The Scouts are doing a mass take over this year on bocks, for which we have gained special permission. There are only a few venues at which we are allowed to do this, and a number limit at each.
If you are a Scout and are interested please let me know
(there is a possiblity this will be open to non-scouts if there are not enough scouts to attend)
:)
-
ex-guide count?
-
For now this is only open to Scouts. Sorry :)
-
I'd like to come, could someone possible get me a list of the venues where scouts on bocks can take part? I was thinking of doing the mile thats on manningham lane, but if there's only one place i can use them, I'll probably go. I'd have to ask ma mum first.
-
Can you let me know if others can come and where they can go. If scouts can go I cant see why non scouts cant
-
Oh yeah, just thought, if we are aloud as scouts or explorers.. in my case. Would we hav to wear our shirts?
-
If the Norwich people say no, then I will deffinately be there, I will be wearing my EA Bockers top, even if its under my shirt! lol!
-
Sorry Spud, as the Scout Association have gained the permission for Scouts to take part, only Scouts will be able to bock at these places.
I will find out about uniform/neckers tomorrow, and answers to all the other questions anyone has asked!
-
If I wear a necker can I? If I ask and am turned down at least I have tried.
-
I will ask tomorrow at the meeting, but I think it will be a no.
I think the Scouts will be covered by Scouting insurance which they pay for each year in their membership fees, hence needing to be a Scout to take part! :)
but I will ask
-
Thanks. Rules suck. I may just turn up at the norwich one hehe
-
Sorry Spud it was a no :( hope you get to do it somewhere!
-
Thank you for trying
-
If any other Scouts are interested in taking part in this i need to know asap to work out how many forms and things i need to get sorted :)
-
A few of you have contacted me saying that you are Scouts and are interested - im planning to send off the registration form this weekend, so if you are still interested (or any other scouts are interested) please let me know asap!
(oh and by scouts i mean scouts, explorers, network, leaders, fellowship etc)

This article is in Scouting Magazine June/July 2008

In the orange and yellow scarves is Stiff and Stilted, and in the pink and green scarves are EPB - plus any other scout who joined us that day. Mike Bushall, the TV presenter, is on the left side.
The article is written by someone from Scout HQ, who is now a member of EPB!

I'm up for that, need a Flintshire district scouter there. Hopefully by then I will no be the only one up here! Give us some details pls or are they on scoutbase?

No, it's all about geeky things. Doesn't seem like much but there are much politics involved. I think its mainly insurance and stuff. Not to say you can't do it tho. But hell, don't mix the scouts and air cadets up. We had a load of scouts, baden-powell scouts and air cades help on our airshow. But apparently if you put scouts and baden powell scouts together they beat each other up..and they were all pretty envious of the air cadets coz they could ride in the helicopter when they couldn't because of insurance..

Please say there doing something this year
i really wanna get involved if it happens again

just to note... this comment makes no sense lol wat are baden powell scouts??? lol scouts was founded by baden powell so they are all the same... air cadets tho... i agree... scouts dont like them xD lol

Ive not been asked to organise anything this year, so im thinking we got our promotion out of Scouting 2 years ago! :)
And its all about insurance! Oh and the promo we got for Scouting :)
-
i think they should do something tho, all publicity is good and bocking fits the outdoors / adventurous lifestyle that scouts are promoting at the moment

It makes perfect sense ;) Once you know that Baden-Powell scouts and scout association scouts are different. Baden powell invented scouting I think. As a concept. Not the organisations themselves. Anyway, they don't get along apparently. they Too don't like air cadets..even tho they are air scouts. So confusing...
So a scout isn't just a scout. Random fact brought to you by the random spud. [/hijack]

Hi
If I hear of any scouting promotional events where they're after any bockers I try to get them posted on here. At the moment I am not aware of any in the midlands, however will see what I can find.
Cheers

Can you sign me up for bocking the mile at manchester please along with the other scouts :) thank youu
-
Stewart you obviously haven't read this thread as the Manchester mile that has been mentioned was the one that we did two years ago. If you are wanting to do the mile this year you will probably have to sort it out yourself.
