We need to get EVERYONE together who is comming to capital bocking....
Meet Date: Saturday 22nd of August

Just a thought it maybe better if you get everyone who is ONLY a definate to reply to your thread. That way you can keep a proper count of who is expected. The poll is fairly unreliable!
You could then update your first post as the list grows and keep a count that way :)

i should make it wont probly do the 2 day event as i now have rent to pay for n bills etc so lost a big chunk of my pennie allowance but am aiming for at least one day
lockys right depending on who goes sum people will or wont like people who dont drive etc wont go if people with cars dont if they cant afford trains etc

its the main event of the year, supposedly,
the once bocking spirit was to go to it whatever it takes,
some people have become too up themselves to associate with
others, rather than their little "play mates"
its about meeting and greeting new people to the sport
or getting to know people you didnt really meet previously
to say you are only going if certain people are there, is absolute crap...
eh, hope the guys not mentioned are deeply offended

Pin, I wasn't going to go as I can't really even afford the train from uni to London at the moment (£30 for a day travel card is insane, add onto that I'm paying £120 a week to stay at uni and I'm there for 4 weeks, that's over half my allowance for next term gone), not because certain people weren't going.
However, I haven't seen ET in 2 years, Colin in almost a year, and I've only seen Rich once since he came back from Oz, so I feel that's worthy enough to throw myself into debt for. If it was just to go bock for a day and I couldn't afford it, I wouldn't go, but as some of my best friends are going who I haven't seen in a long time, I will.

I did my shoulder a few years ago and it drops out a lot when I jump so he has my sympathy the Chiropractor has to put it back every time I visit but I'm lucky that it's not to painfull

Isn't it bloody hard to bock on slippery ground, I found it to be so. I've look at the forecast although further you look down the days less accurate it is, it seems however to holding well, may rain wed-fri.

Well... BBC weather website http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/10209 (http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/10209) is sayin that there isnt going to be any rain on saturday and sunday (then again that does change quite frequently)
Im not jumping :Becky: to any conclusions as of yet because I still remember "Walk for life" -- that morning, it was p**sin it down with rain-- really really heavy, (I took a brolly) and on the train into london, as i got closer and closer, the sky got bluer and sunnier and it was freakin hot all day. soooo just be positive. :)

Someone mentioned contacting the press. I dont think having the press cover this is a good idea at all. I really dont mean to dampen anyones efforts but it doesnt look terribly good for our sport when an event that has gone from 69 people the first year to over 100 the second year to 30 people in the third year.
I'm really sorry none of the WB's are coming but we just dont have the transport or can afford a train. If we had been able to get a bus hired or something we'd probably double the attendance numbers.

I agree. I'm probably going to go to CB, purely because I've been involved with it from the start and it's always been a bit of a laugh, especially to see friends who you haven't seen in many months. What dissapointed me this year was after CB08, Locky, myself and Becky made it pretty clear we weren't going to do any massive organisation on 2009 because of varying commitments (work, clubs, uni, etc). ET (2007 organiser) was unavailable as he was still on the other side of the planet. I very much hoped people would immediately take up on running it, many people expressed interest and suggested locations but nobody really picked up the ball apart from Muncher, and then Norwich was a-go. Sadly it was decided Norwich was too small (and had also banned bocking near the forum - the main focal point), and again the ball was dropped due to various commitments, and I fully respect Muncher for focusing on his college stuff before CB, as it's what I've done this year too.
It was left very late this year and after nobody had really finalised a location, date, etc, I had to simply post up a date, time and start location and throw together a T-Shirt design (luckily I had a rough one I made after CB08). I'm really glad and thankful that you've taken over Bexx and really pushed for it in the past month, but I feel it was all a little too late as a lot of the community excitement had waned by this point. Well done for getting it this far, but I can't help but feel that this year will be a major lowpoint for Capital Bocking, it lacks both the impact and levels of organisation of previous years. It may as well be called "London Meet" :(

Some of the best meets I have been to have had less than 10 people at them and the point of Saturday and Sunday is to enjoy it not to break any attendance records (Halloween only had 6 and it is the best night I have had in years)
So what if this year has less people I want to say to all the people that are coming

