so the price will be £22 inc p&p (Hoofies will be £17 inc p&p and £10 inc p&p for replacement rubbers after the tester stage)
This may seem dear but they cost me a lot to make and don't wear as fast as the hoofies ( as they are used on grass ) also I will be doing a tester price for a few pairs to start with so I will keep you in mind and give you first refusal on a tester set

Being all into heavy metal, I have some leather armbands with small conical studs riveted into them, and I wrapped them around my hooves, strapped them down, and tied them with strong military boot laces! They actually work on grass/mud general offroad, but are useless on pavements and roads! I've made some interesting scratch marks on the local bandstand just before I fell on my face! I think studdies would be great for outdoors shows (see Merlyns nail studs), but only for proper off roading!
-
Sounds like that was fun araya Rocker Hoofs ;D
The idea behind the Studdies was that they would be a quick change so I could go to the park (Via tarmac roads) on Hoofies and then change into Studdies (takes about 5 mins including taking off and putting on the bocks) and then go mad on grass mud and gravel then change back to got home
I would love to see a pic of those scratch marks must have been like a dog on lino all scrabbling claws ;D

Yeah, I agree they are great for off roading, they didn't take that long to put on (about 5 mins), and were pretty secure once on! They're the 7 row conical spiked bands available from all good rock shops for about £8 each. The boot laces were a spare set that came with some combat boots.
As for pics, I haven't got a camera at the moment, should invest in one methinks! The scratch marks might still be on the bandstand though, will check sometime!
