Title: Hoofies for sale
Post by: Jason on October 02, 2007, 08:19:53 PM
I have finaly got my act together and have made a few sets of "Prototype" Hoofies (4 sets)

As they have only been tested by me I would like to get these four sets to people who will test them and give me feedback as to any problems for the next couple of weeks

When the finnished Hoofies go on sale they will be somewhere around £15 to £17 + p&p but as I am using the first 4 as testers I am selling them for £10 + £2 p&p a set so the first four people to reply here will get a PM from me and the chance to buy a set at the reduced price

You can see a tutorial on assembling and fitting them here
http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=1121.0

Some of you will have read the posts by Paul-Self , tundraH and myself as to the grip this rubber gives and my posts on how the Hoofies have performed so far if not look here
http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=1002.0
and here
http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=1025.0
Just to give everyone an idea of what these are

Now the bad bit you will be buying a Kit containing sheet of rubber and some straps to do with as you want.
I don't guarantee them to do anything so if you hurt yourself don't blame me they are experimental and you are testing them
When the final hoofies are sold the guaantee will be the same ( ie no guarantee )
I am making these for you lot not for profit as the amount I stand to make on the full priced ones won't even pay what I make an hour at work but I enjoy making them and hope to enjoy seeing you all using them

Post by: Jason on October 10, 2007, 10:16:02 PM
Good question
To be serious for once it is a bit like any form of thinking/exercise the more you do it the easier it becomes

I started building things when I was about 8yrs old (my first crossbow that was popular with my parents) and just kept going

I've had some good ones and a lot more total disasters (the exploding roller shutter door at work springs to mind) I've set fire to myself more times than I can remember and sawn sliced and chopped lots of bits off (casualty greet me by name now)  ;D

The one important thing to get if your going to invent things is an understanding, quick thinking, good tempered and undemanding WIFE "believe me" she can drive you to the hospital after you've blead all over her new carpet (without complaining) ;D

So after 40 years of practice and near death experiences I'm starting to get quite good at it
Next a book about how I have survived  ;D

I'm mortified that you think I can't go 24 hrs without breaking somethinggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg Dam now I've broken the keyboard
OOPs maybe I shouldn't have twisted that like that it's snapped off

You should be thinking more like 10 mins before I break something  ;D

If you are making special skips ones, I'll purchase a set of you.

I just had a horrible thought, you could call them "Skippies".....  Droan. lol
Title: Re: Hoofies for sale
Post by: Jason on October 16, 2007, 08:48:50 PM
Working on then at the moment tundrah it's just a case of getting the sizes right but I think the front will be to short to put Skippies on (or even hoofies for that matter)  ;D
Title: Re: Hoofies for sale
Post by: tundraH on October 16, 2007, 09:37:04 PM
I was joking about the whole "Skippies" thing.  How about plain old "Skips", straight to the point, don't you think?

Well, I get paid on Friday so if you can PM me your paypal account and how much you want for a set, I'll send the money to you then.  I can wait a while for you to get them just right as I have plenty of rubber on the ones you gave me and I still have the other side to wear too.

Hang on to your money for a little bit tundraH (unless your paying for my body  ;D)

I don't know how long it will be before I get the new lot of rubber in the guy can be a little slow delivering sometimes and if yoour broke by the time they come in you can always pay me in kind  ;D

Just got mine today, fantastic :)
I just love the way everything has it's own little bag ;)
It requires some DIY'ing but once they're done there super
And the rubber give so much more grip than the original pro-jump rubber,
good stuff!

I'm tempted to get some actually, there's so much grass out here that the studdies would work well aswell. Hows the making of the hoofies going?? any chance of getting a pair up to Norwich before the meet on the 23rd of Feb ( even via someone you know who might be coming) ??
Title: Re: Hoofies for sale
Post by: Spud on January 27, 2008, 06:36:03 PM
Its strange... I get more grip on grass than what I do on concrete. Maybe just the tred pattern on my tire socks.
Title: Re: Hoofies for sale
Post by: chocl8 on January 27, 2008, 06:42:46 PM
Make sense if you think about it, the grounds more uneven on grass, so there's usually more surface area contact, and hence more grip...i think  :D. Anyway, its the same with mine :)
Title: Re: Hoofies for sale
Post by: Spud on January 27, 2008, 06:44:30 PM
I like the grass but it steals some springyness but I still jump higher on grass than concrete...I think that is confidence tho

I find that I do better on grass, than on concrete!! But I was the one who went onto a muddy field with no studs on!!
Title: Re: Hoofies for sale
Post by: chocl8 on January 27, 2008, 06:49:18 PM
I reckon grass takes off about a foot, maybe more off my max. height :( good for confidence though, i started on grass and then when i took it onto concrete, everything was so much easier  ;D

Thats what I'm doing..learning on grass and moving to concrete... I tried also with starting on concrete and running to the grass. worked well

Title: Re: Hoofies for sale
Post by: Jason on December 17, 2008, 08:40:18 PM
I've stopped making the mk1's as the company that supplied the rubber went bust and although I found another company the new rubber looks the same and grips the same but dosen't wear as well so I can't justify the cost compared to the length of wear

The Mk2's are much cheaper so I will still make them but be aware that they don't last as long as they used to (I get about 4 weeks of bocking aprox 16-20 hrs from a set now and the replacement rubbers are £6 inc postage

So if you wear out a set of normal hoofs in les than 40 hrs they are good value but the new PJ hoofs seem to wear well

Next time we are at a meet have a go on mine and see if you like them