My camera had a nervous breakdown after WFL and stopped working, I can get about 5 pictures out of it before it just gives up! :Claugh:

authority available, its a meet, we go, we bock, if your asked to move on, you move and go elsewhere, simple.
so you made a date and time, well done you. the location was pretty much obvious as 07 was there. and that can be stated at any time, people dont need 365 days notice.
yeah there may be a few less people, but who cares, some choose to climb a mountain,
some wanna party. thats theyre choice, and also the start of the demise of cb. the one event that bockers should attend. but, either way it will be still fun...
the cb's are the only meets ive really been too, and i think a less over the top organised
event will be just the same. who needs a map, who needs train times, who needs a designated photographer, people can sort that themselves. were adults, we can decide what to do there, and where to go on the day.
we all go with the flow.

Clearly, they do, as the dates for '08 were set a 10 months in advance and as such gained 5x the number of people going this year. The final dates for this were set 2 months ago. That's an obvious exponential correlation.

It looks like my stilts are going to be annoying you guys at CB, one of them is making an awful creeking noise.
Me and Darfgarf looked at them today, my stilts seem to be packed full of surprises.
Darfgarf pointed out that they are a very odd variation of Skyrunners, they seemed to have quite a few differences with the average pair of Skyrunners.
The bushings were machined instead of just being a piece of metal crudely bended round into a bushing, and there were loads of other differences here and there, and for one they haven't failed catastrophically despite having them for almost a year now.
Oh, and thanks for Darfgarf for fixing my stilts up.

to be fair i like less ppl at a meet coz it allows you to go round and meet every one but tbh its going to be cb no matter how many ppl r there coz at the end of the day where are we bocking oh the capital of England that why i dident like the idea of it being in Norwich coz its not a capital eny ways i look forward to seeing the people attending and im sure we will have a good time

Everyone whos arranged this great meet in the last few years have really worked hard but dont sweat it dude, honestly, we aren't going to fade out because this year we dont have as many people. one of the reasons for less people are as follows,
regional groups are now bigger than they were 1 year and 2 years ago
so people dont feel the need to see alot of bockers at once, because they see it everyday almost...thats why 07 was good, not down to organisation, but the fad, which sadly has faded a little..08 had a few go, but on seperate days added, i barely stood in a group over 15 all day. so london had the most in one single day.

Woo... don't take things too seriously guys. I'll agree CB2009 hasn't been as organised as it could have been, but those who have been involved in getting things going (especially Bexx) deserve our applause, let's not get involved in interpersonal conflict here, that's what the PM system is for :)
It's true that London isn't the perfect location, and the Welsh Bockers are the largest contingent in the country and London is far for a lot of them.
As much as I hate to blow my (current) city's horn again, but I'd like to nominate Birmingham for 2010, for the same reasons as before. I'll get in contact with the admin of the Munroe Sports Centre when I get back in September and see how things go.
...but let's not start planning the next until we see how this year's goes.

Chill out guys, this threads about whose coming to cb not about who isnt and why they arent. Every1 can voice their opinions but if you want to get personal do it elsewhere. cb is different things to different people so go for the reason you want to and just have fun, there is no need for all this crap all it serves to do is create bad feelings.

Wow, it's been a while. First, yes pinhead i did want to go. but to CB, not to london. remember the meet we met pinhead?we turned around one day and just happened to organise a meet.. well i say organise. i mean we hit a few people with 'fancy a bock?'. 15 people turned up, that was the day sky high was born. big meets dont need lots of organising, they just need people who want to go! and obviously people are put off by something.

I agree with certain things, i think bocking would better off being kept less off the press the better right now, i don't want to be hushed on like a skateboarder. And it's great that a load of new people are going to capital, but what about us that have been here for years? And sprog, i find it really hard to take ANYTHING you say in the least bit innoffensive, as you are blunt, deal with it, and you give out YOUR OWN FORUM rules, underneath your sig. I'm not one to start arguments (:p) but seriously, start your own forum where you aren't allowed to p**s you off or talk in text speak, because its people like you that make me wanna visit these forums anymore.

i have only quickly read this thread. I don't need to read all of the details to say that isnt the place for it. This is about who is going to CB and thats it. No need for oppions or chat. Please save the arguements for another time (preferably not on a public forum. If you can sort it in person even better.) remember, only a small amount of human communication is speaking/writing so much is missed on forums.

Hi all, I gone thru a few pages and cant find what Im looking for. So Ill put a post in to try and find out what I want to know. OK you are all meeting 11ish in Hyde Park. Could some kind person point me in the direct of a route and some approx times.
If I finish work sharpish I can be in London by 1420. If you are all not going to be far from Waterloo ( and seeing as its only £10 on the traiin at the mo) then I can pop along for the 2nd 1/2.
If there is a route then I can 'track' you all. Better still if some1 could txt me every 30 from say 1400 onwards till I turn up ( peeps , I find, tend not to hear mobiles going off when out bouncing about v often).

I dont think you tell it walking for the speed but more the fact you are on paths instead if roads. Google maps on the ipod with directions is awesome for this kind of thing tho.

He'd had 2 beers
he wanted to do a backflip so greg and tim spotted him each side - as they would if anyone wanted to learn.
he overrotated landed on his feet but fell straight backwards he knocked himself clean out.
he was out for a couple of minuites while jelly and greg were trying to get him to respond and make sure he could feel his feet etc
we soon realised when he got to his feet he had some kind of concussion as he couldnt remeber comming to by the eye and kept repeating himself. me and tundrah went to get a first aider for advice and to check he was ok, they advised to take him to hospital which is what jelly and muncher have done.

Well 1st BIG BIG BIG thanks to jelly and muncher for taking lynch under their wing. I imagine Saturday nite in A&E in central London is not the best spot in the world.
ta to all who have helped keep the event going. Was a fun day ( well besides getting up at 0420 going to work -which included falling down a flight of metal stairs, b4 getting on the train to Lndn).
Wonderfull and fab suprise to see Derek over from the States ( which means we keep the 100% record of this being an 'international' event :Cyes: )
Ive just uploaded my pix to PC, but a/ they need resizing to fit pjf. b/ Im only know seeing them big size and have to judge wots fit to print. c/ dunno how to put pix on to a thread like this ( would some1 like to point an idiot like me in the direction of a tutorial), which is prob the best place for them to go. Ill put 1 or 2 up on the gallery above and hope will be in a position to post more up on a thread in next day or 2.

He was out cold for about 2 minutes after that Jason, had a massive concussion and couldn't remember anything we were saying to him. He asked to watch the video 4 times as he kept thinking he hadn't seen it.
I know at midnight last night he was still there, Jelly and Muncher took him and then left him with his mum after a few hours.

Yeah, he was out for the count, that video was soo cruel but extremely funny!
He couldnt remember anything straight after, kept asking the same question over and over again.
Half an hour after the fall we were on the way to the hospital, we thought he was getting his memory back or at least remembering what we had told him, he kept saying he was fine and was talking what we thought was normal.
By the time we got to the hospital he was complaining of a sore head and tingling sensations up and down his arms and half of his face.
Another half an hour later and they moved him to the treatment/waiting for a doctor room, where he was drifiting in and out, started mumbling incoherently, shaking and vomiting.
1 hour had passed and he had not yet seen the doctor, some guy turned up in Wine red scrubs and started asking him questions, like how much he had to drink and what he'd been doing that day. Lynch said from what he could remember about the day, whilst still seriously not obviously with it!
The guy attempted to put an IV drip in his hand but cant get a vain, Lynch gets a little aggitated and finds a vein for the guy, yet still puts the needle in wrong again.
Another doctor turns up and she seems a lot more qualified, re-assures Lynch and does his OB's. This is 2 hours after he gets there.
Lynch falls asleep for a little, wakes up, is sick a little more and starts complaining of being in pain, the IV needle has made his arm swell up, so they take it out.
Another half an hour later and they eventually move him to CDU, where he is sick even more. Nothing really was done at all during the 5 hours i was there, i left at 1am just after his mum had arrived. His mum texted me to say they were keeping him in overnight. I just got a text from Lynch now so i guess he will tell you the rest if he can actually remember, lol.

3 have gone up, after 2day i got about 300+. 10 or so prob ok. but i think best if i join frapr post a link 4 all. then once ive had my photoshop lessons ( over the next month) Ill work on the best pix and feed um in over the weeks. there r 2 of my pix on top row at mo, that seems enuff. Keep the photos fresh over the winter, if needed :Csmile:
I do have a couple of gud once of u and one of muncher too. Im really annoyed some1 walked past and ruined my only good shot of derek/Signalpad....ws suuuuch a suprise to see him. Turned up un did my , hi hi , hello, oo who u, hi, hi, ooooooo wow!!!! ( for those that dont know Derek came over from the States)

i would like to thank all involved in making this event happen, you all did a fantastic job.
i dont need to mention who you all are...
and i have to say, its been the best CB yet for me for many reasons.
the ammount was just perfect, which made it friendly.
ive met so many great new people, what cb is all about.
i think i almost spoke to everyone, wow, and all of you were just amazingly
friendly, funny, and a welcoming bunch of bockers. shame i couldnt of "pinnied" you all
but there will be plenty of time for that. :Ctwitcy:
i feel ive met some really good new friends, and only wished we all lived nearer
as im sure we would be biggin it up most days. adam i still owe you one lol.
also, as i was staying at bexx's (what a star and host she is)
ive become very close friends to what i consider my new little family,
we all got on soooo well, almost to the degree where now i feel a part
of me is missing, awwwwww
apparently choc trix and berty are my adopted grand children, (cheeky lil F's)
but you know pinny will get his revenge :Cyes: DONT YOU

We miss you too Pinny, This year was amazing in some ways better then previous ones as when theres lots of people who can flip it turns into abit of a flip fest and most people stand around bored.
Bexx is amazing for letting 8 people stay at hers i really enjoyed every minute of it and didnt want it to come to an end, my hand is allready showing a vast improvement touch wood i wont be going to hospital again about it, will have to come to Sky High turf for a meet soon me thinks made alot of new friends this weekend will see you all soon love every1 xxxxxxxxxx

yeah bio we got home late due to the tube's being delayed
so we didnt leave bexx's till around 12 i think, so it was a long weekend

OOO u know I dont 'do technology', but my heart was in the right place. Im also in middle of a photography course and there are a few Id like to 'tinker with'--once i know how.
If some1 could send me a link to some software ( thats idiotically easy to use) to do slide shows I would love them loads. Cos I think the pix would go well in that format.
The comments on this event interst me. ( ooo hang on time just went ping --gotta get the apple crumbl out of oven)

The event was not as 'fully' organised as in the past ( due to time factors really) but this also ment a more laid back and less rushed feel , which , for me, is more in keeping with our ethos. Now Ill admit the weather had a great deal to do with this too, simply lazing away outside chatting , unfortunatly, just wasnt an option in Cardiff last year.
The smaller size did mean that 1 reached out and chatted to people 1 didnt know, rather than staying in 'their own groups' (or just being lost alone) that would possibly, for some, be a reality in a really big meet. But even at Cardiff whilst there were dozenss and dozens of people . In reality they divided up into a number of groups ( whoes size and make up was fluid). At any1 time 20-30 would be chatting away, 6 would b shopping, 5 filming/taking pictures , 10-12 would actually be bocking , 3 people would be in the loo and oothers off doing other things.
Im pobably picking up on points that chime with me, Ill admit it. But seems 'big isnt always beautiful'. Big events might be 'disguised' and made to seem smaller. I also like the 'popular' feel to CB. As some1 posted 'the arguements are traditional' and to a degree 'hell yeah' cos its 'our' event and we all have equal dibs on it.
And yes yes pix r comming, but Im now at stage that Im bumping my own pix of the top of the page ( and ive 2 meets at the weekend too) now

Google Picasa is ok too. The one thing I can point you to for slide shows is windows movie maker, that'll do the job just fine.
